Not the result we wanted, but it could be worse. If we better Oxford's result this midweek we are safe.

Can’t Leicester still overtake us? Win all 3 three and we lose all 3 they’ll be above us on GD?

Depends if Blackburn lose their next game, as its Blackburn vs Leicester on the final day and they both cant overtake us

If we better Oxford's result we would have got at least a draw and Leicester can't catch us.

Oxford have got Sheffield Wednesday at home next Saturday. Of course nothing is guaranteed, but on current form you'd fancy them to win that.

Assuming they lose to Wrexham, we need a point from the next 2 games to be safe before the final game of the season, and avoid the nightmare scenario of Millwall losing against Oxford to send us down.

If Oxford somehow beat Wrexham, then the pressure is REALLY on us. Even a draw makes things far too close for comfort.

I can’t see us getting another point to be honest. We’ll be relying on others.

Not a dig at you personally but I dislike this mindset that if we stay up it’s because we relied on others. They might be getting points now but the ones we got earlier in the season have the same value. We will have earned staying up because that’s how leagues work.

    Indeed looking at games left.

Ipswich in a four way race to get automatic promotion.

Hull looking over their shoulder to keep last play off place.

Swansea nothing to play for but have the divisions top scorer.

    And points deductions for others…

I see staying up as successful of course but we are at best limping and if we don’t pick up another point, the reality is that we’ll be relying on other results out of our control to stay in the league.

I feel the opposite. Any game we have to dig in we're more likely to get points than when we're expected to do something.

Wednesday are a different case because their financial issues mean their squad is poor. Leicester got deducted 6 points and are 9 behind us so their deduction isn’t particularly relevant

Ipswich just struggled away at Portsmouth who recently lost 6-1 and looked poor today vs. a Leicester side we beat 2-1
  • All eyes on Oxford v Wrexham on Tuesday night. From their last 5 home games Oxford have won 3 and drawn 2 - need that unbeaten run to come to an end. Wrexham's play-off push took a turn for the better today, with them gaining to within 2 points of 6th placed Hull.

Wrexham offered next to nothing at ours and sneaked a win. Looked very average. In other games they've played expansively and bullied sides. Find it hard to call but if Oxford win or draw, then beat Wednesday, and we fail to beat either Ipswich or Hull, that R number is still alive going into the final game.

I'd have bitten your hand off a year ago to be this close to safety before the final day of the season

Oxford have done well to make a fight of it and it’s not beyond them, but if WBA don’t get a points deduction, they’re looking at overturning a 5 pt gap to catch WBA and Blackburn, and a 6 pt gap to us.

If they lose one more of the three games, they can only equal our points total.  They have such little margin for error.

On the other hand, as Pompey have shown, you can win 3 in a week.  They win on Tuesday against Wrexham, we lose to Ipswich, the gap is 3 points with them then play SheffWed next week.  You would expect them to have enough with their tails up if the gap to us is 3 points.

It’s the reversal next sat for them.  We kick off at 12.30, they kick off at 3.  They could know they could go level on points with us before kicking off against Wednesday

Also, don’t forget Blackburn in all this.  If they lose to Sheff Utd on Tuesday, they then don’t play again until Leicester on the final day, all the while sat on 49.  Leicester will be gone by then, so great final fixture, but uncomfortable if they don’t win against Sheff Utd and Oxford beat Wrexham

    We beat Leicester 2-0

Sheffield Wednesday at home is the only game this season where we conceded a goal, but won.

Hull is the only game I can see us picking up points. They've fallen off recently with only 1 win in 5 and they will most likely drop out of the play offs.

Any team with half an idea of how to even kick a football forward will tear us a new one no matter how shit their form . Zero points from these next two games

    Oxford won’t win
    we won’t lose
pompey won’t win if Leicester don’t lose
Leicester won’t win if Pompey don’t lose
    WBA won’t win

    4 out of 5 correct 😉

    the two that mattered correct

This is Charlton, anything can happen ... the more impossible it is the more likely it is to happen!
  • Was delighted to see Wrexham win today and Hull draw.  Wrexham go to Oxford with some confidence and really up for the game given how close they are to the play offs.  Hopefully they beat Oxford and we take one further step closer.

Awful but TBF the only form guide that really counts is the one over the next 3 games
