Major tonic for Harry and McManus and a blow to Paul Nicholls,
who seems to be going through a comparatively barren time for him

Lack of horses due to the advent of other, younger trainers, some of which are being supported by owners who might otherwise have sent their horses to Nicholls. The likes of Dan Skelton and Harry Derham in particular who, of course, learnt their trade under Nicholls. In fact, Derham is Nicholls' nephew!
