Think the difference between Casey & Mbick is that the latter is more physically ready which is why we've seen more of him. Casey has a very slight build.
It's similar in many ways to Kanu - who likewise had a clear goalscoring ability but questions about his physicality relative to senior level games.

Hopefully it will continue to be similar and Casey can also add a bit of muscle and stature to improve his all round game, as Kanu did.

They played very well together for the under 18s last Saturday. Whilst Casey is small he is muscular and made a mug of a much bigger Watford defender who ended up on the ground. He scored with great header from a cross from M'Bick.

Brighton can have him if they give us Ferguson in exchange.

Leave him be. His progress so far has been good, it doesn’t need spoiling.
Anyway all aspects of his game are indifferent apart from the ability to score shedloads of goals 😉
  • Casey is the stereotypical poacher.  Not very fast, doesn’t hold the ball up well but knows how to find space and finish.  That’s why he goes long stretches where he is invisible but then somehow ends up scoring two. It is really hard to evaluate kids who fit this mold as many dont step up well to league football, some do and then you have someone like Alfie who it took until his late 20s to succeed. He clearly has talent so you hang on to him until you feel fairly certain he will or won’t be playing in the main squad which probably won’t be for another couple years

U21s striker Patrick Casey has joined National League South side Dorking Wanderers on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

  • Good news. I hope it goes better than his first loan and he can bang some goals in and make a bit of a name for himself there.

He looks a cut above at this level. The goal he scored on his debut was a proper goalscorer’s touch and finish. Came off the bench today and looked like he might be the match winner.

Nice. Hard to get that excited about this when we have two loanees banging goals 2 tiers above him though

Thinking of going to the Tonbridge Angels v DW match on January 3rd as we don't have a game.

I feel there will only be the very bravest souls at Ewood on the 4th to where this is no match day train available

I know what you mean but he does seem very slight yet with a great goal record behind him so if he can bulk up and get used to mens football then who knows.

20 years old and in the 6th tier of English football not sure he’s gonna be with us for too much longer but can still definitely have a decent career in the future
  • Since he's been at Dorking he's scored in every game . He got a blinder yesterday against Salisbury .You can catch it on Dorking Wanderers YouTube page plus the post match with Mark White (their manager) raving about the lad . I hope we're not righting him off .

Out of contract in the summer, he might choose to move on for regular football. I’m sure his goalscoring will be attracting interest from L2 and the NL.

The u21 players call him Patty Kane and it’s obvious why - he’s a natural goalscorer, a great finisher. Even likes to drop deep at times like Kane.

I think he lacks the pace or strength he’d need at Championship level but I could see the sense in offering him a new deal. If he doesn’t make it with us we could get a decent fee from a lower league club who are throwing money around.

Highlights | Dorking Wanderers 3-0 Salisbury    Great strike....40 secs in.
  • Not going to be on high wages, so i'd offer him a new deal and then loan him to a NL side for the start of next season. See how he does at a higher level from August-Jan and if he's doing well recall him and give him a league 2 loan.

He might not have pace but he just seems to always be in the right place at the right time to score.

Bang on.  We should not let this lad go,, has scored buckets of goals every level so far.  No club our size is likely to come in for him so we should be well placed to offer him 2yrs plus an option with a plan to loan him to NL/L2.
That Maidstone manager really was useless with him.  Dorking second in the same division getting a proper tune out of him.

He is an absolute machine of a goalscorer. His finishing is insane. But I would not hold your breath in waiting for him to play for us, it almost certainly won't happen. I think Step 1/2 might be as high as he gets.

I think with a year at NL level we could get a fee for him from L2/LOI. I think he’s worth the relatively cheap punt

My brother-in-law went to watch Dorking recently and said Casey was quality.
  • it's a decent standard in my view . His first spell playing senior football and it's only two levels below where Dan K and Mbick are plying their trade . Hope we don't make a massive mistake . There's plenty of players who's made their mark in non league , if memory serves Jamie Vardy made Premier League debut at the tender age of 27 .

It's really, really difficult to convey sensitively why he is not expected to make it as high as L1 or even L2. Although I do hope those in the know are wrong. He's a really good lad and he is extremely tough on himself when he misses a chance (at Worthing he apologised to the gaffer for only scoring one in the first half, and I think he's called him up on another Occassion to say he was sorry for hitting another chance over the bar - in a game they comfortably won!).

Nice to be able to watch one of our own on the series. Dorking are flying at the minute!

With Pat finding the net this much and players returning from injury I think they ought to smash this league now. Carter and Pybus are coming back quicker than expected, and they have four out-and-out strikers for the first time ever (with Carter and McShane as back ups for the 10 position). Pat is first choice too now I think, even when Alfie Rutherford is fit.

Exactly. He's the sort of player you could quite easily see scoring goals at National league level and then someone in League 2 or even Peterborough would take a punt on him. He's only just turned 20 so i definitely don't think we should be writing him off and releasing him yet.

Impressed they managed to keep hold of Carter, way too good for NLS level. Lewis is incredibly good too! Need to get myself down to another game soon!

Loving B.O.A FC too! Great work.
