The difficulty in any debate here is that we forced out Doc
I don't think Doc was necessarily forced out by Ouma. Skipp was signed after the Chalobah injury, after Ouma was signed and before Doc was released.
    He was 100% forced out

He wasn’t good enough .  The fact that some of the others aren’t either doesn’t contradict that.

Can't lay too much on Doherty being the saviour we don't have. I like him, never hid, always worked his cods off and led by example never pulled out of anything. Granted his second touch was often a tackle however is more of a player than Ouma

Exactly. It’s called the Charlton life affect,….. player isn’t good enough and needs to leave, he leaves and is remembered  as Ronaldo

the other side of the Charlton life affect coin

weve signed the best player in the world, two months later - our recruitment is worse than oxfords!

The amount we've had in for polishing over the past 4 seasons makes the mind boggle!
Shocker as football club with low budget tries to develop rough diamonds - more as we have it
Other teams in limited budget have done it. Portsmouth, Cardiff, Oxford to an extent.

We don’t recruit well, for whatever reasons we fail to attract the right players to the club
Agreed. What we wouldn't give for a Kayne Ramsay, a Lloyd Jones, a Josh Edwards, a Conor Coventry, a Billy Koumetio, a Sonny Carey. One day maybe
    As opposed to a
    Rob Apter
    Harvey Knibbs
    Timothy Ouma
    Dan Potts
    Allan Campbell
    Kezenga Lua lua
    Onel Hernandez
    Tanto Oloafe

Potts, Campbell, Lua Lua and Hernandez were all short term punts and were suitably released at the earliest opportunity. Ouma was also a punt, hence why he was signed on loan with an option to buy. So that leaves Apter, Knibbs and Olaofe.
And knibbs was a great save away from scoring yesterday. Only really leaves Olafe and apter as flops (mostly likely due to attitude of both).
Carey, Knibbs and Costello were all signed to play as 10.
None of them can. I would say that is a definition of a flop.
lol, our top goalscorer last season was a flop? Have a word.

He was good enough to play most of games last season though? And now we are playing someone who got relegated last season?

All that said I dont think Jones is to blame for getting rid of players he doesnt want, if anything thats a ruthless streak which, whilst ugly to watch, is needed. However is he to blame for not getting netter through the door? Yes.

As a guess I reckon we thought we did have a considerably better player lined up to replace Doc, hence letting him go, then we cocked it up and took a punt on Ouma. The best scenario for Doc would have been a squad player which I doubt was an option in Docs eyes. Loved his effort but he clearly needed upgrading. Think the recruitment was generally a shitshow in midfield particularly.

I think you're right and i think we'd seen enough of Ouma to know he wasn't to be trusted by the end of the window (on the pitch) and when the Rak Saki thing went wobbly, we switched to Skipp. All in all, we probably anticipated having Holgrove or similar and Rak Saki in the squad, instead we've got Ouma and Skipp. We've done very well with Koumetio but the right winger and centre mid were the big one's needed to 'transform' us. That's life but what could have been... I'm sure NJ is as gutted as anybody so we just need to get on with it now.

Yes no choice but to dig in, the only thing I disagree with, I may be wrong but think Skipp was an emergency acquisition when Chalobah’s injury was seen to be longer term.

Ouma who goes on holiday more times than Alan Whicker and Chalobah who whilst playing is decent was brought in knowing there was a big risk given his recent injury record.

However much I'd like to let's not forget Ahadme  :'(
  • Does anybody know when Ouma arrived back in England, and when he was due back?
    I'm assuming he has.
No idea but the good news is there's another international break next month so he can go AWOL again.

He’s not back yet is he, that’s why Nathan was saying “well let you know when we’ve dealt with it…”

Sources say he’s not coming back until Amazon Prime day because he needs a heavily discounted coffee machine…

Horrific business, has a history of having a bad attitude, and when he has played for us has looked awful

A loan is hardly horrific business though ultimately.

Not like we've handed him a 4 year deal

When we are at squad limit and paying his wages it’s atrocious

Hopefully there was a clause in his contract should he go AWOL again we can cancel the contract immediately without having to pay out anymore dough.

Very quickly at a place where if Alan Mwamba doesn't develop quickly we are pretty stuck. Gotta hope Chalobah is back soon.

Cov and Skipp doesn't work as a pairing but right now it's all we've got. And I'm worried that we will run them into the ground and ine will pick up an injury then we really are screwed.

Has Kayne Ramsay ever played CM?
    Bindon could probably play there.

Seriously doubt it, never seen clubs terminate loans outside a window (except at non-league with different rules) otherwise you would see it all the time with player injuries or they’re just crap etc.

The loan may not be terminated but at the very least we have grounds to fine him a bit of his wages which is better than nothing. If anything I’m grateful because we’ve managed to avoid paying a fee and aren’t stuck with him for years

Unless you have proof otherwise with Ouma's contract,  I'll refer back to my original post.

The proof is that's just now how loans and transfer windows work. You can't terminate them outside of a transfer window. Notice how we kept CG until the window opened back in the day.

We probably could say we don't want him training with us and send him back to us parent club, but then he wouldn't be playing for anyone until January.

How disappointing, was genuinely super excited for young Timothy and thought from clips he seemed to be the spark and energy missing from our midfield but he's been crap and it truly is shocking to see him up his old tricks, when he has been slated so heavily before for this stuff.

Wonder if the club is willing to give me a new shirt since I got one with OUMA 16 on the back...
Maybe but not sure you will get the money back from the tattooist.

Not to mention an arse without UMA on one arse cheek.
