It's The Sun, you reckon they ask anyone permission for anything?
Has appeared all over the place, not just The Sun.
Aappears to me that the Police wanted it to be seen.
The Press still have to abide by contempt of court rules, to ensure no prejudice takes place before any future trial takes place.
On what basis does it "appear to you" that the police would want a video circulated of an arrest operation against a person who is, as yet, not charged?

Maybe so they can be seen to be on top of things.
Why have the Press released it otherwise?

I would stop speculating and wait for the police investigation to be concluded

Because they do what they want for the clicks.

Police demonstrate they are "on top of things" by releasing information stating they have apprehended a suspect in connection with their investigation, which they did before the tawdry tabloid published the video.

The video does not tell you anything you didn't already know about the ongoing operation of the investigation.

The video was only published by the Sun in order to satisfy and develop macabre curiosity and ghoulish criminophilia. The task facing the police has not been made easier by the release of the video. Ergo, the police would not have benefited from its release.

It’s human nature to speculate. Pretty pointless telling people not to.

Just wait for the police investigation. Apart from close family, no one else needs to know, and they will be kept informed as much as they can be by the FLO

The problem comes when speculation becomes mis/disinformation, leading to more violence. Innocent people have been targeted because speculation becomes the truth for some.

It can be harmful. And it is of no benefit whatsoever.

So, when the police and victims' families express requests not to entertain wild, thoughtless speculation, it's better not to.

    But, you do you.

Confirmed it was a targeted attack.
