Wayne Rooneys Plymouth are no longer Wayne’s Rooneys Plymouth.0

Am surprised he lasted so long. Wonder if Ryan Lowe or Steven Schumacher will be welcomed back?1

I want a bit more poetry and alliteration in his next appointment. Something like Wayne Rooney’s Wicklow Rovers.0

Lock up your...hmm. Plymouth's Wayne Rooney is on the loose!0

Dagenham & Redbridge sacked their manager Ben Strevens a couple of days ago. Might be more Rooney's level as a manager.0

I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned to punditry. He did okay at the Euros if I remember correctly1

Plymouth Argyle can confirm that the club and Head Coach Wayne Rooney have mutually agreed to part ways with immediate effect.
Departing the club with Rooney will be Assistant Head Coach Mike Phelan and first team coach Simon Ireland.
First team coach Kevin Nancekivell and Club Captain Joe Edwards will lead the team for our Sky Bet Championship match against Bristol City on New Year’s Day. Daryl Flahavan will continue as Goalkeeping coach.

2024/25: 19th, 22pts, so far.
Complete mid-table mediocrity with a steady decline recently. I think they'll only keep doing it for so long, especially with how often they chop and change.
I found this interesting to read and even with the amazing Midas touch of the Coates family, Stoke have been on the slide.
This is part of the article from 2/8/24"It's bet365 effectively acting like the bank of mum and dad and acknowledging that the money that was owed by the football club, which at one stage was over a quarter of a billion pounds, is never going to be repaid and they are just doing some tidying up," football finance expert Kieran Maguire told BBC Radio Stoke.
"Stoke tended to break even when they were in the Premier League but in the last few years, they've been losing £500,000, £600,000 a week and those costs have effectively been absorbed by the Coates family."
Football really isn't an exact science as demonstrated by Stoke City with good owners like the Coates and the not so merry go-round at CAFC.
If they get relegated they could be in some serious trouble.
After seeing your stats on this being Stoke's 7th season in the Championship after being relegated and off of 10 straight years in the Premier I'm shocked to see how much they are allegedly losing as I thought the big earners are normally moved on when dropping out of the elite Premier, especially if you don't get back in one season.
Paying off Lambert, Rowett, Jones, O'Neill, Neil, Schumacher and Pelach are all out goings.6 -

Wayne Rooney was blessed with footballing talent but yet again in England at least, the Midas touch doesn't always carry on when they are a manager.
Jackie Charlton, a Giraffe type CB was the only member of the '66' winners to have some success in management.
Alf Ramsey is the obvious exception but apparently he was a slow right back in the days when RB didn't cross the half way line ! 33 caps, so not too shabby.
Bobby Robson was a goal scoring Midfielder who scored 1 in 4 in club football and had 20 caps. Excellent club manager and hit and miss with England. Losses to ROI, Holland and Russia in Euro 88 yet kept his job to reach the semi final in 90.
Glenn Hoddle was a gifted footballer and if he could've kept quiet about how Karma catches up with you, would in my opinion been a top international manager for a decade or so.
My only criticism of Hoddle was he thought penalty shoot outs were a lottery; only if you let David Batty take one !
Gareth Southgate was an International but same as Ramsey, solid rather than great. Two finals in Euro's and semi final in WC and gets a knighthood for coming 2nd. A strong record TBF.
Great players now are so rich, even just decent Premier players are that will they have the motivation to do the hard yards in being a Manager or head coach. Easier money just being a pundit than taking abuse and working 12 hour days.

Mark Robins has been appointed Manager of Stoke City on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Paul Nevin and James Rowberry, currently England Under 20s and Wales senior team’s Assistant Coach respectively, have joined as Assistant Managers.

I think we can safely say the West ham manager Julen Lopetegui isn't going to be with them much longer.1
