  • A general lack of disrespect for others.

Perhaps I'm getting old here but when I was in my late teens back in the mid90s, the groups of friends I hung out with all had respect for others.  Yeah, we'd play up at times but generally was good fun and we wouldn't take absolute liberties...or break the law.  Yep, I was boring.
Now my 17yo daughter is now at that age where's she's getting out and about, exploring London, going gigs, etc.  She goes with her friends or with her boyfriend who's she's been with for 3 years.  They are good kids but some of the stories I've heard make me shudder.  Hey boyfriend has had a knife pulled on him twice in the last year in different incidents not of his making.  14 of them went off to Reading Festival at the weekend and right at the end there was a rampage, tents got slashed/set fire to and the group had knives pulled on them.  Like seriously, WTF.  My ex-wife and two of the other Mum's had to drive to reading at 1am to bring them all home.  Its probably for the best they only told me when they'd got home.

I know we had wrong uns back in the 90s but there just seems to be so much more violence nowadays.  It is genuinely frightening.  I have to say I feel reasonably safe in London when I'm on my own but I so worry for my kids safety.

Back in the seventies I had a mate originally from up north who worked at Beak Freans

I haven't been to Reading for probably 18 years but even back then the Sunday in the camps was an awful atmosphere. Full of twats who came in looking for a fight, and some of the security guards were even more lairy than the youths.

Terrifying for kids have knives pulled on them, hope they're ok.

Terrifies me too as a parent, that and the spiking of drinks etc.

I don't know if it's rose tinted spectacles etc, plenty of us growing up were were a pain the arse and did daft stuff but it was all pretty harmless daft stuff.

Said to a mate that I grew up with the other day, the amount of other groups of teenagers we'd get into arguments with or (in my case, let's be honest) deliberately wind up for a laugh, worst I thought might happen was I'd get hit, now with the knife culture who knows?

They're all ok, thanks for asking.  They've shrugged it off with the minimum of fuss and said besides that, they had the best time and can't wait to do another festival.

Just print 'Please screw lid on before recycling'.  Or simply 'recyclable'.
Yeah this is worse for the environment - I, like a lot of other people re-use plastic bottles for water. Coke have made their bottles a lot less re-useable.

Had one of those "too good to throw" bags from costa.

In it I had vegan cheese and sausage toastie and a Vegan BBQ chicken baguette. My god they were rancid. Normal price for each would be 4 quid or so. How anyone could eat that absolute filth is beyond me.
Remember the sausages they had in a can? well think ten times worse than them then you might come close to a costa vegan sausage. the chicken baguette, fuck me, I actually think chickens would sacrifice themselves rather than have you eat that shite.

    "Hi there!

I am a professional hacker and have successfully managed to hack your operating system.
Currently I have gained full access to your account.

In addition, I was secretly monitoring all your activities and watching you for several months.
The thing is your computer was infected with harmful spyware due to the fact that you had visited a website with porn content previously.
    ╭ ᑎ ╮

Let me explain to you what that entails. Thanks to Trojan viruses, I can gain complete access to your computer or any other device that you own.
It means that I can see absolutely everything in your screen and switch on the camera as well as microphone at any point of time without your permission.
In addition, I can also access and see your confidential information as well as your emails and chat messages.

You may be wondering why your antivirus cannot detect my malicious software.
Let me break it down for you: I am using harmful software that is driver-based,
which refreshes its signatures on 4-hourly basis, hence your antivirus is unable to detect it presence.

I have made a video compilation, which shows on the left side the scenes of you happily masturbating,
while on the right side it demonstrates the video you were watching at that moment..ᵔ.ᵔ

All I need is just to share this video to all email addresses and messenger contacts of people you are in communication with on your device or PC.
Furthermore, I can also make public all your emails and chat history.

I believe you would definitely want to avoid this from happening.
Here is what you need to do - transfer the Bitcoin equivalent of $770 to my Bitcoin account
(that is rather a simple process, which you can check out online in case if you don't know how to do that).

Below is my bitcoin account information (Bitcoin wallet):
    bc1q7jtlsp6rpfrky6r4yygpmay6gcgylurxhy64er

Once the required amount is transferred to my account, I will proceed with deleting all those videos and disappear from your life once and for all.
Kindly ensure you complete the abovementioned transfer within 50 hours (2 days +).
I will receive a notification right after you open this email, hence the countdown will start.

Trust me, I am very careful, calculative and never make mistakes.
If I discover that you shared this message with others, I will straight away proceed with making your private videos public.

    Good luck!"

Happily masturbating?! Video compilation?! christ I think people would pay money not to see it. plus I don't think I've ever happily masturbated. Just something to pass the time.

    All of us ;)

Whilst you should be aware that you will have upset many on here and can expect a few responses, I have to agree.

I had tofu the other night for the first time as my wife was following a Jamie Oliver recipe. Fuck me that was awful. My kids are a bit more "aware" than I am in terms of meat but even they were appalled.

I was in the states recently and at a Starbucks drive through for breakfast. I ordered the "Impossible Breakfast Sandwich" because I thought it was named on the basis of it being impossibly good or impossibly big (or a combination of the two). Unfortunately I think it referred to the fact that it would be impossible to believe it wasn't sausage and bacon. Trust me it wasn't impossible. If the yanks can't mask rancid shite with any number of sauces / flavourings / chemicals, what chance have we got?

I regularly eat vegan and veggie partly to cut down on meat and partly for health reasons. I generally don't eat meat replacements you can do so much with beans, pulses, lentils, mushrooms etc that there is just no need to gonfor the fake meats. I'm told some are better than others but it just doesn't interest me.

Having a nut allergy I can't easily cut out all meat/animal products as I'd struggle to get protein. So I cut down what I can, treat meat as a bit of a treat where I do use meat I bulk it out with lentils for example. Takes a bit of getting used to but once you get in the swing I actually prefer most veggie meals.

Could never give up cheese tho!

  • The horrible atmosphere/culture in my current team at work.

Got moved into a new role against my will (funding for previous role was pulled) a couple months ago it's been a bit of a struggle but I thought I was getting there. Boss has generally been nice but a pretty poor manager and terrible communicator.

Other guy in the team has announced he's leaving and he's been there forever so my boss is rightly stressed. He's around for another month but she's decided I need to pick up his workload now so that he can focus on writing up handover on all his historical knowledge of the area. I raised concerns about this- I essentially said I can pick up what I can but my own workload has some big deadlines coming up so was already going to be very busy so picking up basically double again is going to be challenging and in the very short term (next 2 weeks) I'm not really able to work loads of extra hours as ots the build up to my wedding we have loads of admin to do and arrangements to organise. I can't work every evening during this period. She basically said "everyone has stuff going on find a way get it done". She won't prioritise or push back at all. She's made me feel guilty for logging off at 7 to have a call with our venue or another supplier even though I was working before 8. We have family and friends flying in from Australia, the Carribean, the states, India, people we havent seen in a year or more and she's making me feel guilty for meeting them in an evening after work. I'm not gonna get a chance to see them after the wedding so have to see them before.

Note I'm already doing significantly more than my contracted hours and will work in evenings whenever I can. I worked a bunch over the weekend because I felt I had to make up for stuff. It's putting all the wedding stress on my fiance which isn't fair.

This is the public sector and very much not the culture of the organisation as a whole just this team. Usually you are expected to work extras to manage peaks and troughs in work but this has been going on forever and is expected to last all of next year.

3 months in and I've never wanted out of a job more. It's not even interesting or fulfilling work.

    Rant over.

At the end of the day Canters you won’t get thanked for it.  What’s the worst that can happen if you don’t get all that additional work done? Concentrate on your own workload, your family, your wedding and your own mental health  - weddings are stressful enough so step back on the work side and don’t feel guilty about it.
Thanks mate. I know you're right I just find it hard to say no. I hate confrontation so laying out my concerns was my way of approaching it, was hoping for a bit of understanding but got nothing. Just have this nagging feeling in the back of my head that she's gunning for me in some way...

Gues I can just deal with it all in a months time...
  • Not been on this thread for ages..which is surprising as I'm am such a miserable sod!

Not sure if this has been mentioned. But Gmail

The inability to add new labels on the android app is the biggest ball ache. You have to go on a browser on a lap top to add them and are unable to do them on the app. The app where I look at 99.999999% of my emails.
How hard can it be to add a little + button!!

There has to be a reason for this. Now way that the biggest company in the world ever can't figure it out!
No doubt one of you smart bstr*s will!!

    This weather.

I love autumn.  T-shirt and jeans weather - you're not too hot, you're not too cold.  It's nice weather to walk in, and still warm enough to sit outside a pub etc, at worst you need a jacket.

We were due to take the kids swimming in a pool (that's clean), go for a bit of a walk and do some blackberry picking - lovely.

Now because it's "such a lovely day", we're at the beach.  It's too hot, I don't want to go in the sea because they're pumping sh*t into it constantly, the seaweed stinks, there's flies, sand will get into everything, then we'll go home, the windows have been closed so that now it's boiling and I'll sleep badly.

Bring on the thunderstorms in a couple of days and temperatures being about 10° less.
