My observations (I guess I watch the game as if a 20th Century referee, with despair at the modern game, seeing as no-one has mentioned all this)
The first goal was due to Ramsay being intent on holding their attacker rather than being goalside and being aware of where the ball was in the air. It hit him lamely on the arm because he had no idea that it was about to hit him. Ramsay was totally at fault. If it hadn’t gone in, it should have been a penalty to Millwall anyway, and yellow card to Ramsay. If were NJ, I’d be livid with Ramsay.
Dykes was being pushed and pulled whilst running through on goal. The ball bounced off his head onto his arm but he was not in control of his upper body and therefore not in control of the positioning of his upper arm. Ruling this goal out was unfair because he was being fouled. The goal should have been allowed and a yellow card given to the Millwall defender.
In the box preceding their second goal Cooper was holding our defender marking Taylor. Taylor made his run away from his marker because he was no longer able to follow him. Taylor then had a clear header. Yellow card to Cooper, free kick to Charlton, no goal.
There’s a challenge in the box which wasn’t tidy but there was no foul. It’s his standing foot that their player moves his foot towards to intentionally trip over to win the penalty. Yellow card to their player for simulation.
Final Score: Millwall 2 Charlton 1
Correction : 1-1 (as without goals 2&3 they wouldn't get goal 4)
Correction again: 2-1 (as we always find a way to lose against those w**k**s)

The sources on here who have said he has fallen out with Doc and Apter have proven to be very reliable in numerous things. The body language of TC every time he is moved to LB is clear for any fan watching to see.
Has he lost the dressing rooms I don't know, but it's pretty obvious there are some major issues.0 -
The official stats might say otherwise but I reckon we had 3 attempts on goal today.CaptainRobbo said:

Can't see us scoring 2 or 3 next week somehow, as I doubt we keep a clean sheet.
TC's shot
Lloyd Jones's blocked shot
Dyke's shot.
We will need far more than that to win a game of football.0 -

A performance today that was both embarrassing and predictable in equal measures.
Players like Macca, Coventry & Ramsay seem to be regressing at a rate of knots.
Campbell is our only player who looks to make things happen and was again MOTM.
Clarke looks like he could be a decent signing.
Golfie is absolutely spot on about the farcical left-wing back situation & signing.1 -
Jones needs questioning 100% but don’t let that distract from how pathetic those players were, particularly second half.
The space every Millwall player in possession had, the lack of desire to even track players runs, 1st balls, 2nd balls, 3rd balls. We could have played any formation with any set of those 11 players and the outcome would have been the same.Shameful3 -
The Senior Management Team need to sit down Monday morning with NJ and have a no holds barred discussion on where it’s all gone wrong and come up with a solution. NJ can’t keep hiding behind injuries, he has a fairly full squad to choose from now. Also involve the players, if they have issues with NJ they need to be aired and sorted. Things will start to get toxic soon if things don’t improve.14

Who is in charge of our recruitment, Burke and Hare?Elthamaddick said:Still a Jones supporter but he’s trying my patience now with his stubbornness
Actually liked his post match interview and I think we might actually see a bit of a reaction / change - we have to.
I’m hopeful we can get a couple more bodies in this week.
I also still believe had we had Bell / Edwards for the last few months we’d be a good 10/12 points better off and not worried at all.
Those 2 injuries have killed the whole balance of the side.
There simply has to be a reaction to that display today though4 -

That second half was littered with disgraceful examples of just that. It’s a derby. I want to see them charging at Millwall left right and centre. Not pulling out of tackles. Lack of bothering to move to offer options, watching people ghost past them, not following up penalties.
It’s not fucking ridiculous and as fans we won’t put up for it in a local derby.
They embarrassed us and they embarrassed themselves
I agree totally they were nearly all completely hopeless to various degrees but were they just inept compared to not trying?2 -
I have no words for how bad that was, so I used your words. Thank you.

It's the latter. These players aren't a touch on the quality we had under Bowyer or Powell.CAFCTrev said:I’m confused. For the first two months of the season we looked, at worst, like a solid mid-table side. Now we look completely abysmal.
So what is it — a mid-table Championship squad being badly managed, or a genuinely League One-level squad with a manager who’s simply cant get anything more from them?

We need to strengthen in several areas, but the left side problem will cost us our place in this division.3 -
Ramsay's own goal was offside anyway because their player attempted to play the ball after being offside at the moment of the pass.jimmymelrose said:My observations (I guess I watch the game as if a 20th Century referee, with despair at the modern game, seeing as no-one has mentioned all this)

The ball came off Ramsay's chest, same for Dykes one.1 -
'Millwall were excellent, but we were nowhere near that level. We settled nicely and there wasn't a massive problem in the first half - we weren't anywhere near our levels, but we made opportunities, moved the ball well."
I assume Jones was at a different game to me, we could have been 3 or 4 down at half time.5 -
I think there is a bit more to it than that. Wrexham have managed to bring in further finance in much the same way that Ipswich have, which may explain or allow further investment in the team, I think that is the Charlton boards intention but I am not aware that it's been achieved. It's an interesting one though, one of the reasons that, as I understand it, the American interest in our football clubs have become so prolific, was the strength of the dollar against the pound, not the only reason though, Trumps Dollar has fallen dramatically, I wonder if that will have any affect on American owned football clubs.jimmymelrose said:
Not the owners but Rodwell. They said it as much on the interview. They don’t want to spend big because they think it will cause disharmony. Meanwhile Wrexham spend big and don’t appeared unsettled by it.kentred2 said:The owners have let Jones and the fans down.Signings either walking wounded or league one standard at best.

Jones has talked recently about a track record of outperforming his budget and you could see at the start of the season how he does. We outworked teams, pressed them to death, won every second ball, defended as a unit and were generally horrible to play against, especially at the Valley. After we'd run a team ragged for 70 minutes a new front line came on like they were shot out of a cannon and we had a knack of scoring late goals. Workrate, fitness and structure are three things that can be drilled into a low budget/technically deficient team to make them effective.
Somehow all of that has gone out of the window. Since Southampton (where it was admittedly a disaster) we are too scared to press teams. But we are also unbelievably slow on and off the ball. And have completely stopped winning the second ball. Today was the worst example of that and completely inexcusable, but it has been the case to some degree for a while.
I thought our problems came down mainly to the giant hole in the left side of the defence but clearly there are deeper issues.
On the left side, I'm not digging him out but based on that half Chambers is not the LWB we need. We need someone defensively very solid and he lived up to his billing today of being good on the ball and going forward, but not particularly strong in defence. Don't mind him as competition/backup but we need an outright left back in that role.

Anyone with a little pace and skill…..ie scienza (Southampton)…and today Azeez…..cause havoc in our defense…PeaksAndValleys said:Jones has talked recently about a track record of outperforming his budget and you could see at the start of the season how he does. If you put the Millwall element aside it’s a slightly different story. We were , against the odds, in with a shout until about 80 mins against a team who are clearly better than us.Decisions given another way and it would not have ended up the way it did.We lost and deserved to but it could have been less bad - if you get my drift. To be positive I think we can expect a different starting 11 next time out.7
-
I'm sorry but NJ has to go. He spoke about his teams high intensity which was missing not only today after the shambolic defeat by Millwall. We lost 1 to 1 battles, players not tracking, the stupidity of the continuation of the short goal kick that ultimately loses us possession in our half, previously throw ons going backwards ending up with our keeper. Lack of risk taking that shows up when players do not anticipate by running off one another. I could go on about certain players and their continued performances which was pitiful and clearly the over indulgence of NJ ex players who jump to his tune doesn't help. We are now going backwards in terms of defensive capabilities but NJ tactics doesn't help on terms of attack. In short we need a change.3

I think Jones's thinking (if he had any) was to go for it in the first half and try to nick a goal then sit back and try to protect it.golfaddick said:
I agree he didnt. It wasn't what he did on the pitch that was the problem. The problem was he couldn't last more than 45 mins. He has been out injured for months & only had a couple of U21 matches over the last couple of weeks. He is not match fit.....maybe even worse than Rousillion. The problem is he had to be replaced at HT & then we are back to same old same old with TC playing there.guinnessaddick said:
Probably our only choice. Didn’t think he did that bad in the first half.golfaddick said:

That all went tits up as soon as they scored and Jones then didn't know what ttodo once he took him off at left wb as Cambell couldn't get up the pitch as much.0 -
If I was Jones I'd be tempted to put that up at the training ground in an attempt to get some sort of reaction out of themStig said:I have no words for how bad that was, so I used your words. Thank you.
