4 midfielders is the answer. Every team in the FL wishes they could press like we did today. No excuses now, we have to start doing this against teams that set up to nullify us as well.

So. We've reached the 10 games benchmark. We are 8th and the 2 teams on equal points but above us on gd have a game in hand. We're a win away from the playoffs if those go our way. What's the verdict?

Not more to add on to what others have said other than why is it we can only put in a solid performances against good footballing teams?

We won a quality football match for the first time this season. The players knew their roles and stuck to them and the man.
Jones has this time shown he can learn.
There are still weakness in the play but they can be compensated for as shown today.
We have beaten the top of the table team and deservedly so but it was far from a quality football match, as others have said Birmingham looked well off the pace and a little bemused that we didn’t roll over
For a neutral that probably wasn't a quality match. But for a charlton perspective that was perfect. Didn't allow birmingham to find any rhythm at all. Full credit to NJ and all the boys

Jesus. I can still feeĺ the flush on my face. I am telling myself its because I spent the last half hour roaring at the TV, rather than the cringing embarassment of what I wrote on the match thread before KO.

Jay Stansfield absolutely lost it in the last half hour and was trying to start a scrap after the final whistle. Didnt somebody tell him that this is League One he signed up for?
  • We dominated the match, thoroughly deserved win against the unbeaten league leaders. Superb team performance, Ramsay & Coventry were terrific.

Mega annoying there’s no game next weekend though, could have built some real momentum off that

Well there's a shock. Spent the afternoon pottering about in the woodshed, where there was something nasty, and came in to to find my weekend not ruined. Long may it continue.

Alan Campbell needs piss testing. How has he gone from the performance against Blackpool to today in such a short space of time?
An extra midfielder, an attempt to play football rather than hoofball, less pressure on the WBs to attack, Jones getting it right in terms of motivation and tactically. As I’ve said a few times after recent defeats it’s not a surprise our midfielders look poor, they had been watching the ball fly over their heads and then had to run after it all game.

I hope we stick with it, with tweaks as and when needed.

Don’t get too down when things go wrong, or over celebrate when things go right. We have the right manager in place and he will get it right this season. To those who wanted Jones out a few days ago, maybe you’re watching the wrong sport ? You don’t seem to understand this one.

Just realised Alfie May wasn’t playing second half, had as many touches as he did in the first

NJ will be laughing at the doubters. When he is nullified he is nowhere to be seen!

    That’s why we love football.
I’d resigned myself to another season of failure, and these players that we’d lost faith in turn in a performance like that.
Bloody spectacular. And the thing that is so extraordinary is that we looked the better team. How that possible?!

Downside of today, Kane Ramsey joins Birmingham on 1st Jan for £42m (plus add ons)
This is Charlton, make that £42k, plus a new pair of shin pads.

It's one game. We still don't have much of a goalscoring threat. Time for him to laugh will be when we get promoted.
  • Loved that, superb performance all round
