Someone said it on another thread but if he really was our first choice then we need a new recruitment team.
Was he really that bad? Others have said we lost our shape second half after he went off.
I thought he looked good - good touch under pressure and pacey - we need to play him and Clarke as full backs now, drop Gillesphey out and get apter back in or rak saki in other side to TC - we cannot pull the defensive handbrake up any further - it’s killed us and we now have 2 full backs playing wing back - NJ needs a re think on this and quick
Chambers looked good but I’m not sure he looks like a left back in a back 4 for the championship. Chambers isn’t a full back playing wing back, he’s even played on the wing before but he’s definitely a wing back or attacking full back and will offer us something going forward from that side

If you play Chambers left back and Lloyd Jones LCB (our best current option) then I really don’t think that works as you end up dragging Lloyd wide left when we need him to dominate from the middle.

Some seem obsessed with a back 4 but it doesn’t work with our current options. We would need to sign a new left sided centre back and a new left back (or Bell stays fit by some miracle)
  • Yeah he looked good, was up against a winger who’ll be in the prem next season regardless of what happens to Millwall, we looked actually balanced with him on the left and TC providing a threat up front. Also liked the way he tried to go for the overlap a few times but wasn’t picked up on it. Some good signs. Just need bell to get fit again.

He had a few nice touches with the ball, made some progressive passes and showed effort against one of the most in form wingers in the league. I saw enough to be encouraged and much preferred the balance of the team having a natural left footer in that position.

There were a few moments of confusion between him, Macca and Karoy over who was marking who and who should take authority over loose balls. I think that is to be expected given the lack of training time together and will just require him learning the tactics and formation.

He allowed Azeez too much space for the cross on the first goal but perhaps that was to be expected seven minutes into his first ever championship game - especially so given the amount of time off he's had.

His defending for the move that starts at 1:30 (link) was naive. He has to go to the ball and clear it. Almost cost us a goal, not that it would have mattered on the day.

Wycombe fans did say defending isn't his strong point. If we've put an attack-minded LWB in, to play next to Gillesphey, I'm not sure how much that is going to help us. I'm not going to judge him after 45 minutes and hopefully that is just him being rusty.
  • He stood out like a sore thumb in our team , someone who would look to move the ball forward and had been introduced to a football in his previous life as something to not be completely afraid of and to not treat it like a hot potato /the plague .
I like the look of him , if he can get up to speed quickly will be decent but there’s no guarantee of that and it’s the here and now that matters.
    I like him
Don't worry. Give it a couple of weeks and Jones will soon coach that out of him and have him lumping balls up field to no-one in particular.

Away to Millwall is a tough debut for anyone, let alone, someone fairly inexperienced, and now playing in a team who all forgot how to play football.

Liked what I saw in 45 minutes, with obvious room for improvement. If we can get his fitness up to a decent level for remainder of season, I'm sure he will be a good player to help keep us up.

Looked decent (wouldn’t go over the top). I’m sure he’ll be Charltonised soon enough.
  • The kid got dropped in to a game away at Millwall for his first minutes at this level, having recoverd from a long term injury.

Some people saying he's not good enough based on that need to just take a break for a bit I think. I get poeple are pissed off at the moment, but declaring he's a poor loan after 45 minutes at the Den just makes you look a bit stupid.

It may turn out he's not good enough, but no one knows that after that game

Is there a reason Chambers couldn’t have been signed on 1st January?

I'll stand corrected on this, but I believe Liverpool wanted to make sure he was fully recovered rom his injury before letting him go

Luke Chambers is in the Sky Sports studio as a guest pundit. Appreciate that they say that the TV can add a few years and pounds but it seems to have put on decades and stones.

That's what Rodwell said , probably played him in a couple of Behind Closed Doors games to make sure everything was okay.

He looked like a lad groomed for the premier league used to playing with similar boys.

sorry this is men’s football. He was totally out of his depth.

    Desperate signing

That's rubbish. He did not look out of his depth in the mere 45 minutes he was in the pitch. Our entire team had an off day!

The other Ten also looked out of their depth in that case.

Phew, I thought it was just me.
I couldn't believe it when I saw the majority slagging him off.
He clearly looked our most cultured player.

    Ridiculous comment.
  • If this guy can keep fit, he is going to be a fantastic left-back for us. Looked a level above the few times I saw him last season (although ironically his lowest rated performance was against us at The Valley!)
Hate to say I told you so… (so far!)

Very decent going forward, excellent cross to Dykes, yet to be really tested defensively though.

Fatawu’s had one moment and that was when he was up against Bell. Think he was solid

Anyone still wishing we signed a L1 journeyman instead?
