Can't lay too much on Doherty being the saviour we don't have. I like him, never hid, always worked his cods off and led by example never pulled out of anything. Granted his second touch was often a tackle however is more of a player than Ouma

Exactly. It’s called the Charlton life affect,….. player isn’t good enough and needs to leave, he leaves and is remembered as Ronaldowmcf123 said:

weve signed the best player in the world, two months later - our recruitment is worse than oxfords!6 -
lol, our top goalscorer last season was a flop? Have a word.Southbank said:

And knibbs was a great save away from scoring yesterday. Only really leaves Olafe and apter as flops (mostly likely due to attitude of both).crookester said:
Potts, Campbell, Lua Lua and Hernandez were all short term punts and were suitably released at the earliest opportunity. Ouma was also a punt, hence why he was signed on loan with an option to buy. So that leaves Apter, Knibbs and Olaofe.AberystwythAddick said:

The amount we've had in for polishing over the past 4 seasons makes the mind boggle! We don’t recruit well, for whatever reasons we fail to attract the right players to the club

Harvey Knibbs
Timothy Ouma
Dan Potts

None of them can. I would say that is a definition of a flop.14 -

Surely it’s relevant as a journalist is asking the question?Croydon said:Looks like that rumour might be true after all
When something is obviously wrong at the club with owners/managers/players/ceo he will criticize those who point out what we are seeing wrong with the owners/managers/players/ceo, tell us how we all need to back the people involved and the club, and all those who are criticizing are all in the wrong
More often than not the original observation will prove to be correct and over the following months/years he will post about them as if they were wrong uns all along.
On this occasion he has managed to follow this usual pattern which can sometimes take years to occur, to having one opinion in the morning of the game to having a complete turnaround in the evening of the game.
In the morning I said I wouldn't believe a spurious rumour on twitter because we've seen it MANY times that someone posts a load of shit on socials and others start to spread it as thought it's true - only for it to turn out to be some attention seeker saying it for "clout"
The fact Ouma wasn't in the squad was quite telling and the press conference failure to answer the question pretty much confirmed it. At no point did I "go in" on @DennisBooth, i merely said I would not trust a twitter rumour just yet.
I don't "criticise those who are in the wrong" but I will say, they frequently are and don't know the full facts, None of us do.
I do apologise for not just joining in blindly with the pile on's of the club of recent years - but I'm not a fucking sheep and have my own opinions which are either observations or, occasionally, because I know stuff but can't say how I know.

He was good enough to play most of games last season though? And now we are playing someone who got relegated last season?wmcf123 said:

All that said I dont think Jones is to blame for getting rid of players he doesnt want, if anything thats a ruthless streak which, whilst ugly to watch, is needed. However is he to blame for not getting netter through the door? Yes.4 -

As a guess I reckon we thought we did have a considerably better player lined up to replace Doc, hence letting him go, then we cocked it up and took a punt on Ouma. The best scenario for Doc would have been a squad player which I doubt was an option in Docs eyes. Loved his effort but he clearly needed upgrading. Think the recruitment was generally a shitshow in midfield particularly.wmcf123 said:

I think you're right and i think we'd seen enough of Ouma to know he wasn't to be trusted by the end of the window (on the pitch) and when the Rak Saki thing went wobbly, we switched to Skipp. All in all, we probably anticipated having Holgrove or similar and Rak Saki in the squad, instead we've got Ouma and Skipp. We've done very well with Koumetio but the right winger and centre mid were the big one's needed to 'transform' us. That's life but what could have been... I'm sure NJ is as gutted as anybody so we just need to get on with it now.Sword65pf said:

Yes no choice but to dig in, the only thing I disagree with, I may be wrong but think Skipp was an emergency acquisition when Chalobah’s injury was seen to be longer term.DOUCHER said:

Ouma who goes on holiday more times than Alan Whicker and Chalobah who whilst playing is decent was brought in knowing there was a big risk given his recent injury record.0

Bindon could probably play there.cantersaddick said:Very quickly at a place where if Alan Mwamba doesn't develop quickly we are pretty stuck. Gotta hope Chalobah is back soon.
Cov and Skipp doesn't work as a pairing but right now it's all we've got. And I'm worried that we will run them into the ground and ine will pick up an injury then we really are screwed.
Has Kayne Ramsay ever played CM?2 -
Seriously doubt it, never seen clubs terminate loans outside a window (except at non-league with different rules) otherwise you would see it all the time with player injuries or they’re just crap etc.ElfsborgAddick said:AberystwythAddick said:

If anything I’m grateful because we’ve managed to avoid paying a fee and aren’t stuck with him for years0 -

The proof is that's just now how loans and transfer windows work. You can't terminate them outside of a transfer window. Notice how we kept CG until the window opened back in the day.ElfsborgAddick said:Crispywood said:

We probably could say we don't want him training with us and send him back to us parent club, but then he wouldn't be playing for anyone until January.3 -
Bet he’s popular at Sparrows Lane with the rest of the team… not, needs getting shot of asap…🙏3

How disappointing, was genuinely super excited for young Timothy and thought from clips he seemed to be the spark and energy missing from our midfield but he's been crap and it truly is shocking to see him up his old tricks, when he has been slated so heavily before for this stuff.6
