    I’d guess that McNamara saying it was all done very quickly suggests that Osei-Tutu did fail his medical and we jumped to DM as the next back up/experienced option at rb. 

    I’m warming to the fact that he seems a bit of a shithouse. I saw the thing with Mesik at Gillingham and thought the same thing.

    A CACT article from almost exactly a decade ago. Interesting the four names mentioned in the article (McNamara, Arter, Elliot and Dack) all ended up at clubs higher than we were over the course of their career. Another coincidence is that McNamara and Arter were both born in Sidcup whereas Elliott and Dack were born in Greenwich. Only one of those, Elliot, wasn't released as a youngster.

    Yes a lot of Millwall fans thought he’d be going to Cambridge or Bromley.

    Bit too much negativity on this thread for my liking. 

    Not saying it’s a signing which will improve our starting line up, but seems a strong squad member with plenty of Championship experience.

    I'm going to assume he's coming in as a right-sided CB option, because he is very much not a wing-back. Unless we are going to see some four-at-the-back stuff this season?

    Although I've just checked how good he is in the air and there's not a CB there.  :D

    Maybe he's just nice to have around the place.

    The word on the street is that Jones is going 4-2-3-1 this season. My worry is we'll be more exposed/less tight than last year, but without the real attacking quality to compensate at the other end, but let's see who comes in to complete the squad. Think we all agree they need to be players that really improve us.

    All points to us playing a flat back 4 this season.

    RB Ramsay/McNamara (Sichenje back up)
    LB Mesik/Edwards (Bell back up)
    RCB Jones/Sichenje/Burke
    LCB Koumetio/Bell (Gough back up unless being loaned)

    Would not be surprised to see a CDM signing in the mould of Coady (but not Coady) who can drop in and help sweep in a 5 when our backs are against the wall in game or if we want to shut up shop. 

    Hope we are going to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-1-3 as both are more exciting to watch.

    He would have to go a long way and add a lot of years experience of real South London rivalry to be in the same league of Harry Cripps and Eamon Dunphy in that respect yet we signed both of those and got promoted with them in the side.

    Not bothered he played for Millwall,supports Millwall etc etc. Looks a solid back up, I'll judge him on how he plays for us. Doubt he'll kiss the badge though 😁

    Seems like a solid signing to me. Not a hradline maker, but 100+ games in the Championship suggests he's got something about him.

    He was released by us as a youngster and later picked up by Millwall. At least he doesn't seem to hate us like Bradley Dack and others that were released.

    It was not him, as he was at the gate giving it to Charlton fans in the East Stand after the game.

    While signing an experienced backup right back who is defensive minded makes a lot of sense given we are going to a back four, our fans moods would be a lot better if we signed a midfielder/attacker.  After all, defense was not our weakness last year but we have mostly signed defenders so far

    I’d say it’s a significant downgrade on Clarke and a monumental downgrade on Bree. Not the end of the world as he’s only back up, but we’ve now boxed ourselves into sticking with 4 in defence.

    Well I for one am bowled over with delight at this signing. The bloke is just what we need. Not the missing piece of the jigsaw because we need a few more pieces but if the others are of similar quality, mid-table here we come, yaaaay!

    We're playing two goalkeepers per game next season.

    It’s a really interesting one. I completely understand the arguments about needing an income and not wanting to relocate, but at the same time, there is no way I could put on a Millwall shirt and go out and play for that club. I just couldn’t do it. 
    Luckily for Millwall I’m 55 and stopped playing football five years ago, so they’re not missing out.
