4 midfielders is the answer. Every team in the FL wishes they could press like we did today. No excuses now, we have to start doing this against teams that set up to nullify us as well.7

6/7 game unbeaten run now required2

So. We've reached the 10 games benchmark. We are 8th and the 2 teams on equal points but above us on gd have a game in hand. We're a win away from the playoffs if those go our way. What's the verdict?0
-
Not more to add on to what others have said other than why is it we can only put in a solid performances against good footballing teams?0
-
Only the second game I've watched, but didn't think we were that good to be honest. Thought Birmingham were awful, given the circumstances. We looked very fit. Nice finish for the goal.22

For a neutral that probably wasn't a quality match. But for a charlton perspective that was perfect. Didn't allow birmingham to find any rhythm at all. Full credit to NJ and all the boyseaststandmike said:
We have beaten the top of the table team and deservedly so but it was far from a quality football match, as others have said Birmingham looked well off the pace and a little bemused that we didn’t roll overmsomerton said:We won a quality football match for the first time this season. The players knew their roles and stuck to them and the man.
Jones has this time shown he can learn.
There are still weakness in the play but they can be compensated for as shown today.7 -
Alan Campbell needs piss testing. How has he gone from the performance against Blackpool to today in such a short space of time?41

Jesus. I can still feeĺ the flush on my face. I am telling myself its because I spent the last half hour roaring at the TV, rather than the cringing embarassment of what I wrote on the match thread before KO.Jay Stansfield absolutely lost it in the last half hour and was trying to start a scrap after the final whistle. Didnt somebody tell him that this is League One he signed up for?13

We dominated the match, thoroughly deserved win against the unbeaten league leaders. Superb team performance, Ramsay & Coventry were terrific.8

Mega annoying there’s no game next weekend though, could have built some real momentum off that9

Well there's a shock. Spent the afternoon pottering about in the woodshed, where there was something nasty, and came in to to find my weekend not ruined. Long may it continue.0

An extra midfielder, an attempt to play football rather than hoofball, less pressure on the WBs to attack, Jones getting it right in terms of motivation and tactically. As I’ve said a few times after recent defeats it’s not a surprise our midfielders look poor, they had been watching the ball fly over their heads and then had to run after it all game.Clem_Snide said:Alan Campbell needs piss testing. I hope we stick with it, with tweaks as and when needed.18 -

Don’t get too down when things go wrong, or over celebrate when things go right. We have the right manager in place and he will get it right this season. To those who wanted Jones out a few days ago, maybe you’re watching the wrong sport ? You don’t seem to understand this one.14

What an unexpected treat that was. We didn't just contain Birmingham, we were genuinely better than them. Everyone played their part, to the point where it seems unfair to single anyone out. Having said that though, Kayne Ramsay, what an absolute star he was.
Credit too to The Covered End Choir, how nice it was hearing everyone in full voice. Finally, a mention to Callum. He's had a lot of difficult arguments on here in recent weeks and has stuck to his guns and kept in good humour. Hope you're enjoying the moment mate.26 -
Great performance
Ramsey and Coventry were absolutely immense
Coventry is pivotal to absolutely everything11 -

That’s why we love football.I’d resigned myself to another season of failure, and these players that we’d lost faith in turn in a performance like that.Bloody spectacular. And the thing that is so extraordinary is that we looked the better team. How that possible?!6

This is Charlton, make that £42k, plus a new pair of shin pads.AFKABartram said:Downside of today, Kane Ramsey joins Birmingham on 1st Jan for £42m (plus add ons)12 -
A lot of money , really Chris???? Our squad probably cost 1/3 of Jay Stansfield.13
-
they spent £12m on the three strikers who played today, all garbage, so excellent deflection by Davies4

It's one game. We still don't have much of a goalscoring threat. Time for him to laugh will be when we get promoted.cafc_se7 said:
NJ will be laughing at the doubters. When he is nullified he is nowhere to be seen!NabySarr said:Just realised Alfie May wasn’t playing second half, had as many touches as he did in the first
