Riley 4-30 making it 28 wickets this season at 26.35. Little wonder Tredders is having to ply his trade for Sussex (0-40 off 8 overs in the current CC match against Durham).
333 from 259-8 so 3 batting points, bowl them out for 115, enforce the follow on and 32-3 at the close!
This is all unKentlike! What's the catch? Well I make it 15 wickets in the day and I believe the pitch inspector is called if more than 14 wickets fall on either of the first 2 days of a match.
What's the betting we lose all those bonus points as a deduction for a poor pitch?
Hopefully nothing to fear Len (from Cricinfo report):
Scott Elstone laboured 26 balls for his nought before becoming the first of Riley's victims on a dry, dusting surface, which was being monitored closely by David Capel, the ECB pitch inspector. Former England allrounder Capel was making a routine visit and had not been summoned by umpires Rob Bailey and Martin Bodenham.
55-4 and a wicket to Riley. Still 163 runs behind.

(Sorry it's the Charlton fan in me!)
The pitch inspectors are indeed coming....." Pitch Liaison Officer David Capel has called for a Pitch Panel to convene at the conclusion of the LV=County Championship match at Canterbury between Kent and Derbyshire. ".......
And they've managed to put on 57 so far for the 8th wicket. If we can get them to say 300 thereby setting us about 80 to win we'll be fine with the Inspectors.
Only issue then would be whether we could get a 80 in the last innings ;-(
I have to say I'll be upset if we get deducted anything, as we did'nt have too mamy problems ourselves. Just two poor batting sides and for once, we were'nt the worst.

54-5 ;-)
Unbelievable scenes on CL!!!
I smell a recall for Cowdrey in the next CC match. Not saying it's right but suspect it will happen now.
Let's hope we can stay focused......for once !
Derbyshire all out for 115 !!
We can win this one, lads !
( As the black rain clouds loom over Dartford....)n
Stevo strikes again !!
Durham following on now 8-1.
Fanny all is forgiven ;-)

Only good thing, as said, is that it is hard to knock a pitch when numbers 7 and 9 are scoring freely.
Kent need 39 to win.
Now for the verdict re the pitch.

Maybe it's an omen that our season will "start" from hereon in ?
