The commodification of Daniel Kanu is kind of sad.
Daniel is a credit to himself and our club.
Anything that happens now ought to respect the player his humanity and his wishes, just as much as being convenient for Charlton Athletic.

Might not be willing to sign a new contract, so it's a bit of money and a decent sell-on fee this year, or the risk of an Aribo type move next year.se9addick said:

Problem is you want to be ruthless but you still need other teams to want your players. The fact we’re struggling to find Kanu a move after the season he’s just had shows it’s much harder than you would thinkYann897 said:

The fact that Brighton were interested would sound promising.
It does seems a wild claim to say the best striker CAFC has produced in 20 years until I realized that Defoe left 27 years ago plus Lisbie is a tad over 20 years.
Other than Kanu and Leaburn we haven't 'produced' too many strikers ?
Karlan Grant is a forward who was and even now will be seen on either wing and going down the middle which we have seen in both Cheltenham and Derby matches. A versatile forward rather than just a striker.
Ademola Lookman came to Charlton at 16 so still qualified as an academy player so we can claim to have produced him on his journey from Waterloo boys team who made the long trips in the Tandridge league.
If Mbick has a career as good as Lookman it will be brilliant for him and CAFC, probably more for the multi millions he brings to us rather than many Games in our 1st team.
We need to get 5 million + add ons for one of our ex academy boys soon to make the outlay worth it.
If Leaburn and TC can play like they have started this season then we need Tyreece to sign the new contract ASAP with the escape clause being set at a higher level than 5 million because he may just make the big time.

he can bully defenders
hes confident yet still humble
He can create goals himself
provided this injury hasn’t damaged him he can be the real deal. He needs a bit of time and patience to get fully fit
Brighton initially offered £3m to take the piss. £3m for a player in L2 is unheard of but we got them to £5m because they can clearly see the potential and they are the absolute masters of talent spotting over the last 10 years or so.
if he can get even a few goals in the Championship he’s in the £10m bracket because of his age, size and the fact he is English. We had to hold on to him because this boy can fund the academy for many years when he does go if we can get it done properly.A good comparison is Brian Madjo at Villa. They paid £10m and he’s scored 2 goals for Metz B team and that’s it. He may be younger but the similarities are there to see - Mbick could easily be “that guy”

I saw Paul Walsh and Joe Gomez as 16 year old's and knew they were exceptional straight away.
The same with Paul Elliott at just 17.
I didn't automatically feel that with Mbick but then I never saw him in the academy games and when he played his handful of 1st teams games for CAFC that I saw, he just wasn't ready unlike Walsh, Gomez and Elliott at the same age.
I have always believed Kanu will have a good career, even in the Championship so I would prefer Daniel goes out on loan for the season to a League 1 side and when we sell Mbick at the end of the season if not in January then there maybe room for Kanu if we haven't already sold him.
Looking forward to seeing the talent come to fruition for Micah and hopefully some of it with CAFC.

It's Charlton's valuation that's causing them to hesitate.
Charlton have a valuation for a full international striker, and people moan the valuation is putting people off.
If they sold him for £250k, the same people would moan we sold him 'on the cheap'...22 -

Agree with this if the Premier team pay most of the wages.
Because of the wage structure in the Premier, Freddie Woodman left Preston at 28 years old where he was number 1 for most of his stay there, to go to Liverpool to be Number 3 because of the wages.
He only got on once so far.
Ben Hamer left Charlton when he was the number 1 to go to Leicester the same week Schmeichel signed a 5 year extension to his contract.
I said to Ben Roberts is that because he believes he can claim the 1st team shirt ? And Roberts gave the answer I half expected: "No, its for the money"

He is in for a shock if he signs then.
