He won 50% of his aerial duels yesterday. Leaburn’s season percentage for that is 50.5% so they’re similar. I would say that Godden’s look to be more controlled.Chunes said:

In some quarters there seems to be a belief that when we go long, the striker is supposed to head it to one of our players. But that rarely happens at any team, and I'd argue it's not the aim. The striker just has to get something on it or stop the CB from making full contact so we can contest the second ball higher up the pitch.
Leaburn is the same height as Peter Crouch and I've no doubt he'll become a more dominant force in the air. But no young player comes into the team and starts smashing experienced CBs. The youth game is played entirely on the floor, it takes years to pick it up.0 -

FotMob has Miles in the 96th percentile for total aerial duels won (111) and 89th percentile for aerial duels won percentage (50.5%).
Godden 64th percentile for aerial duels won (36) and 73rd percentile for aerial duels won percentage (42.9%). Impressive for a shorter striker who you’d think would have little to no aerial presence.
To keep this thread on topic, Alfie May is in the 1st percentile for aerial duels won (1) and 1st percentile for aerial duels won percentage (4.8%).10 -

Quite apart from his quality on the pitch I feel that Godden seems to be a fairly likeable guy in general. He does his job, he gets on with it and doesn't get stroppy too much if he has to wait for his chance - but when he does get the opportunity he'll work hard to keep his place.

Got a contract to see out the end of his career and living back locally, hopefully he's made enough dough and been sensible with it and can cruise along and enjoy his time with us.

Yep I like that a lot about him too. Godden is not as good as May but is quality and we should be starting with him and Leaburn up top if we can find a way to make it work0

Depending on who you ask you will get different answers. 2. Despite his undoubted scoring prowess May didn’t fit the way that Jones wanted us to play.3. By around March 2024 - May found his minutes on the pitch limited and he was playing out of position on occasion.4. Summer 2024 - Huddersfield put in a bid which we accepted and May, with better chances of game time, maybe some more money and being closer to family up north was keen and as he wasn’t an automatic starter for us we accepted the bid.5. Day May travels to Huddersfield for his medical - Birmingham made a bid which was more lucrative for us and May.
6. Forever after - I moan on Internet forums about Charlton selling Alfie May.5 -

Godden has had a better career than May and I would say there is not that much between them. We can argue one way or the other using different facts. With May you could argue that he was League One top scorer in a shit team. But you could also argue he was part of a shit team.0

I still say we sold him to raise funds to buy players because our owners will not fund a transfer kitty

Neither Godden or Berry have looked fit enough to play a full match without looking like they needed subbing off.
Godden and to a lesser extent Berry are looking the fittest they have been.2 -
