England women
I know they say that there are no easy matches in international football now, but that's certainly not the case in women's football England just beat North Macedonia 8-0 in a ridiculously one sided match, which should have been 18. England had 48 shots and 81% possession

England Cricket 2026
With the Ashes now a distant memory (we wish), it is time to look forward. So, what do we have coming up for England? Well, the real highlights are likely to be the two T20 World Cups – the men have theirs in we taking place in February/March in India and Sri Lanka and the Women’s competition is on home soil during…

Savings and Investments thread
I hope that like many other fine threads on CL this one will be a place where Lifers can share both knowledge and experience to help others. It isn't for "rich" Lifers. It's the way of the modern world that all of us have to try and save for old age. And it is not the place for politics, even though politics affects our…

Managerial sackings, comings and goings
The October international break is clearly a chance to wield the axe First Di Matteo gets the push from Villa, and now Guidolin has been replaced at Swansea by Bob Bradley To me it all seems terribly early in the season to make changes...For reference, we sacked Dowie on the 13th November…

The Space Thread
Wondered if we had any keen stargazers or any with interests in all things space on here. Might be an age thing but in the last couple of years it has become a real new interest of mine. A bit niche for a football forum I know but thought there might be one or two on here with an interest! Wondered if people had been…

Songs A-Z with live video (New rules from page 114)
I saw this idea elsewhere and thought some would like to try it for fun. The rules are you post a song starting with the next letter alphabetically than the one before, but including a live video. You shouldn't jump back a letter if someone gets in quickly. Once B follows A you shouldn't then post an A song until we go…

General Things that Amuse You
Gotta be done When people chat on the phone.. One person whispers because they dont want someone near them to hear so the person on the other end of the phone whispers too My wife has just done it and left me chuckling; Why do it, people in the background wont be able to hear you anyway unless the volume is turned right up

Summer 2026 (Non- Charlton) Championship Transfers
As with the past 2 summers, I will update this thread with a list of all incomings for teams in our division. First though we will likely see outgoings with the retained lists that will be announced by most non-playoff sides this week. However Norwich jumped the gun and actually announced theirs last week, so will start…

Energy Bills
I know that the price cap is being removed and prices are expected to go up but ours is going up by around 60% (£600) a year and there aren't really any better deals out there (I don't think the price changes have even been factored into this - this seems like a ridiculously large rise. We do regular meter readings at the…

World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico
Venues to be announced by FIFA in a ceremony later today. 23 stadiums will be reduced to around 14-16 across the three countries. I would expect four or five stadiums from Canada and Mexico and nine, ten, eleven or twelve from the States. Some local governments are scrambling over each other to offer FIFA the biggest tax…

Favourite period supporting England
So with the World Cup fast approaching, what era do you remember most fondly supporting The Three Lions? (Or Ireland, Scotland, Wales etc) In 1986 I was eleven and from that tournament to the end of Italia 90, were my halcyon days of international football. The realism of our place in the grand scheme of things hadn't hit…

Silly arguments
What's the most ridiculous argument you've had with a partner or relative? Years ago I was queuing outside a restaurant in Hong Kong with my girlfriend at the time when she pointed at a bird in a nearby tree. "What bird is that?" she said. "I don't know," I said. "No, really. What type of bird is it?" "No idea…" I…

The £5 pint
It's here. Had my first £5 pint in a "normal" pub last night, i.e. not a bar/club, etc - just a run of the mill boozer. £5.17 for a pint of fairly tasteless italian fizzy water (aka Peroni). I promised myself I would give up pub bozzing as soon as this day came. A sad sad day for all concerned.
