That would've been a new one on me, a race where no one finishes.

Also has there ever been a triple dead heat?
The closest I have ever seen to a triple dead heat was the 1985 1000 Guineas, won by Oh So Sharp.
Every time I see a video of the finish I still can't believe that she got up to win.

My memory might be playing tricks on me, but I seem to recall a three or four runner chase where all four fell but one of the jockeys managed to keep hold of the reins and remounted, only to fall again!

That rings a bell with me too.
I think banning remounting a horse in a race is one of the best rule changes of recent times.

AP McCoy won on Family Business after falling. He was the only finisher in what was a seven-runner race with three re-mounting.

Wow, Isaac Des Obeaux at 28/1 for Paul Nicholls and Sam T-D take the Midlands Nat.
It's a sign of how testing that was that Neo King looked booked for 4th but was PUd just before 2 out - credit to Ben Jones.
Rock My Way in 2nd (8L) ran a mighty race from the front with topweight
    Git Maker 3rd (Nk)
    Grand Albert 4th (detached)
Not quite breakeven for me but 4 weeks today hopefully we'll land the big fish ........ and the odd minnow  :)

Early form of that Haydock GNT (in which Top Of The Bill was close 2nd) is looking respectable if not spectacular (Git Maker and Grand Albert representing, as did Monbeg Genius 3rd in the Kim Muir): 6 runs, 0 wins, 3 places.

Always loved the Midlands Grand National since I went to Uttoxeter in 1991, after a week at Cheltenham, to see Bonanza Boy win the race under topweight.
    Lovely course.

If you owned a horse that had these form figures, would you be happy or frustrated?

    2-2-2-2-2-4-2-2-2-2

That is the story of Mumayaz who has just finished runner up for the ninth time in ten races. The horse did nothing wrong today with the winner being a former Gosden inmate that was running off a mark a stone lower than when last winning 18 months ago. From a punting perspective and for obvious reasons, Mumtayaz is rarely each way in price and place only on the Tote would have given you a 10p in the £ profit.
Guess where Mumayaz has just finished at Lingfield? That's 10 of the last 11 races and with the favourite winning the F/C paid a fraction under 5/1
Mister Coffey, running in the Doncaster 3.15, is an equalling frustrating horse. It hasn't won a race for over three years or a chase ever but travels well and gives the impression that it isn't putting it all in - six times runner up in its 11 races over the bigger obstacles.

However, there is some "meat on the bone" today and one reason why things might be different. Firstly, it is freely available at 12/1 with six places - so if MC is placed then, effectively, you will double your money. The other thing is that Nicky Henderson has decided to stick cheekpieces on for the first time - though that could go both ways as evidenced by the way Shishkin reacted to them in refusing to race.

I'm going to keep the faith and have an EW dabble, perhaps for the last time!
Scrambled home in 6th - 12/1 wouldn't have been enough to double the initial stake as it is, of course, 1/5th of the odds but a decent profit nevertheless
It's now over five years and some 22 runs since Mister Coffey got his head in front. Nine seconds in that time, he's entered in the hunter chase at Newbury (17.16). He should have a great chance but at 7/4 (3.0 on Betfair) he's not for me.

Certainly not well-in on official ratings, Regatta De Blanc makes some appeal if only for the fact that he is trained by Will Biddick who has the remarkable of stats of seven wins and six seconds from 20 career runs as a trainer. Regatta De Blanc has moved from Paul Nicholls back to Biddick who originally trained the horse to two wins and a second from three runs. Cheekpieces are put on for the first time.

Unfortunately, the 20 plus that was available on Betfair has long since left the building but even around 9 there is a touch of value.

Now watch Mister Coffey hack up!

I would like to see him win but he has never won over fences so too short for me.

Mister Coffey finished fourth and found zero. They are still looking for Regatta De Blanc.

Very sad news that Sir Gino has lost his battle and has had to be put down.

Could have won by a lot more, Ryan Moore barely touched him... Sat back and was a rocket on the home straight

I see the bookie sponsored Skelton stable had it right off yesterday with multiples on the following horses. The SPs reflect the weight of money and liabilities from those early bets struck - the early acca came to 241/1 whereas the SP acca was just 14/1

Coumeenoole - (Form: 7/9, 8/8, 9/15, 5/16 & 3/8 - 11lbs lower than highest mark) "led going easily before 2 out, shaken up before last", WON by 2.75 lengths @15/8

    Palamon - (Form: F, 6/10, 9/10, 6/7, 4/5 & 5/5_ - 15lbs lower than highest mark) "went clear flat, readily", WON by 3.5 lengths @ Evs

    Service Minimum - (Form: 11/20, 7/15, 4/8 & 7/12) - 8lbs lower than highest mark), "cosily" by 1.75 lengths WON at 8/15

    Tyson - (Form 8/11, 8/9, 9/10, P, 5/12 - 9lbs lower than highest mark) "eased final strides", WON by 3.5 lengths @ 8/11

Crokes Cross won at 300/1 (haven't checked but would have, almost certainly, returned 1000 on the Betfair SP). That equals the longest priced SP in British racing.

The winner was trained by Stuart Coltherd who also had the 5/2 second favourite, Changemyluck and that finished runner-up to its stable mate. The thing about Crokes Cross is that not only was this the horse's first run for Coltherd but it only had two races in Ireland and in the first of those it went off at 6/1 3rd favourite of 10 in a mares bumper so they must have thought that it had some sort of engine prior to its debut.

Bet they wish he hadn't been gelded!!

Would love to see him at Royal Ascot - QE2 Jubilee Stakes would be perfect. But alas the owners won't send him. Maybe 2027.
