  • Good friend of mine (forgive me, he is palace) who usually and annoyingly gets things right, reckons they will go bust as nobody is remotely interested in buying them. The 'interested parties' are just a ploy to buy some time.

I don't think anyone can possibly say if a buyer is likely, even the Administrator cannot be certain one way or another at this moment in time.

There clearly are some problems, most pressing of which is trying to sort out the ground issue. (Soundas, the position regarding the H&S of their main stand has recently been clarified by the council and doesn't appear to be a problem).

Personally I still think there is a reasonable chance that someone will come in and rescue the club, at least in the short to medium term.

I'm pretty sure that as long as the administrator continues to put the deadline back for serious bidders, the law of averages states that at least one of their fans will eventually hit the three numbers required on the national lottery to achieve this.

    Yep.
  • According to the Holmedale end SJ has had his yacht repossessed. Poor sod eh. I don't suppose he is tipping the waiters anymore.
At the end of the day the creditors will have to take 5p in the £1 rather than the 40p they are hoping for and palace will burst into life again.
  • Why would palace be a viable prospect? What about Cardiff or Watford to name a few, aren't they having problems and are up for sale? Definately a better prospect than Palace.

    Cristal Palace

RAP star P DIDDY plans to put the Cristal into Crystal Palace with a shock bid for the struggling London footie team.
The hip-hop mogul has decided he wants to be the next filthy rich foreign owner of an English club.

Eagle eyes ... P Diddy plans to back Crystal Palace
And Diddy, real name Sean Combs, is planning to splash some of his reported £360million on the Selhurst Park side who gave Sun columnist IAN WRIGHT his big break in football.
The bankrupt club is in chaos, facing relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship after having ten points docked for going into administration.
Former owner SIMON JORDAN was no stranger to the jet-set - so at least the poor fans are used to flamboyant playboy owners with a taste for the high life.
Diddy's swoop for The Eagles would bring some much needed bling back to south east London.
Last night his UK spokesman confirmed the multi-millionaire is in the market for Palace. He also added that the New Yorker has his eye on another big club.
    Bankrupt

A source said: "Diddy was in London meeting football fixers a couple of weeks ago. The finance is in place, he's just deciding who he thinks he'll make a bid for.
"Portsmouth were mentioned but he thought Palace were a better idea.
"He could cover their debt and bankroll a return to the Premier League. He liked the name as well."
English football is big business and I'm surprised it's taken the loaded rappers so long to get involved.
I only live round the corner from Palace and I'd be happy to show Diddy the best pubs in Forest Hill and East Dulwich.
He'd be welcome to a can of Irn-Bru at Smart Towers too.
There's some Selhurst Park history that I can fill him in on.
It was the scene of ERIC CANTONA's kung-fu kick on a fan. DAVID BECKHAM scored his stunning goal from the halfway line for Man Utd when Wimbledon were sharing the ground with Palace.
Speaking of Becks, the crocked star's commercial success in America with LA Galaxy must have had an impact on Diddy. But I think he should be looking north of the border to spend his pennies.

I heard this on the radio during the night when I was drifting in and out of sleep, thought it was just some kind of nonsense that you just dream and wake up and feel silly about having dreamed up it was so random. Can't stand the man can't stand the club, a hideous match made in chav heaven. Likes the name!! I ask you. Still even P Doddy or whatever he's called this week is still less loathesome than Simon Jordan though.
  • Just another joke episode for that comic book club.
  • Oh well, there goes Charlton Life's April Fools story for this year

  • Well well well, didn't see this one coming! No doubt he'll be the third owner to lose serious money in the club. I can't see a rapper having much patience with cristal palazze.
  • Ambrose & Butterfield think it's a good idea!
  • I know someone who owns the costume on the right. Based on him the caption is bang on!
  • perhaps he misheard a charlton fan say palace were a rap club and he now wants to join...
  • Oh dear...I read that Do Wah Piddley is now thinking of putting his hard earned dosh into arsenal rather than the palarse. I trust the administrator 'Brenda' did not make the mistake of taking Puddley to actually watch a palace game.
  • New album out on 22 June. Methinks his interest in a S London football club was gratuitous self-promotion.

Brenda, your work here is unfinished.
  • Good old P didy..... clever boy.....

Gets everyone to say his name once, then launches an albumn....
  • CRYSTAL Palace administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has revealed that he will run out of money to finance the club at the end of the season.

And Guilfoyle is urging interested parties to make their move for the South Londoners before Friday’s deadline for bids.

Rap star P Diddy was linked with a takeover swoop last week but it now appears that the American musician is not looking to invest in the Eagles.

Guilfoyle admits he has contingency plans if Palace do not secure a new owner before the end of the campaign. The biggest problem is that an £800,000-a-month staff wage bill will have to be met without any match income.

The Eagles are currently losing £2.2million a year, although that figure does not include rent on Selhurst Park, which is around £1.2m, and other interest payments.

Guilfoyle said: “I’m always looking nervously forward to the close season when the club ceases playing and the wages still need to be found. I don’t have funding for that period and that is why this deadline for the end of March is a real one. I need to have someone around otherwise I will have to start contingency planning.

“I’ve got a plan but I’m not going to discuss it yet because I’m optimistic we’re going to get a bidder.

“People have been hovering around the club for years - since Simon Jordan indicated he wanted out - and I can’t believe they are going to miss out on this opportunity.

“But if we get to April I will have to say what my contingency plans are - I can’t mess around and not let the supporters know. If I go public with that it might flush purchasers out who feel it is the time to intervene.

“Some clubs stay in administration for 18 months but I don’t understand how they do that. The cash burn in June, July and August is millions of pounds.

“There is a feeling that people are hanging back because somehow the price falls, but I don’t think so. There are a lot of components such as Simon Jordan, who is the biggest creditor, and the stadium to be sorted.”

P Diddy - real name Sean Combs - had hit the headlines last week after claims he was going to make an offer. But Guilfoyle seems to have dismissed that notion.

He said: “There seems to be a desire by him to help. David Groves, one of our associate directors, is in the music and film industry and we’ve got some feedback.

“P Diddy would like to help the club out but doesn’t want to put any money in, according to his people in the UK. On that basis I discount him. I conclude he may be somone potential purchasers want to explore but it doesn’t do me any good. I’m looking for someone who is prepared to direct a large amount of money towards the club.”

One option for Guilfoyle if he is still at Selhurst Park in the summer is to sell all of the first-team squad and operate with a team of youngsters.

That could be the kind of drastic action which could force someone to make their move before the squad is decimated.
  • Not looking good for the Nigels...
  • Jesus, that must be grim reading for Palace fans, I really hope we manage to evade this action happening to our beloved club next season.

  • Looks like they will be moving in with us and giving us their whole squad for free to cover the first year's rent :-)
  • Pee Diddyman has dropped out then, shame..

they have had a couple of red cards lately. perhaps he could do a job in the back 4*

*don't even think about it parky.
  • JOKE OF THE DAY

"I can’t believe they are going to miss out on this opportunity"

    I CAN !
  • Palace supporters' Trust held a meeting last night with the the football Club's CEO and Dougie Freeman as guests.

55 people turned up. Really surprised at that poor turnout. Bromley Addicks and City Addicks get more than that for an run of the mill meeting.

Another "deadline" today for interested parties to show they have £10m and so prove they are serious.

Meanwhile it appears that Palace got a lot less than £600k for Warnock and even the total figure is based on QPR going up in the next two years.

And another rumour from a Palace fan who claims to have got this from a Sun journalist is that the Palace administrator has negotiated a ground share with Charlton for next season as a contingency if they can't use Selhurst for some reason.

  • Can things get any worse for Palace?

Really feel for SOS & Budgie this is an awful situation, relegation seems almost inevitable for them as well now.
