Good passer and crosser.competant defensively but very reluctant to run with the ball even if there is space in front of him
That’s probably more because of instruction than having the ability to do it!

Suddenly I feel a cross in from the left might well

    a) be hit at the right time
    b) be hit in the right way
    c) produce shit loads of uncertainty in the defence
    d) create tangible chances

on top of that he reads the game well , times tackles , and gives his all .

    He will only get better

This has aged well, take it the video is dead on a hard drive in Prague

  • Really hope the lad enjoys his time with us and we can persuade Liverpool to loan him to us for next season. I doubt he’s ready for their Premiership squad just yet and I’d imagine a Championship loan would be his and Liverpools best option for him.

Absolutely loved the detail that he drives Coady in to training

Good interview with him on Cawley’s Substack.

Mentions he’s out of contract in June but Liverpool have an optional year.
Says NJ wanted him in on 1 Jan but Liverpool wouldn't allow it as wanted to confirm his fitness.

Clearly a lie as the experts on here said our recruitment team did no preperation or forward planning for January.

Seemed to get a lot of negativity on here when we first signed him, but I think he’s done really well for us, from what I’ve seen so far.
I think (certainly from my point of view) the negativity was bringing a youngster who hadn't played a competitive game since March 2025 into a relegation fight rather than his ability. I'd wager most of us hadn't even knowingly seen him play to know much about him. I know he played against us for Wigan but can anybody honestly say that they remember him & how he played ?
    Agree he's done well.

Still not giving up hope we can land him permanently in the summer

I guess one of the big advantages of us staying in the Championship is that PL teams are more likely to loan us their real talent than if we were in the graveyard of League 1.

Supposing we do stay up - and I'm reasonably confident - what happens if Edwards makes a full recovery from his injury.? Would we still want him? Would he still want to come if not assured  a first team spot?

Think there are two things we need to take into account. 1) Edwards seems unlikely to be fit for a full season, they were unlucky injuries but they will cause issues. 2) Bell is the same, Edwards might be useful to cover that LCB position

No offence to the lad, but he's nowhere near the ability that Liverpool would need as one of their wing backs, this summer or in a thousand summers.

His ceiling is limited by his lack of pace and physicality. He's technically strong and a good crosser, but even his defensive work has not been fully tested for us yet (I'll give him a pass on his debut for us as it was his first game for ages).

Edwards is a better defender in my opinion, and Chambers is a better ball player. Once Edwards is back its a toss up between the 2, but I think Jones will naturally favour the more robust defender.

And this assessment is based on what ? Four games is it for a lad coming back from a longish lay off and obviously has such a low ceiling that Liverpool are happy to have him on their books. Could you give us more of these stunning insights please.

Calm down dear. Assessment on physical attributes can be made pretty quickly, and at the top level a wing back needs them. I clearly stayed his technical ability is good and his defensive ability needs more time to evaluate, giving him a free pass for being made to look dodgy by Azeez in his debut.

I hope your angry post made you feel better though x

The internet where having a difference of opinion on a players ability is akin to murdering someone’s granny.

We’ve seen with Bell and Macca the massive fall off capable if you don’t have quality in depth. Good thing if we did go for Chambers and Edwards sorts that position and are quite different in terms of skillsets which allows you to adjust based on what the game requires.
  • You move one of them into the LCB and rotate with Bell, covers two positions with injuries. We should probably go and try and sign him in the summer. Liverpool will put his year extension on and it’ll cost us. But it’s worth it for a player that now plays NJ Ball

I’ve happily mea culpa-ed my remarks there at least 3 times including a couple
of posts down from that one…

Not that I feel the need to defend it further but the reason most people doubted Rodwell’s claim was not his ability but his availability to come in and play 90mins in a position where we were desperately short - and we had no info at the time re how long Bell was out for

I think he has already proved worth waiting a couple of extra games for, rather than filling the hole with a body that was available sooner.

    Trust NJ.

We already had a couple of those. Never played, got them half fit and then they left

He’s made a world of difference but it’s no coincidence that Bell is back too.

When you compare the two of them to Gillesphey and Campbell, it’s simply the reason we’ve got 7 points and 3 clean sheets in the last 3 games compared to 0 points and 0 clean sheets.

I think Campbell might have had some input into getting us 3 points against Stoke.

Agreed and kind of proving my point. He played upfront not LWB so could do the job of winning us the game. 👍

Trent AA’s brother is his agent. Maybe we can get both?
Is Trent's Brother any good then?
And what UK river is he named after?

    Tyne Alexander-Arnold?
    Thames Alexander-Arnold?
    Mersey Alexander-Arnold?
