Gonna need a corner flag statement from all the “ITK’s” that claimed we were still getting Rak Sakyi back.

I'm genuinely quite intrigued by the winger signing, if JRS was our first choice and by all accounts we had a big bid put forward then I am sure we could have redirected those funds towards a more "proven" winger - if this 19 year old with huge potential is what we opt for instead that suggests to me someone at the club sees really big things in his future. He has apparently had a fair bit of other interest too, so it doesn't actually seem quite as "any winger will do" as I first feared.
Jackson talks about him coming off the bench and having an impact - was hoping we were signing a starter there as think we need it  - maybe we still will
    Exactly this.
He is being used as an impact sub by Wimbledon,  so there's no way he will be in our starting eleven.
We are taking a punt that he can develop and in time be an asset to us.
But being so close to signing JRS and instead getting a youngster who may or may not come good does feel a little underwhelming.

I would ask my Leicester mate about Skipp, but he's one of the most negative blokes in the world and would tweet Schmeichel after every game calling him shit.

I don't think he's ever said a player is good except Vardy, Mahrez and Kante.
Tbf to Skipp  having Kante as the benchmark for a good midfielder at Leicester completely screws the whole grading
Exactly. Their PL success wasn't that long ago. All their fans remember it and naturally everyone since will be seen as shit.

In any case, there's countless cases in football where fans of a club think a player is shit and he does well. Kermorgant for us, and SImon Francis leaving us are the main two that spring to mind. Coady and Fevrier last season and even at the start of this season i wasn't too enthused at us signing Millwall McNamara and he's already a player where i'd be disappointed if he wasn't starting.

I think people need to stop arguing whether he is or isn't shit and just wait until he's at least played a few games. He might turn out decent, he might be terrible and he might not actually even sign!

To be honest i'm not even too fussed about Skipp, i'm more annoyed that our 4m star right winger signing has turned into some random kid from Wimbledon that no one has heard of.

What a let down. If that's the only winger then that's crap. I know nothing about the kid but if he's a 'proper talent' someone would've taken him earlier and not just linked with supposed clubs.
Just like someone would've signed TC if he was a "proper talent"? All sorts of reasons why a 19 year old might not want to move away from London (even if he is Catalan)

He sounds very similar to you. No wonder you get along.
I support Leicester and tweet at Schmeichel after every game?

    News to me.

Skipp and Nkeng might end up being great, but they have the slight Temu version of Holsgrove and JRS right now 🤣

On the subject of Leicester fans being toxic lunatics, I've just looked on their subreddit and over the summer they seem to have spent a not trivial amount of time putting together an XI of the worst performances they saw last season, which absolutely cannot be healthy. It doesn't make Skipp good (he made the team by the way) but it also doesn't mean they're a reliable source for judging Leicester players.

If someone from the Championship had taken Leaburn off us at 19 we would have been absolutely gutted and said how envious we were of that forward thinking club (e.g. when Brentford took Konsa off of us). A player doesn’t need to be a ‘BIG’ name in order to be an excellent signing.

Trying not to be pessimistic but feel we’re doing ourselves a disservice by not getting a starting quality right winger, half the year putting players who prefer to play elsewhere there rather that get someone natural for the role

Ademola Lookman was allowed to play 21 L1 games after clearly showing his talent in 24 Championship games the previous season before someone came in for him. The idea that a teenager isn't a good prospect because he's not been snapped up the second the transfer window opened is a very strange one.

Whatever happened to Samson Tovide, we we were after him not too long ago from what I remember

Nkeng looks a serious talent but again we’re relying on someone from L1 to come in and hit the ground running right away? I’d be surprised if we’re going down that route again. I hope the club have plans to bring in another winger, despite what Cawley is saying.

He only turned 19 a month ago & has only played 24 games in the EFL.

Maybe one for the future (and we had one of those in Dixon) but you really can't compare him to JRS.

Nkeng makes total sense tbh. Jones loves nothing more than a young player he can mould to his footballing image. Get ready for those defensive covering runs, Junior

Your point is weak. We need a winger and this is it but you choose to make a comparison to TC and living in London. No I wouldn't want to sign a 19 year old TC right now for what we need. Helmet.

Know next to nothing about Skipp but he was part of a serially underperforming team at Leicester so that goes against him.

Leicester fans hated Coady and Yann, both of whom were great for us so maybe a change of scene will suit him.

Wiki says he's a defensive midfielder who breaks up play, do we need another of those even if Doc leaves? Jones clearly thinks so but he's not the attacking no.10 many wanted.

We shall see but the moaners have what they wanted.  The rest of the window will be ignored by them because the last two signing don't meet their exacting standards.

He’s gone very downhill, think he’s without a club but Colchester will be owed compensation if he moves which means he’s struggling to find a move. Lucky escape we avoided that one

Nkeng being the only winger brought in is a bit underwhelming. We desperately need a quality right winger who can provide on the opposite flank what TC does so well on the left.

After all the talk about keeping our powder dry and bids for a fan favourite like JRS, it's hard not to feel a little disappointed to end up with a 19-year-old, right-footed left winger, who is a bench option at AFC Wimbledon.

Maybe an excellent signing for the future, but it doesn't feel like one that solves our current needs.

Absolutely no need to resort to name calling just because someone disagrees with you on a forum designed for discussion

Very odd, did he just refuse a new contract at Colchester because he thought he’d go higher up the pyramid or was he let go?

We have Alli, we might even still have Apter at the end of today. Big chance for both of them and Nkeng to claim the spot, and if not we can look again in January
