I truly hope we stay in the third division if even one in ten Charlton fans are as pitifully misogynistic and backward thinking ...
The main reason I have been praying for a takeover - be it Middle Eastern, African, Russian, Brummie or whatever - is to get shot of the Judas board that sold the women down the river.
Surely true equality means men and woman supporting themselves and not being reliant on the other to "keep" them.
So letting the Women's team stand on its own two feet rather than taking a £300k pa hand out from the oppressive men's team was really a progressive act.
Now the women's team can survive on its own merits and spend all the money it generates on itself.
They can even make their own decisions about entering tournaments like the Summer League rather than having to beg the FC board for permission.
What Floyd&Harvey suggests is totally sexist and he clearly wants to keep the women's team down in a submissive situation where they are reliant on men for money and permission to act. In fact he is the worst kind of hypocrite.
Given that the women's team is run entirely buy the trust, it's not a decision for the football club board what competitions it enters, what costs it incurs or even what colour shirts it wears.

this thread is hilarious...women's football is in general fairly funny to watch (especially the keepers), wouldn't ever pay to watch a game, but each to their own.
any decent mens sunday side would in my opinion beat any womens team
I've got a lot of sympathy for the views of collegepark who clearly watches and understands the game a bit better than many who are taking the piss on here. The bottom line though IS the bottom line. And I'm not interested in watching womens football, in any way. I suspect many others who are saying that this is a terrible thing also don't do anything to contribute to the team or demonstrate to the Trust that it's something that people want, so don't really have the right to moan about what's happening.

True, but that situation wouldn't have come to pass hadn't the club so quickly dropped the women's team like some kind of diseased hotel potato, just because the men's term were a bunch of relegated couldn't-care journeymen. So the women's set-up lost 150k or whatever a year, that's absolute peanuts compared to the money the men's team lost or that we even lost on individuals (we'd be able to run the women's team for five years with the transfer fee hit we're gonna take when we finally sell McLeod, for instance).
I actually find it quite telling that it's the community scheme upon which the women were foisted, as if being female was some sort of disability or disadvantage that needs the help of kindly philanthropists. As i said, pathetic.
I intended to spend some time replying but what's the point
You are so blinkered in your attitude it is a complete waste of time. I assume there is also a personal grievance here, so you have decided that no matter what is said, you are right.
Backward thinking ... take a look at yourself mate.
Mens football had to start from the ground up a century ago, why should womens football be any different. If the sport and excitement is as great as is made out then I’m sure they’ll have no problem acquiring their own support and building a profitable enterprise without hanging onto the coat tails of existing mens team’s.
I wont be watching (apart from perhaps the Swedish national team), but good luck to them.

Like it or not, women's football at Charllton has ALWAYS been run by the community scheme at all levels up to the senior team(s), even prior to the Croydon takeover. The football club NEVER operated the development structure and all the present arrangements have done is put the first team and the development structure together for the first time, which seems logical enough to me.

Does that mean you agree with the above Robbo?

Sisters are doing it for themselves. ; - )
Ditch the womens team or enter administration and possibly end the club what would you choose?
Could we ditch administration and "enter" the womens team?!!
This will be the 'mens team' that is currently £35m in debt !!
So what do you say to that F&H?
LOL but not in debt to the Women's team.

**ducks for cover**
Do me a favour.

Exactly, that's where they should be (the kitchen one)
Womens football it Sh*te, why should we go deeper in debt to fund something that doesn't generate any money back to the club.
Why don't you start a site for the ladies for you and the other 49 ?
