Back to Thames Path, Woolwich and that curly hill.
My third fastest parkrun and 41 seconds quicker than my last at that run back at the end of June.
No Parkruns now until the start of November but will now step it up and run at least 1 x 30 minute run a week1 -
Big congrats to @ThreadKiller who recorded a huge PB this morning.Has been really inspiring seeing your continued progress mate 💪5

Done a Dutchy one yesterday….1

Mr F plans to complete a Park Run around his 80th birthday in November in Dunloran Park, Tunbridge Wells.
Anyone on here completed this one ?1 -

It’s a hilly one, and can get very muddy in winter.1

Haha, thanks. A big shout out to my coach, ChatGPT.AFKABartram said:Big congrats to @ThreadKiller who recorded a huge PB this morning.Has been really inspiring seeing your continued progress mate 💪
Wasn't aiming for a PB and was really surprised to achieve it. HM in a couple of weeks is what I'm really after3 -
At stupidly short notice, I've just been offered a charity place at the Great South Run next month, fundraising for Parkrun. So now suddenly trying to get myself ready to tackle 10 miles around Portsmouth.
Wish me luck with the training...

Good luck @cafcrocky87, I'm sure you'll be fine mate. Let us know how it goes, is one I have considered for next year

First time running today after suffering ciprofloxacin-induced Achilles problems in May, completely trashed my plans for the Vitality 10k, was training well before and was going to aim for about an hour getting round. All going to be taken slowly, load more and more and hope it's not a chronic problem5

Cheers - tore my calf in March and knocked me back a fair bit, so hopefully I can go the distance. Will let you know!DoctorCharlton said:Good luck @cafcrocky87, I'm sure you'll be fine mate. Let us know how it goes, is one I have considered for next year0 -
We ventured to Brockenhurst for today's parkrun on their winter course. Beware, their summer course is 4 times around a college playing field. The winter course is an interesting, enjoyable and undulating 1 lap through the New Forest on gravel tracks. For almost the first time ever I had to walk the last 20 metres of one hill.2

Brockenhurst winter route in brilliant. That hill is savage. Parking is tricky though, it's better to get there super early or you need to park quite distance for a warmup stroll/jog! It would just be too popular in summer and parking unmanageable so I've never done the summer route. I go to Lymington instead which they have a new route for and it's very nice.Hex said:We ventured to Brockenhurst for today's parkrun on their winter course. In my running news, yesterday I ran my second marathon of the year! Ironman Italy, finished on a little over 13 hours! Bit achey today but I'm going to eat soooo much pizza!8 -
I went to Jeskyns Community Woodland, which was great, and will be even better when/if the crowds thin out a little. Someone from here said hello to me and I stupidly forgot to ask their name, so if that was you, sorry!
VItality 10k next weekend - this seemed like a good idea at the time but I've barely run beyond parkrun this year. Fingers crossed for friendly weather.2 -
I did Brockenhurst winter course a couple of weeks ago. I have some bias because of childhood holidays, but I think it's my new favourite English parkrun.I've done all available European countries now. In May Norwegian Air cancelled our Stockholm trip with 4 hours' notice (still no compensation), so I went to Gothenburg last week and did Skatas. It's delightfully Scandinavian, starting by some chalets then into woodland and around a lake. I got 3 football games in as well.5

Sorry that was me. I didn't want to take up your time as you seemed to be in a group.InspectorSands said:I went to Jeskyns Community Woodland, which was great, and will be even better when/if the crowds thin out a little. Jeskyns Community Woodland is a good run although hillier than I expected. That little stretch of the A2 is very well serviced for ParkRuns

I remember that was a nuisance for me a while while back…0 -
I've nearly finished my Couch to 5K and planning to get back on the Dover Parkrun on Saturday week. I've had Steve Cram as mentor on the C25k app and he's bloody brilliant. He says' We're approaching halfway in this session and you will hear the bell, so if you're heading away from home, now's the time to turn round.

It was no bother, it was good to see you!ThreadKiller said:

I was saying on the way back that there's now a nice little stretch of runs down there. All of them still seem to be thriving, which is really good to see. I don't know the area very well but I wonder if any more will appear along the A2/M2.Fumbluff said:

Yup, only J south of the Thames, so catnip for alphabet hunters. Which is fair enough, and maybe I will go to Lincoln City away to do Yarborough Leisure Centre to complete the set, but there was a round of a applause for someone who'd completed their sixth alphabet...
Because Jeskyns is also fairly new, there'll also be a lot of people trying to do the Wilson index (doing an event number 1 somewhere, then a 2, 3, 4, etc), which I really don't get the appeal of, but some are really into it.

Haha, yeah I tired of the alphabet game when I got it down to Y, I will get to Yarborough or York one day, just can’t be agged atm.InspectorSands said:

Amazing moment at Avery Hill this moment as a lady glided past me on the first lap saying ‘Morning’ and I looked over to see it was Dame Kelly Holmes!
One of my absolute idols and got to speak with her briefly after. Ive not been well last fortnight and had to really force myself out this morning but so glad I did. Still smiling now.17 -
I ran the Vitality 10k today and set myself the target of getting round in under an hour. I did the first 5k in 28min and was feeling good, but sadly I hit the wall with 1.5k to go and finished in 1hour 1min.
I gave it my all, and even got asked by a paramedic if I was alright, so no regrets.
A great event with fantastic volunteers, and I will be back next year, which will be my third attempt in a row to get under 1 hour.
Oh the agony! hahaha!13 -
I did the Vitality 10k too - only 90 seconds slower than last year despite having run very little for ages. Pleased with that. The crowds were amazing. I'd questioned my sanity in doing it but it was a good morning.larryorcolin said:I ran the Vitality 10k today and set myself the target of getting round in under an hour. So I’m running the London Marathon next year! For Alzheimer’s Society. A charity very close to my heart, with both of my grandmothers suffering with dementia, couldn’t think of a better charity to run for.
as I’ve already raised £100 for them, they’ve given me a coopah subscription that I can use until the marathon. Not used it before, anybody given it a go? And if so, is it worth doing?1 -
Mr F planning to take his ParkRun plunge tomorrow at Dunloran Park in TW, just over 4 weeks before the BIG 80 (years, not kms)
Loud snoring expected by 3pm

I did my first Parkrun in 12 years today at Dover. I set out with 3 objectives, 1) to run the whole course 2) keep it under 45 minutes and 3)not to come last. All 3 objectives achieved! Did a time of 41.12, paced with my daughter Clare who helped me along. The time was a bit off of my PB 27.03 which that was achieved in 2012 when I was a bit younger. Dover is lovely run around the harbour, very flat and all on the same surface as opposed to Avery Hill. All very friendly and had a coffee with some of the other runners in one of the new cafes in the town. Looking forward to the next one. P.S. came 2nd in my age category of 70-75 but didn't see the other bloke
Finished 168th out of 176 starters. 8 -
I did the Epping Valley 50k ultra yesterday - and diverted to Walthamstow parkrun at 8:50 for a total of 57.6km.
The race was really good, there's a green belt from Wanstead to the top of the M25, it's all woodland and long parts are quiet.
Camino the organisers were extra friendly too. They have a Lea Valley 50k in March that I aim to do, and also a 100k in Vauxhall in June where you do 4 out and backs in different directions... I think that's a step too far me, especially in summer.5
