    likewise if Alli is Knibbs money, I’m not sure that is enough. Also Knibbs had 15 odd goals the season before which is still something I think we can hold on to. I am not seeing the goal contributions from Alli
    I'm still holding out hope we might break our transfer record for the right CM. Surely the budget is there to drop £5m on the right player? 
    This has to be the hope?
    Would make such a difference now with width and pace on both sides and the change away from poor standard wing-backs.
    Even without another addition up front I would hope we might create more for the forwards we have..........

    Last season we (just about) managed to stay up with a L1 budget. This season we seem to be trying the same trick. Unless we shell out on a very decent creative central mid, it's gonna be a repeat of last season, but I fear the ending won't be so kind to us this time around. Mbappe would stuggle to hit double figures in a season if he was relying on the likes of Doc, Cov & Carey to supply him.
    We didn't have a L1 budget, we had a low end Championship budget, and we finished low end in the Championship.

    I remember his first game for us at the Valley. I don't think I've ever seen a kid so frightened on his debut as Thomas was that day. Luckily for him he had Chris Powell shepherding him through it, if he hadn't been there I think it literally would have ended in tears.

    I’ll never forgive Jerome Thomas for Wycombe at home in league cup QF December 2006. Flew down midweek from Scotland for that. He was instrumental in moving me to sing for only time ever in decades of support “you’re not fit to wear the shirt”. 

    That match was also what led to me signing up on here. Oh for the lost days / hours 🤭

    We have bought pace with the Alli and Grant signings which we were missing last season….need a creative mid now!

    Some of the comments online form Luton and Pompey fans aren't great but to be honest i don't really take too much notice of what other fans say. 

    Players can sometimes struggle to show their full potential at a club or under a certain manager and then do really well at another club with a different manager. We've signed players in the past i thought would be great and they've turned out to be shit, and we've signed players that other clubs fans have slated and they're turned out to be decent.

    Last season we all had high hopes for Apter and were all pretty much unanimously unimpressed with the Fevrier signing, but which one worked out better? 

    We also need to factor in that if he was already a very good player at this level then he'd cost 5m+ and not signing for us. Our budget isn't huge so we have to take some gambles, hopefully he works out.
