The Invincibles have a sort of Kent connection as well, with Matt Walker one of the coaches, and Billings the captain. Plus our ex Cox.Crusty54 said:
It's complicated. The Invincibles have a Surrey core but it is draft set up.golfaddick said:Dont generally watch the 100 (cant be doing with 5 balls being called a "set" and not an "over") but watched it tonight.
Anyone care to explain who are the Oval Invincibles, London Brave & Southern Softies (or whatever they are called). I had no idea who I should be supporting (usually Kent) but chose the Invincibles as the Oval is only 10 miles up the road. Are they based on counties or is it a draft / auction like the IPL.

The women's team were meant to have played at Beckenham as an encouragement for Kent to adopt this franchise, but that never happened, so it has the feel of a Surrey team, led by Billings.0 -
I enjoyed the few games I watched this Hundred .. bowlers had a better deal with a higher seamed ball meaning closer, lower scoring games .. good crowds who seemed to have a good time0

Thanks for the clarification.0

Me and Mrs MAM had the first taste of it on TV last couple of weeks and quite enjoyed it.

Trust me as a Surrey fan I want nothing to do with this utter wankfest of a competition.
The 50 over competition which is now nearly over has been reduced to nothing more than a reserve competition and the county championship sees hardly any games in the height of summer.
Call themselves whatever they like but I will never associate the Oval Invicibles or whatever with my county.3 -
Oval Invincibles will be renamed MI London from next season following investment from the owners of Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians.Crusty54 said:

Am wondering if only Birmingham Phoenix and the Trent Rockets will keep their names as they aren't owned by anyone with links to other Franchises.
Although Southern Brave becoming Southern Capitals with the link to Delhi Capitals would be rather stupid.0 -
I know it's an I, but I do read that as if it's the M1.clive said:

As if it's telling you're going on the London bound side of the motorway.0 -
Well for the women's team it could be MilW, or is it F.1

The Northern Superchargers have announced a new change for the upcoming campaign. They’ll be known as “Sunrisers Leeds”.
This follows Oval Invincibles being renamed MI London and Manchester Originals becoming Manchester SuperGiants.

Sad all this, isn’t it? Sold our cricket summer and likely the future quality of the test team to be an IPL reserve league.5

Does the sun ever rise in Leeds??3

Hey, at least the American Tech CEOs that bought 49% of the Lords team aren’t changing their name…North Lower Neil said:Sad all this, isn’t it? Sold our cricket summer and likely the future quality of the test team to be an IPL reserve league.0 -
The only one that's been confirmed as staying the same so far is Birmingham Phoenix. I assume it's because they're not owned by an IPL conglomerate.Callumcafc said:The Northern Superchargers have announced a new change for the upcoming campaign. They’ll be known as “Sunrisers Leeds”.

Either way, one of the first things that needs fixing is the nonsense of this not being an actual twenty over competition.
With all the investment it’s unfortunately looking like it’s here to stay so we need to figure out how to make the best of it without sidelining the Test summer, the County Championship and the ODI Cup.
First place to look at is how the Aussies manage the Shield, their Test summer and the Big Bash and go from there.2 -
That name change will alienate a very big percentage of the Yorkshire fan base supporting this teamCallumcafc said:The Northern Superchargers have announced a new change for the upcoming campaign. They’ll be known as “Sunrisers Leeds”.

Another fine idea from Rob Key - Up there with the ashes team….
Still absolutely loathe it and hope it folds.10 -

The rules have changed, meaning teams can't just keep retaining all the same players. Interesting that MI London have retained Sam Curran and Will Jacks, and made Curran captain in place of Sam Billings.
A major mistake, as Surrey win nothing in the white ball game without the guiding hand of a Kent player to lead them to victory.5 -
I thought Strauss was the driving force behind the Hundred and I supported Michael Athertons arguments against it.PrincessFiona said:

Of course the money men won but I still live in hope that it will eventually fail.2 -
As Managing Director he’s responsible for overall strategic direction of English domestic competitions and has been a vocal and enthusiastic advocate of the hundred.
Personally I think it’s destroyed the one day game and undermined our national team. I cannot relate to an almost totally alien game with manufactured sides sporting ridiculous Americanised names, with no real connection to places or people.

Northern Superchargers will be renamed Sunrisers Leeds. The original name was bad enough but to have Leeds in the new name has just lost the rest of Yorkshire. Bonkers!0
