Miles Leaburn - Signs New 3 Year Contract (p77)

He got a knee in his lower back towards the end of added time. I hope it doesn't cause him too many issues going forward. He went down in pain when the final whistle went. He was the game changer, scared the living daylights out of their defense. There's a player there we just have to play to this strengths. Really like him when he gets the ball to his feet.8

He totally changed the game today. Super performance2

This is the most encouraging thing to read as it was something that needed improvementDamoNorthStand said:Totally outstanding today. All of a sudden Sanderson looked all at sea…. Looks to have a yard more pace…. Intelligent with his flicks when he does win it…… his potential is still sky high0 -
I think you can tell quite quickly with Miles what type of performance he’s going to put in, today his first action was to absolutely flatten Sanderson as he tried to block him from pressing the keeper after their kick off, that set the tone for rest of his performance, totally dominated all of Derbys defence and in my eyes earned himself a start at the bowl next week3
-
Maybe that was part of Jones’s thinking - give Godden a starting position and challenging Miles to show he deserves to take that place. As others have already said, Leaburn has everything he needs to become a really great striker if he can finally have an extended period of consistent good form.Marriott110 said:I think you can tell quite quickly with Miles what type of performance he’s going to put in, today his first action was to absolutely flatten Sanderson as he tried to block him from pressing the keeper after their kick off, that set the tone for rest of his performance, totally dominated all of Derbys defence and in my eyes earned himself a start at the bowl next week

I've been highly critical of Miles but today he proved he can be a valuable asset to us. I just hope he can have that impact consistently!2

Feels like this post on X could be about Miles and to a lesser extent Mbick.
https://x.com/ifbmedia/status/2090905778039247056?s=46&t=A-w3Eq0EWWpjMxring904QEvan Ferguson is 2 months shy of his 22nd birthday…..So I decided to have a look at where certain strikers were at his age.Jamie Vardy (23) - Halifax Town (Northern Premier League)Didier Drogba (22) - Le Mans (Ligue 2)Luca Toni (23) - Vicenza (Serie
Olivier Giroud (22) - Tours (Ligue 2)Miroslav Klose (22) - FC Homburg (German 5th tier)Ian Wright (21) - Greenwich Borough (semi-pro/non-league)Antonio Di Natale (22) - Empoli (Serie
Kevin Phillips (22) - Watford (Second Division)Ciro Immobile (22) - Pescara (Serie
Mario Mandžukić (22) - Dinamo Zagreb (Croatian First League)John Aldridge (22) - Newport County (Fourth Division)Tony Cascarino (22) - Gillingham (lower English divisions)George Weah (22) - Invincible Eleven (Liberian league)Henrik Larsson (21) - Helsingborgs IF (Swedish second tier)Jean-Pierre Papin (21) - Valenciennes (Ligue 2)Javier Hernández (22) - Chivas Guadalajara (Liga MX)Diego Costa (23) - Rayo Vallecano (loan, La Liga)Duván Zapata (24) - Udinese (loan, Serie A)Diego Milito (24) - Genoa (Serie
Gerard Moreno (24) - Espanyol (La Liga)Footballers develop at different rates, stages and on different trajectories…Development is not linear, and that’s even more so the case for central strikers IMHO when compared with other “attackers”.Yes, after exploding onto the scene far earlier than the majority of names we’ve listed here, we’d all have liked Evan Ferguson to be already playing at the levels we know he’s capable of and consistently.Had it not been for a tackle from Mr Fabinho, I’d very much argue the case that we’d have already reached that stage. That’s football though; nobody knows what’s in store for anyone, and nothing is guaranteed. Evan is no different. But those amateur comedians who are writing him off and slating him when he’s yet to even turn 22?Take a long hard look at yourselves because that’s absolutely pathetic, and in no other aspect of life would it be considered acceptable.Players see what’s posted online. I know this for a fact, and that includes Evan.Back Evan, get behind him. You may be shocked how quickly things can turn! 😉15 -
Bang on. Said it forever on here. If you are the height of Leaburn, M'Bick, Evan etc it takes a long time to fully grow into your body.
Any one with half a brain can see Leaburn has the tekkers, I still expect him to be a top player in his career and spend time in the Premier League. Hopefully it will be with us18 -

Superb performance today, the way he held the ball up and played it to the 3 attacking players playing behind him. Brilliant work for the second goal too6
-
Better option in that system than Godden.
Fully expecting him and Kelman to compete for that spot and Godden/Mbick to be backup.2 -
I hoped he'd make some people eat their words this season.
Well, eat them.

He and TC clicking at the same time. We deserve this.10

Still looks like he’s maybe a half a yard slower than the 18 year old Miles that first burst into the team, but he’s stronger and meaner and starting to learn how to use that bulk. The layoff while holding off their centre half that set away Carey and Karlan, plus the subsequent run that Carey should have fed was top drawer. It was reminiscent of what Godden brings as a hold up player. What the run also showed is that the even if he is a half yard slower it only a half yard vs maybe a full yard a year ago.
Also, that loss of pace is off set by having fast and energetic runners around him, on all sides, in TC, Carey, and Karlan.
Consistency is what we need next but some super signs that he is maturing and proving suitable for the new system.
Very exciting.7 -
Leaburn's biggest problem has always been following a good performance with another one. If he can solve that then he has so much potential. Let's hope his next game is just as good10

It’s possibly a blessing for him in an odd way that his main strength is no longer pace. Helps him develop a stronger all round game and will give him more longevity as a player too. Different position but reminiscent of Alfie Doughty post his serious hamstring injury.1

It's not unusual for players to look noticeably slower in the Championship than in League One. Kayne Ramsay is the obvious example.Exiled_Addick said:Still looks like he’s maybe a half a yard slower than the 18 year old Miles that first burst into the team, but he’s stronger and meaner and starting to learn how to use that bulk.
