  • Ooh Fanny I do believe you've lost that label.

    54-5 ;-)
  • 55-6 Two to Riley (2-1) Bollinger and Stevens.

    Unbelievable scenes on CL!!!
  • Now 56-7 with only 23 extras

Meanwhile in the 2nd XI match against Sussex, Kent are 190-0 with Northeast 103* and Piesley 67*.

I smell a recall for Cowdrey in the next CC match. Not saying it's right but suspect it will happen now.
  • Only just logged on since lunchtime & what do I find ?????

Let's hope we can stay focused......for once !
  • YESSSSSSSSS!!

Derbyshire all out for 115 !!

We can win this one, lads !

( As the black rain clouds loom over Dartford....)n
  • Following on , Derbyshire 8-1 .

    Stevo strikes again !!
  • Riley 4-30 making it 28 wickets this season at 26.35. Little wonder Tredders is having to ply his trade for Sussex (0-40 off 8 overs in the current CC match against Durham).

    Durham following on now 8-1.

    Fanny all is forgiven ;-)

  • Close of play - Derby 32-3 so 186 behind.

  • Well, well.

333 from 259-8 so 3 batting points, bowl them out for 115, enforce the follow on and 32-3 at the close!

This is all unKentlike! What's the catch? Well I make it 15 wickets in the day and I believe the pitch inspector is called if more than 14 wickets fall on either of the first 2 days of a match.

What's the betting we lose all those bonus points as a deduction for a poor pitch?

(Sorry it's the Charlton fan in me!)
  • Hopefully nothing to fear Len (from Cricinfo report):

Scott Elstone laboured 26 balls for his nought before becoming the first of Riley's victims on a dry, dusting surface, which was being monitored closely by David Capel, the ECB pitch inspector. Former England allrounder Capel was making a routine visit and had not been summoned by umpires Rob Bailey and Martin Bodenham.

55-4 and a wicket to Riley. Still 163 runs behind.

  • 70-5 (Stevens 3-37). 148 behind.
  • 75-6 (Stevens 4-38). 143 behind.
  • 110-7 at lunch and 5 wickets for God (occasionally also known as Stevens).

The pitch inspectors are indeed coming....." Pitch Liaison Officer David Capel has called for a Pitch Panel to convene at the conclusion of the LV=County Championship match at Canterbury between Kent and Derbyshire. ".......
  • The pitch is fine, our last 3 tail-end batsmen managed to rack up 80 runs between them. Derbyshire are just a poor side playing poor shots
  • And they've managed to put on 57 so far for the 8th wicket. If we can get them to say 300 thereby setting us about 80 to win we'll be fine with the Inspectors.

Only issue then would be whether we could get a 80 in the last innings ;-(
  • 170-7 now

Only good thing, as said, is that it is hard to knock a pitch when numbers 7 and 9 are scoring freely.
  • All out 256. Stevens 6-64

    Kent need 39 to win.

  • Need 38 to win!
  • Surely even Kent can't feck this up ?????
  • Kent won by 10 wickets!

Now for the verdict re the pitch.
  • I have to say I'll be upset if we get deducted anything, as we did'nt have too mamy problems ourselves. Just two poor batting sides and for once, we were'nt the worst.

    Fingers crossed, Len.

  • Pitch inspection panel result is ' below average', no points deduction,on tweet from Jamie Clifford.

  • Phew !!!

Maybe it's an omen that our season will "start" from hereon in ?
  • Kent throw it away at Gloucester. Lose off the last ball.
  • Intrigued why Stevens only bowled 3 overs (0-14).
  • We are shite, had them at 60-4 piss poor yet again.
