Branson has been involved with Palace in the past - and anyway, they're "his" team.

    Possibly their most famous supporter.
    And perhaps their wealthiest.

Fun and games on the Palace BBS (tacky to look at but a good message board- shame they are so many palace fans on it ; - )

Seems the "Warnock to QPR" rumour starter has been outed as an insolvency practitioner (hence knowing about Palace going into Admin early). He is getting dogs abuse while his real name and Company (of which he is MD) is being constantly repeated to the extent that their versions of AFKA/Lookie have pulled the thread completely.

This is despite the rumour not having been proved true or false even if Warnock did turn up for the usual pre-game press conference.

Since then their version of AFKA has posted the following.

"OK - I have just had a very long telephone conversation with the individual who started the thread.

May I start by reminding everyone that under no circumstances is it acceptable to post defamatory comments about anyone (or any organisation) on the BBS. That potentially exposes you and the BBS to a claim for damages. As things stand, none of us know whether his information is correct - so it is wrong on every level to accuse him of lying.

Please take this warning seriously - you will face being banned if you make defamatory comments of this nature.

Having spoken to him, I believe that his sources are good and that he has reasonable grounds for posting what he did. Of course nothing may come of it (and I personally hope that Warnock has more sense than to consider a move to QPR), but I suspect that over the next few days we may discover that there is some substance in the story.

I have added his surname to the BBS swear filter and I would ask people not to try and circumvent this. Obviously he knows that the horse has already bolted, but there is no need to keep chasing the horse round the paddock.

    Thanks."

'Swear word filter'? If the Millwall BBS had one of those there would hardly be any posts on it.
  • censored
  • [cite]Posted By: floydandharvey[/cite]There's a swearword filter on here too, SE8.

Try typing [CENSORED] and see what happens.
    Nothing happened

[cite]Posted By: floydandharvey[/cite]Did you type [CENSORED] Dan? That or [CENSORED]ing it doesn't display when you type them, but puts censored in square brackets instead. It also happens with [CENSORED], but those are the only ones I've found so far.
    [CENSORED] or [CENSORED]ing.

No still doesnt work for me...

He's been linked with every club under the sun without a manager this season. He may well be putting on a brave face, but I think a small part of him is enjoying this challenge because he has a very loyal playing squad in it with him.

He will be thinking about getting a juicy 2/3 year contract with QPR instead of the current one with Palace which runs out in the summer. Given that QPR change their manager every six months, he could be looking at having his contract paid up by Christmas time. So, its a win win situation.

I thought that Uncle Colin wanted to retire in the summer, when his Palarse contract ran out.....?

Thats the way I understood it too, so I would be very surprised if he took on another project, and I feel that the QPR one would be too much for him.

I don't think he could work with Briatore, as he likes to have control, and I can't honestly see how any manager with a decent reputation, would want to go to QPR, as they surely can see that no one is given long enough to build there team.

QPR may have rich benefactors, but even as a Palace fan I can honestly say I have symapthy with there fans, as QPR have become a laughing stock. (Mind you I'll take some of the millions they thought they were getting)

Yeah, so? You don't think QPR will sack him by the end of the season when they don't qualify for Europe?

I get you ......one last signing on fee, decent salary for 3 months - and free as a bird in the summer, with a nice thank you very much lump sum payment compensation.

Who needs a Euro Lottery win?
    Maybe not Uncle Colin.

Only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone now.

Lost 1 - 3 to Reading in front of 13,259 (more like 10,000 actual?) last night

So they get a close to full house for a glory tie against Villa but over 10k less for a crunch, but less attractive game, against their relegation rivals?

Imagine how sad you must need to be to be a plastic Palace supporter ;)

Paul, I was looking at the 'Holmesdale' blog the other day and your lot were creaming themselves re the two benefactors who might buy into palace, with Uncle Ron of course. At the time I thought, "don't count your chickens" cos we have been there with the arabs Zebreel non buy out and it all fizzled out into nothing.
Obviously Ron would love to get his ground back and at a discount. But the actual buyers then have to fork out an awful lot of money to run palace and then almost certaintly lose in the region of 5 million each year. It's a big ask.
Still, if worse comes to worse there is the AFC Wimbledon route, where at least the club is back in the fans hands where it started all those years ago.
Who knows, we may even have to take the long route back ourselves.
