Has Cawley made any comment on the JRS situation? If it was dead in the water how likely is it that he'd be able to confirm it?
Nope, he's tweeted about Kanu, lots of replies about the JRS situation but he's not replied to any of them

I really hope that Sakamoto is one of them. Hes a fantastic player which is probably why we won’t sign him 😂
He is the other one I thought of as well. Would be a great signing.

Erin Cashin looks like he’ll be made available to loan before the window closes by Brighton.

I’d personally be all over that.
Best defender I saw at the Vallet in ages when he last played.  Up there with Nathan Abbey.

Horrifically expensive player but would be great next to Jonesy
  • Ok the past few days have shown us a couple of things that if we changed would help everyone out.

If you’re an ITK we appreciate your info and totally understand you can’t give names of players linked, however, if you have particular info that could prevent pages upon pages of ridiculous speculation we’d really appreciate you putting it out there from the start.

Other posters are posting stuff as fact when in reality it’s their opinion. Please state this when posting.

If you post something along the lines of ‘I’ve heard’ please specify where. From Twitter, this forum, Facebook, bloke down the pub or perhaps a legitimate contact from within the club or someone closely associated with the club. Obviously you don’t need to make it totally obvious who it is as you’ll want to protect your contact.

Finally the bloke on the other forum knows no more than you or I. He spouts so much rubbish and I’m confident he has no inside contacts whatsoever. The misreading of the text last night was classic!

Chapple signed Ogbene for Luton, like he did Alli. Wouldn’t be surprised if we end up with him but there aren’t many positives other than he can play wing back as well so helps our flexibility

Really hope Ogbene isn’t one we’re after but wouldn’t surprise me.

A good player obviously, but spent last season on loan at Sheffield United only managing some minutes here and there with the majority of his time spent on the sidelines with injury. Surely we don’t go down that bloody route again we’ve everything that’s been happening with us.
Would be a terrible signing - he’s barely played since rupturing his achilles two years ago and I didn’t rate him before that.

    We've got our Charlton back!

Fucking typical, but why should we be surprised?

A failed medical makes me feel more comfortable about us pulling out
I'd feel even more comfortable if we were working to sign an alternative though!
Yes there are a couple we want. Both at Premier League clubs and both played in the Championship last season. One more likely than another at this stage. Cannot give any names at this stage
I never understand the “Can’t say names” part … what’s the point in saying anything at all then?
Because sometimes you have to protect confidentially. I will always say when and what I can.

Also considering a striker too. From nearly being done, the window just got a lot busier…
Any news on outgoings at all?

Cheers for all the information, it is appreciated.

Don’t want to post direct to Cawley’s substack - but he had a whole article based around us not being in for a striker this year recently.

Find it slightly odd that the national media picked up the JRS deal being on earlier this week, but so far nothing to the contrary now it's been pulled

In the previous 14 pages I missed, are you talking replacement options for JRS or Replacement for our LCB issue.

West Brom tickets just landed on the doormat.

    Never felt so alive.
Just need to catch the old chap in your fly zip to round off that "I support Charlton" feeling this morning...

I thought Apter worked hard and didn't hide but lacked any support.

Cause the support knew he was going to lose the ball within one second of receiving it regardless

Yes but if JRS has not worked out then its plausible the system has been rejigged or adjusted somewhat. We WEREN’T in for a striker but that does not mean we AREN'T in for a striker now.
I personally would have reservations if we really are making a swerve like that this deep in the window but in Jones we trust (except in the Carabao Cup ;))

    Totally agree.
Had a good loan spell at Blackburn last season as well. Seems very out of favour at Brighton despite the fee they paid for him. Solid championship player by all means though and think he’d be the perfect player for us given our circumstances.

From an admitedly small sample - I am not convinced Mbick is as ready as we maybe originally thought. Whether that is simply down to fitness or otherwise.

    Hi Linda
He wasn’t great. But I do think it’s a tad unfair to fully judge in that game. He had a couple of bright moments. Coming off the bench against Preston would be a far clearer assessment of him. Equally it’s no worries if he makes way for someone else.

Apter gave the ball straight to their players a couple of times in the first half under no pressure.

Well sorry to say and it’s probably due to recent events/nerves but you’re post has only managed to give me a semi today I’m afraid , not the usual full on boner, is the love affair over one would ask? Only you can sort this out St Johnshill 😂😤

Not going to judge him based on games at West Ham and Spurs away, will probably get a 15-20 min cameo at Preston which will be a much better indicator

Judge him when he’s had a few games. First start since January and first start against anyone better than league 2 opposition. If we feed the ball into his feet more then he will be fine

He's too .ightweight.  A strong fart knocks him off the ball and rather than roll his sleeves up and fight to get it back he rolls about and moans.

He started well last season until someone watched him and said "give him a whack and he'll hide after that".  Now everyone knows he has the heart of the lion from the beginning of the wizard of Oz.

He’s getting a harder time on here than Knibbs and one shot Greg, who were as bad if not worse

Cawley now confirming we have pulled the plug on JRS.  Complications with agent.  Boo.
