I would assume this is why we have apparently made contact to limited extents with the likes of Redmond and Dykes, who we may (have to) go back to IF the bigger targets dont come off, or perhaps we offer one or both lesser terms only once we know what we have left in the coffers.

Our two most recent signings have 3-400 Championship appearances between them so they have to have something about them at this level.
We've gone from signing Championship cast offs and League One prospects to established Championship players, that is a step up in quality. Maybe not a big one, maybe with many more steps up we still need to make but objectively we are improving the squad, albeit slowly.

This one felt inevitable. It's not a bad signing, but also not one that gets the heart racing. Which is fine. As many others have said, hopefully he's cover for, and not a replacement for, Ramsay.
Is he better than Clarke? Only time will tell. Not sure he gets forward all that well from the bits I've read/seen. Clarke wasn't perfect in the final third, mind. McNamara as always felt like a "trier" to me, not overly blessed with ability but works hard. There are worse things to be.
If we are going to a back 4 (and I suspect it may change week-to-week depending on the opposition), then the right fullback will be asked to do less getting forward as he'll have a winger in front of him to do that. Now, our dearth of right wingers is a problem (only context in which you'll ever hear me say that), but that's another issue to be addressed in the window.

Have to admit I'm kind of ambivalent about this one so far. For some reason he reminds me of a (much) younger Robert Knepper, especially in the video in front of the badge at the training ground.1

It’s definitely not one to set the pulse racing but he’s got bags of Championship experience. Local lad and by all accounts a decent defender and committed. For free that’s decent business. He’s not been brought in as an upgrade Ramsay. We now know that the club don’t expect Kayne to be leaving this window. He’s brought in as decent experienced cover without too much damage to the budget. Good business I’d say.7

Yeah Crama. Played there because we were desperate but turned out to be a great right back. Could defend and get forward. Created lots of chances and popped up with the odd goal. Danny is just a defender. A good one in my opinion, but that’s all you’re getting. Good to bring on in the final 10 or 20 minutes when you’re trying to see a game out. Which is what we used him for a lot of the time.Bedsaddick said:

He seems popular at Millwall for being a Millwall fan more than his playing ability. If we're to step up we need better than Millwall players who are not good enough for Millwall - as per this gentleman's views (7 minutes in).

Not sure I agree with this. We're a team who just scraped relegation and we've signed someone who was the back up RB for a play off team to be our back up RB.
