Ilves central midfielder Otto Tiitinen looks to be moving to championship club, Charlton Athletic.

Initially a loan deal with an option to buy.

Medical to take place on Monday, with Tittinen joining the reserves/u21 Initially working towards being part of the championship squad in the future.

My Finnish isn't perfect,  but I would say that's fairly accurate.

Searching his games on Transfermarkt, I am thrilled to announce the existence of the following lower-league Finnish club

There also a certain club who I’m convinced play 4-3-2-1 🎄

SexyPöxyt (“SexyPants”, with “Pöxyt” being a playful version of “Pöksyt”) :) They play in Miesten Kolmonen, the 5th tier. Elite level logo.

Hopefully Tiitinen’s transfer goes through. It’s great to see some Finnish players at Charlton!

EDIT: While they’re at it, they might as well go and sign Siltanen from Djurgården. ;)

  • I guess the JRS move only happens if Palace agree to drop the price substantially in light of what has been discovered (to say £1m).

Seems like he would be able to secure a move when a big fee is not involved, as he has successfully done so multiple times in the last few years (when the risk to the buyer was less & only a modest loan fee was involved).

It’s very strange that he passed medicals at Sheff Utd, Stoke, a Turkish club & us over the last 4 years but has suddenly failed this one.

If this problem is likely to come up again (& it may have already done so when he failed to move last summer & bizarrely ended up going to Turkey) then Palace need to decide whether a small fee this summer is better than no fee at all next summer.

They are v.unlikely to find any club happy to pay £4m for him if he comes with a medical issue & consequently big insurance challenges.
I think it’s been mentioned a few times now, you don’t fail a medical, it determines how much your player will cost to insure. Against a £4m+ fee and paying all of his wages over 4 years the stakes are a lot higher than a season loan where only part of his wages are being paid. For a club with a small budget like ours this is crucial. I’m sure a club with parachute payments could afford to take more of a risk.

player I know a lot about,  having seen him play for ilves over the last couple of years.

Had a dream debut against HJK at just 16, scored two class goals.

Great vision,  technically very good and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Good awareness for a player of his age. Still young and quite raw though and will need to develop physically.

Had a few injury issues over the past couple of seasons so charlton would need to monitor him closely.

Has the potential to really push on but will need to adjust to the physicality and pace of English football.

Why does the journalist say he plays for HJK? From what I can see he’s plays for Ilves. Doesn’t make him look like a reliable source.

FM says he’s a left footed DM/CM, rated as a good prospect but not one for the first team.

Fun to have a random foreign player linked in a more unusual loan to our u21s deal. Reminds me of us signing Jani Tanska and Rurik Gislason, neither who made it.

Ilves have a great badge btw.

Rurik gislasson! I remember him lol!
    Martin Christensen
    The new ronaldo?

I hope we do go back for JRS really think he could make a difference in this side, especially with TC on the other wing. No idea why it's fallen though he doesn't seem particularly injury prone maybe it will be a late night deadline day deal. He needs to get away from Palace to further his career
Failed a medical = no insurance.

As I said earlier ask Patrice Muamba. Fit as a butcher's dogs, seemingly. Didn't stop him dropping down dead at White Hart Lane. Ask Ericsson. A failed medical doesn't have to be a muscle problem.

And he'll still, I assume, have the same agent, especially if it's a family member. Do you think NJ and Rodwell will forget about  the past difficulties?

Water under the bridge, move on. The club have had to.
Are you hinting at JRS having a heart condition that a medical showed up?

I certainly hope not firstly for him personally and professionally believe in the right side he will be a top championship level player
I don't know. I could be completely wide of the mark. All I know is what we've been told. There are issues with his agent, and he failed a medical. A medical could discover many things. None of which we know. Nor should we.

But the club has made a decision to walk away. Considering hiow much some on this forum complain about some of our player injury records who haven't failed a medical, you would think CL should be delighted we walked away...

But they don't. Because they'd rather sign a JRS who failed a medical, than a Burke who didn't...
Where has it been confirmed that JRS failed a medical??
I’ve only seen it speculated but none of the trusted sources have added that to the issue with the agent(s)
A few ITKs have alluded to a medical issue. The club and Cawley cannot publish sensitive medical information. No one will ever state on record that a deal collapsed because of medical concerns, not if they want the possibility of getting sued by the parent club, you’re devaluing their asset.

I read a few years ago that the most popular programme on the Finnish wireless was a request programme……….for poetry!
I have always thought how cool is that.
A female ex colleague of mine once had an intense affair with a Finnish ‘voice poet’, which from what I could gather meant making a series of sounds without words and without singing.
She did finish (😀) her story by saying ‘it’s not something I’m proud of’ which was understandable as she was married at the time.

I actually really like this move? Probably initially for the U21s given his age so wouldn't have to register him yet for the First Team but it's looking at more untapped markets. Does remind me of the likes of Christensen,Goncalo Brandao and Ruben Yttergard Jensen who we signed in the prem days.

Sorry. Just catching up. So did JRS deal fall
apart due to a medical or was it his agent asking for more money ?
According to Louis Mendez on Charlton Live on thurs evening it was to do with his old agent wanting to muscle in on the deal. Pages back I equated it to an Estate Agent wanting their fee after you ditched them for a new EA who then sells your house.

But in true football style no one knows. Well they do, but they don't want to tell the most important people......the fans. Ju st like when we were under a transfer embargo back at the start of 2020. Football people knew but went along with our "chairman" and his super duper phone.

Football is so opaque you could take a shower and no-one would see your cock & balls.
So you’re demanding the club and respected journalists release sensitive and private medical information and potentially devalue the parent club’s asset and impact the player’s career just to satisfy your curiosity. Sometimes you just need to think a little before you post.

Please don’t equate the fraudulent actions of Southall to this situation, that is very distasteful.

Friend of mine has a Finnish football podcast, he’s English (West Ham) but married a Finnish girl and speaks the language. This is what he has to say.

‘He's regressed a bit since he made his wonder debut against HJK on the opening day of last season. He’s had a growth spurt and some injuries related to it. Seems to have lost a bit of his explosiveness as he's grown physically into a big lad. But he's a good technical midfielder with a good mindset to develop. Many of these kids end up coming back to Finland after a while but he has some chance of making it at Charlton’

Wonder how the deal would work, as you're only allowed four International Players who dont meet the work permit requirements of having played 75% of international games - Sichenje, Ouma and Mesik don't meet that, so wouldn't make sense wasting the fourth and final slot on someone who is going to sit in our U21s
This calculator thinks Mesík is eligible for a GBE with 20 points (you need 15) because he was playing in the Dutch top flight last year. That means we have 2 ESC (exemption) slots. The tool also thought that SIchenje might be eligible for a GBE via the exemptions panel. So we likely will still have 1 ESC slot after this loan if we want to use it

So you’ve forced the keeper into a save, but it’s a comfortable one?

How do the rules work around for example NZ winger from silkeborg does that still count as a foreign slot?

I know there are some niches around this in other leagues, for example in the Russian League players from Kazakhstan, Belarus etc all count as home grown and don’t apply to the foreign limit.

According to that calculator Fen posted we would need to use a slot on Mccowatt. Hasn't played enough mins for New Zealand and the Danish League doesn't have enough points itself.

So are we assuming the Bindon loan is pretty much a done deal?, not seen anymore about it.

Surprised by Mccowatt, makes sense why he hasn’t been on the move maybe?

It's giving me 8 points in total when I put him in.
