One of the good things about Baseball is that different teams win the big one every year. Sure, certain teams win more often than others but it is much more open than the Premier League or most football leagues.
Even the best teams will probably lose 35-40% of the games which shows how open this sport is - although I presume in a 162 (ish) game season the better teams do get through.
Damn Yankees. Found out today how to get MLB TV through my PS3, the programme available through the PS store is only licensed for use in the states but a couple of sneaky shortcuts and my choice of any game in HD this season is all set up.
[cite]Posted By: Rob[/cite]Let's see what the Giants do this year. Being based in SF they're my team. Everyone will be trying to beat them this year so it'll be tough to repeat.
Nice to know I'm not alone... the Giants bit, not the living in SF.
Watching the boys play the evil Dodgers on ESPN America right now, no score bottom of the sixth, the Franchise just struck out another one. Need to get up for work in the morning, can I stay the course?

Algarve. Two things we have in common mate. We both love the Addicks and Giants. Great minds....
My Red Sox are having a hellish start. Never have I been so excited about the start of a year, but our starting pitchers have been flattering to deceive (Beckett looks a shadow of the man of 3 years ago) and Crawford looks out of his depth.
Oh well, the old adage of it being a long season is never truer than with Baseball.
Finally a win, and what better way to do it. I didn't watch last night but last week they advertised the Liverpool v West Brom match during the Red Sox game, I wonder if Liverpool TV will advertise any Boston games?
Get ESPN in Cambodia. Watched the three games in the last three nights, trying to get into it. I still don't get it. Can someone confirm that there's more to this game than loading the bases and getting the big hitter out to bat?
I'd like to think I'd be able to justify my like of the nba and nfl, can someone do the same for me? It would make my coming evenings a bit less boring if I got into baseball.
Chunes I guess it comes down to individual preferences, I have been to see NBA, NFL and MLB games and the only ones I took an interest in were baseball games, basketball I found to repetitive, football can be slow at times but baseball seems to be one of the few sports that even down to the final out it can come down to one swing to change the outcome of a game.
I find the fact that in a team game the 1 v 1 battle between pitcher and batter quite unique, it takes skill (to throw a ball at 90mph, over 60 feet into a relatively small area and the ability to make the ball deviate during it's flight and for a batter to try and hit that ball with a round bat that is under 3 inches in diameter) and nerve (trying to do all the skill elements as previously mentioned whilst knowing that the outcome can potentially win or lose a game).
Add to this some of the fantastic plays you see from fielders, the quick thinking and athleticism of some of these guys is unreal at times.
Like I said it comes down to personal preference, I would find it hard to explain why I love football and even harder to someone who doesn't love it as much as me.
edit - Can I please retract everything I have said, Red Sox are currently 8-4 down to Satan's team, I no longer like this game.
Red Sox showing glimmers of the side we thought we would see (and certainly I hoped for). 2 to 1 series win v the scummy Yankees, and 2 more home series to come v the Rays and Blue Jays.
Beckett was awesome yesterday - haven't seen him pitch that well for years (since I saw him versus the A's at Fenway a while back).
The road form has been patchy at best for 18 months now - will need to sort that out.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Blue Jays later in the summer, they've got the Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers whilst I'm over. I can't say I know that much about rounders but still, it's bound to be a laugh.
Watched the yankees go down to the Red Sox last night I know that our friend from New England will have enjoyed that one. Early days though, not that I think the Yankees will feature this year. Their pitching has no depth. I do expect Boston to get their act together, despite their 2-7 record so far. The meaningfull action is post all star break.
Sad to hear that Manny has retired from the game. Circumstances for retirement also very sad.

Great pitching from Lincecum.

Opening day. Pards v Cards at 9pm Sky Ch430.
GO CARDIES!!!!
Oops, that's a bit rich coming from a Big Mac fan

latest standings here.
White Sox and Cards not doing that well either.
Texas 6 - 0 but long, long way to go yet. Most sides only faced two other teams so can't judge yet.

Very good game.
Cards lost in the 12th when Albert dropped an easy throw so missing the final out. Giants went on to win 5 - 4

With the Cards it does but we did win last night.
Going to be a long season for us Cards fans I fear. Cincinnati already look set to win the division. Russa Out
