Amazing result, they are heroes. But something about Kelman bugs me, and it's not the sitter he missed, I can't put my finger on it, he just always moves like it is a pre-season friendly, such little aggression and intensity, a running style reminiscent of Macualey Bonne.

Missing the sitter is the thing that worries me the most. Not a fan of what Kelman brings off the ball the one thing I thought he could do was put the ball in the back of the net.
That wasn’t a sitter and it was an excellent save from their keeper. That aside he worked hard defensively and drew a number of defensive fouls to take the pressure off.
It’s more worrying that his critics fail to see this.

It was a decent chance and I’m sure he’s gutted he didn't tuck it away, should he score - possibly, but I bet he’s his own harshest critic.

he hit the target and it was a decent chance save.

He’ll have learnt a lot this season, still very young and raw but there’s definitely a player in there and he’s a goalscorer - which we all know are as rare as rocking horse shit

He’s had 22 shots so far this season - only two of them have been classified as missing the target (10 saved, 5 blocked, 5 goals).

Of the 19 shots taken on his right foot this season, his first off target effort came in the 87th minute earlier today (the other miss was off his left foot against Sheff Utd in September).

He has accumulated 5 goals from 2.97 xG and scored 4 goals from 2.18 non-penalty xG.

There’s no doubt he knows how to find the net given an opportunity.
Two left footed shots and one right footed shot last night. One on target (saved) and two blocked.

Target missed twice in 25 attempts.

Blah blah blah, let's see you lot do better.

All our strikers have missed "absolute sitters" at some point this season, at least he's getting into that area, and Sol Brynn is a top Championship keeper who's kept 11 clean sheets this season for Boro, and only conceded 36 goals in 37 games in the championship, he's no mug

Screenshot is the moment Kelman’s shot is saved. Blue circle is where Kelman’s shot goes and the red area is the entire part of the goal Brynn isn’t covering. He does well to make up the ground but anyone who says Kelman shouldn’t be scoring that is lying to themselves. Screenshot doesn’t even do it justice because Kelman also has so much time to open up his body or take it on a right. I expect my 3M forward who’s only thing he’s shown he can do this season is finish to be putting that away.

Level of protection he gets is crazy, if that’s any other attacking player they’re hung out to dry
Imagine the reaction if TC had missed it. Would suspect his thread would look very different to this one

That image means absolutely nothing looking at it from that angle.
Yep this angle makes it look like a much tougher angle. You can't see really how far across the keeper is from either. He'll be kicking himself as it probably should have been a goal, but a sitter? Na.
Glad someone found that angle, not as easy as some make out

TC would have still be jogging over the halfway lane

EVERY striker misses good chances. Even your Kanes and Haalands. It goes with the territory, like goalies making occasional mistakes that cost goals.

He certainly did not make the most of the opportunity, but it also wasn't inexcusable miss.

If he gets a chance like that again tomorrow, I would back him to score.

The key for him and the rest of the team is to figure out how we get him decent sights on goal more frequently. Even the very very top strikers need an average of about 3 or 4 chances per goal scored and Kelman is getting nowhere near that many chances per game. His goals vs Swansea, Oxford, and Birmingham all demonstrate he doesn't need Grade A chances in order to covert so if we build patterns of play that get him touches inside the box, we'll soon see his goals return start to climb. Some of that is on him as well, he needs to figure out his movement to suit our play too, but to me all the signs are there that we are getting there.

TC would have probably fallen over before he got to the halfway line!!

Put his pen away well. That’s 6 league goals now. Leaburn and TC have that between them and both with more minutes on the pitch.

Has given us 4 points against Oxford this season.
    3 against Birmingham.
    1 against Blackburn
    1 against Swansea.

He was the only player to score in all of those above games.

Will be hoping for more next season, but those 9 points alone pay back a good portion of the fee we paid.

Good finisher, needs to up his work rate a bit but a better option as the small striker than TC atm.

Got a feeling he'll finish as our top scorer

Considering he didn’t have a proper pre season, considering he had a lengthy lay off, I think he’s done well. With a proper pre season and the experience of this season under his belt I think he’ll fly next season.

With a view to next season, given we only need another two or three points to be safe and the poor form of TC, I would like to see NJ now use the final eight games to integrate Kelman as a first choice selection. Think it would do him the world of good and might enable NJ to use the matches to think how we might be a bit more pro-active going forward.

    100pc this.

Kelman up top with either Leaburn or Dykes alongside him is the way to go.

if he gets 10 goals come the end of the season - as far as I am concerned (never mind the time out injured) he has proven he can score in the championship.
