A failed medical makes me feel more comfortable about us pulling out
I'd feel even more comfortable if we were working to sign an alternative though!
Yes there are a couple we want. Both at Premier League clubs and both played in the Championship last season. One more likely than another at this stage. Cannot give any names at this stage
Ogbene better not be one of them..

Think we need a left footed winger, the ability to cut in as well as go on the outside is far more dangerous

I really hope that Sakamoto is one of them. Hes a fantastic player which is probably why we won’t sign him 😂

Ogbene feels fairly obvious to be one of them but I'd be massively underwhelmed.

Other one I'm massively struggling with who it could be , I thought Esse was going to Belgium for example.

One way or another, JRS will move this window otherwise he’s stuck in their U21s until at least January. Hoping somehow we can still sort something out because attack wise he seems the missing piece of the jigsaw.

Fully anticipate a very busy handful of days. Let’s hope that it ends in a positive way.

Really hope Ogbene isn’t one we’re after but wouldn’t surprise me.

A good player obviously, but spent last season on loan at Sheffield United only managing some minutes here and there with the majority of his time spent on the sidelines with injury. Surely we don’t go down that bloody route again we’ve everything that’s been happening with us.
If JRS actually was pulled for medical reasons and then we sign someone who had injuries literally last season it would be both incredibly stupid and extremely Charlton.
Having an injury last season and "something coming up in a medical" are two completely different things though

For all we know it could be something health related like a heart defect or an immunodeficiency

Wonder if we might see Curtis Fleming doing the Preston pre game press conference?

Not sure I believe this failed medical at all. Feels like it's a way for the club to back out of the deal or try to get Palace to lower the price.
Who knows, but wouldn't be the first time a club used that excuse to paper over something else.

Burke was a free transfer, JRS could have been our most expensive signing of all time pretty self explanatory
    Burke was undisclosed fee!
Doesn’t mean you’ve paid a fee that means they just haven’t revealed if they have. Luton would have just been delighted to get an injury prone CB on big wages off their books

It would be a weird lie though, as the player can in time tell the truth about it. Unlikely either side would lie about a failed medical

If we get the right-winger in in loan then does that mean we have £4 Million for a CAM?

JRS holds all the cards here. If he's dead set on joining us then an offer from Burnley is unlikely to be appealing, even with more money offered. That's what I'm clinging to anyway 🤞
    Unless we’ve pulled out.
Hopefully our pull out game is weak

just logged on to almost 700 posts.  i'm guessing there is a desperate shortage of good news today.

Jut when we started to look like we were coming "back" something goes pear shaped.  Why is it so hard being a Charlton fan

From the same people who brought you "it's 100% done" and "his agent wants him to go to Burnley", comes "he failed a medical".

    When will you lot learn.

  • Erin Cashin looks like he’ll be made available to loan before the window closes by Brighton.

I’d personally be all over that.

Why would we do all the media stuff with him if he had failed the medical?

I don’t know how these things work but I wouldn’t be surprised if the media stuff gets done while waiting for results from tests, it’s an efficient use of time

Is it? Filming, cutting and editing a load of footage at the ground that might not be used? Not sure it is

Right up there with the most typically Charlton few days in history.

Backs to the wall fantastic win away at West Ham, TC signs up for 4 years and Rak Sakyi moves from a ‘possible’ to a ‘he’s at the training ground’.

We then lose 3 CBs in effectively one day, lose 5-1 at Spurs and pull the plug on JRS.

    What a club
We would make a much more exciting Amazon documentary than that mob over in Wales.

Has Cawley made any comment on the JRS situation? If it was dead in the water how likely is it that he'd be able to confirm it?

Mesik can play CB and LB as can Bell. Feel Asiimwe will stay now as a result as a LB.

Regardless of if we have to pay Collins if he has an ACL is irrelevant. Open the position to a player who can play and be done with it.

We can still sign JRS but overall, this is the hand we have been dealt so get on with it everyone and stop whining.
    and if we cancel JRS?
    Then we can cancel him.

For what it's worth, Apter didn't cover himself in glory so if Apter can go, we can sign JRS. It's like for like in that case.
I thought Apter was absolutely pathetic last night, so lightweight, he looked like a fish out of water!  I like Knibbs but felt the same about him tbh.......they certainly can't go knocking on the managers door after those performances, and yes I know they were playing a premiership team but even so.....

But the vast majority of medicals aren’t failed so if you don’t use that time there’s a few hours delay. I’d be surprised if it was fully edited anyway, I’m just talking about taking some photos and doing a short interview
