Jones confirms post match that his minutes are being managed as he gets up to speed.
He be match fit by the end of Feb then when we are in the bottom 3.
  • I would say he was our best player in the first half, he was playing the ball to TC well.
  • Not his fault l, but bringing a player that can’t play a whole match yet is fucking insane.

At least every half of the next few games we will be unbalanced and vulnerable.

    Transfer reeks of desperation.

What LWB wouldn’t reek of desperation? Where you hoping for a Championship regular starter?

Someone who can play play 90 mins. That is not a huge ask

I thought he did okay for someone out for so long and thrown into that game. Think he’d look good playing with Bell.

I’m sure we could bring in a L1 journeyman who can play 90 minutes, but we need quality as well as fitness.

Poor debut - looked well out of his depth.

    Not what we need

I thought he was ok, but you can’t deny it’s dreadful recruitment. We have needed a lwb for 4 months - 3 weeks into the window we get a kid who has never played at this level & is only capable of playing 45 minutes because he hasn’t played a competitive football match in 10 months.

Matt Penney could play 90 minutes. So, presumably, could Juan Castillo and Nile John. They weren't any good though so it wasn't much good having them. Chambers might take a few games to get up to fitness but he's highly rated and looks like a good player. If he's as good a player as we've heard then it will be worth it to have him as he gets up to speed, lots of football left to play. Not a lot of other LWBs out there at the moment

He was good on the ball, made some good forward passes. Defensively struggled a bit but so did all of them. Think he will be a decent signing but hoping we can bring in a more defensively solid option there too

I thought he was our only positive from today, for what that's worth
  • Only positive from today’s game personally looked much more comfortable there than what we’ve seen the in the last few months.
  • Only concern is if he gets injured we are back to being buggered.

Dreadful game from him - was done massively for the fluffed shot
  • Crazy to think that our wingbacks are the most important part of this Jones formation so we should have targeted a top Lwb that has been playing at there club all season and is fit and ready to go and pay the going rate whatever that is

instead we have done it on the cheap and someone unproven

if we go down the ownership/recruitment team have alot to answer for

I thought he played well considering it was his first game for nearly a year, was up against one of the better league wingers and had thousands of baying Millwall fans at little more than 5 yards away.

Thought he looked decent, a little rusty as you'd expect but played with confidence and got forward a bit.

Baffling substitution from Jones to take him off at HT and replace him with Fullah tbh, we've been crying out for a left back and looked a bit more balanced in that first half-term, but we changed it and promptly capitulated
He hasn't been playing much. It wouldn't surprise me if it had been part of the agreement with Liverpool just to start off with half a game.

I think that’s definitely possible. Seems they’ve been quite protective of him in delaying us getting him so he could build up some fitness in their 21s

I’m excited to see more of him as he was pretty decent considering it’s his first proper game in ages and he would have barely trained with his teammates

Getting someone who is proven at this level, is match fit and available is nigh on impossible in this window

You would be cheaper to feed Callum and not eat all the half time oranges.

I actually thought he looked ok - though not sure if that’s just the novelty of seeing an actual left back - at left back.

He stood out like a sore thumb in our team , someone who would look to move the ball forward and had been introduced to a football in his previous life as something to not be completely afraid of and to not treat it like a hot potato /the plague .
I like the look of him , if he can get up to speed quickly will be decent but there’s no guarantee of that and it’s the here and now that matters.
    I like him
  • Would love to know how he can play 45 minutes after almost a year out and 100 minutes of U21 football, but Roussillon isn't fit after being here for two months.

Thought he looked fine on a debut of fire. I agree we really needed a Championship level LWB who was fully up to speed - anyone got a list of those who are for sale?

At least he was always showing for the ball even if the rest of the defence seemed reluctant to give it to him, I thought he was fine considering the man he was up against, and the few hundred on day release giving him grief all game
It’s a miles better option than playing TC or Gillesphey  there but not as good as Edwards or Bell
Thats about his level and he shouldn’t be written off after 45 minutes of football

Someone said it on another thread but if he really was our first choice then we need a new recruitment team.
Was he really that bad? Others have said we lost our shape second half after he went off.
I thought he looked good - good touch under pressure and pacey - we need to play him and Clarke as full backs now, drop Gillesphey out and get apter back in or rak saki in other side to TC - we cannot pull the defensive handbrake up any further - it’s killed us and we now have 2 full backs playing wing back - NJ needs a re think on this and quick
