They’ll never let it happen it football. We’re second class citizens as far as central government are concerned. That’ll never change.
A few countries abroad allow it.
I think many. Spain Italy Germany. Seems to be absolutely fine and additive to the experience, from my experiences.
Spain is different because football is less 'tribal' there and you get hardly any away followings at most games.

But if they can make it work in Italy and Germany then i don't see why it can't work in England. I'd say they probably shouldn't allow it for local derbies or high risk games though. The local police are never going to allow it at Newcastle v Sunderland for example. But if you're at Charlton v Preston, there's really not much reason people shouldn't be able to drink.

I'd honestly be surprised if they allow it anywhere though, as there's not much to suggest it will do anything other than result in a higher number of arrests across the country.
Funny enough alcohol is banned in the Bernabeu.
Yes looking into it, i think alcohol is banned at all stadiums in Spain. Which actually surprises me as (like i mentioned above) you get hardly any away fans at games.

Went to Barcelona on a stag do years ago and took in a game late Saturday night. We'd all been on it all day (of course) and were amazed they allowed you to booze in your seat! There were a few grumbles about the quality of the beer...then we realised it was alcohol free! You could buy a proper beer at the bar, just not allowed to take it through to the stand. Bunch of idiots ha!

When we went to the Women’s Euros in Switzerland we were allowed to drink in our seats. In the ‘beer’ line there was only some sort of gassy Eurofiz lager but as it was summer and hot it did a job and pleasant to be allowed to drink in your seat as you can watching other sports.

Absolutely no chance. Too many 18-25 year old tw@ts about these days that would be lobbing it in the air at every goal, same sort of ppl that force 'limbs' and jump down 2/3 rows at an away game just to post on their snapchat stories. No, ta.

All Women's Super League clubs can offer alcohol to supporters in the stands from the start of next season.

It follows two seasons of successful alcohol trials in the WSL and WSL 2 and received the shareholders' approval.

During the 2025-26 season, 20 clubs took part in the trials at 29 venues and across 190 fixtures in England's top two tiers.

Clubs do not need to supply alcohol if they do not want to and can choose whether to provide it at some of their playing venues and not at others.

Everton and promoted Charlton Athletic confirmed on Monday they would continue to supply alcohol at games.

A rule preventing the consumption of alcohol in view of the pitch has been removed by the league's governing company, WSL Football.
The Sporting Events Control of Alcohol Act prevents drinking alcohol when facing the pitch at men's football matches at professional level in England, Scotland and Wales.

Would this mean having bars open during the game ,if so you will get a continual procession of people up and down replenishing their drinks. You will also get the drinks being placed on the floor, getting knocked over by people coming and going.Leave it as it is,people can go for 45 minutes wothout a drink.

Don't think that drinking at football should actually be illegal by the law. This was meant to be an emergency measure put in place after Hillsborough while they sorted things out.

But I think very few clubs would allow it. Just as they have banned smoking although it is legal outside!

Could be OK for the boxes behind the East stand although it is currently illegal!

I can't see the rule changing. Fans can still drink alcohol before and after the game and at half time so not sure clubs are missing out on a lot of revenue.

You say that but in the NFL, where you can drink during a game, teams earn a lot more from the matchday experience than English football clubs do. One of the factors drinking inside the seated areas.
NFL games last for bloody hours though with only 60 mins of action - I'd need a fair few pints to actually sit through one!

It drives me mad at rugby games when there is a constant stream of people going to the bar and toilet. Let's keep football as it is, please. We can all manage to wait 45 minutes for a drink!
