No, they don't. Strive to disappoint? Utter rubbish. Football isn't divided into teams that try and thus do well, and teams that don't and thus lose. They tried tonight, but they just didn't click in any shape or form.[/quote]

that's why they are on £100,000 a week to adapt to these situations

Mate you've had far too much to drink that was utter toilet, 3 weeks ago the Mick's turned Algeria over 3 zip
  • [quote][cite]Posted By: cblock[/cite]Agree with Scott Parker should have been there.
Drop Rooney and Bruno, sorry , Heskey. Bring in Judas and Crouch, drop Lampard
who has been total crap so far, Gerrard in the middle. If it rattles a few ego's, all the better.[/quote]

Totally agree with all of that.
  • Worringly i though Barry looked one of our most progressive players. As for the Joe Cole debate, if played in the hole he has the ability to turn left or right, dribble or accurately pass and move. He's no Messi but I think he is one of the few English players who may be able to break uo this horrible static straight line nonsense we've seen over the last few matches.
  • Heskey and Lampard should have been hauled off at half time for Crouch and Cole.
Are they playing at altitude? They looked exhuasted, especially Rooney and Gerrard.
  • seemed to me that most of the team were showing Fab their dissaproval of the team picked, not deliberately but just in the confidence shown. they are all great players at their clubs so why not england.....can only be the manager IMHO

Glad i've not bothered going to be honest, did most of the qualifiers h & a but if i'd done 5 grand + on this I'd be sticking a vuvuzela down my throat and that pikey Rooney can eff of as well, not fit to lace Messi, Iniesta's etc boots

Barry was my English man of the match not that it means much! The guy has had no football yet kept going and didn't hide. Yes he gave the odd ball away but that was down to lack of match sharpness and not going missing unlike Fat Frank!

I didn't say it wasn't toilet! On the previous page I described it as 'atrocious' and 'woeful'. I just disagree with the blathering again and again that rubbish performance = they don't care. They care, of course they do. In fact it might sum up an english attitude that really is the problem: that football is all blood and thunder and that all that goes into a football match such as tactics, team selection and whatever else can be reduced to 'passion'.
  • [cite]Posted By: sadiejane1981[/cite]Can't imagine any of them having a worse game in their careers. I am disgusted with our representation even more so when I go out of my front door and see 800 England flags attached to my block. Because it reminds me of how big England mania is right now, the boys out there know how big it is and yet still strive to disappoint.

Very few of those players take any pride in their country.

Their demeanour during the national anthem betrays that fact.

players like barry will get us a 0-0 but never win us a game ....
joe cole is not the answer although like most footballers he is the answer until he is in the team and it really matters
how many poxy gay little flicks did lennon and co do that didn't work ... shocking...
i'm surprised how peed off i am but
i'm 80% we go thru 20% we 're going home ;-)
  • [cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]Abysmal.

The attitude of the England team to this world cup is epitomised by the attitude to the national anthem.

I noticed most of the algerians barely mumbled through theirs. Do they not care about playing for their country on the biggest stage either? I also don't remember Ozil, Messi or whoever else absolutely belting theirs out. The media used to go on about the rugby team singing the national anthem and that's why they did so much better than the football team. The rugby lads still sing the national anthem, but have been playing pretty awfully for the last few years, so it's conveniently been forgotten about.
  • Boo! Parky out!

    Sorry wrong thread.

The England rugby team is in a period of transition.

There are times they are beaten by better teams. I cannot recall an occasion where they have ever looked like they don't care though unlike most of that shower tonight!
  • Italy drew all 3 of their group games in 82' and ended up with the trophy. These are the straws we must clutch at.
  • That was utter garbage....100 K a week and you cant pass a ball 5 yards (terry, johnson etc....) Rooney has been terrible and should be replaced IMO....
  • That was simply the worst, most depressing England performance I have ever witnessed.

James 6 - OK Nothing much to do - our best player
Johnson - 4 - Started OK and got worse
Terry - 3 - Worst England performance - edgy and unassured
    Carragher - 3 - Slow, ponderous - suspended
A Cole - 5 Ok defensively but hardly got forward
Barry - 4 - Some reasonable challenges but didn't look match fit the longer the game went on
Gerrard - 5 - Tried hard but couldn't get in the game enough.
Lampard - 2 - One decent shot and f*ck all else. Like he played under McLaren
Lennon - 3 - Some movement but frightened to attack the full back
Rooney - 1 - No touch, no drive, got deeper and deeper, really nothing he tried came off
Heskey - 1- Back to the Heskey we all love to hate. Touch heavy, falls over a lot, hardly won anything in the air and has no striking ability

Wright- Phillips - 3 - looked more lively than Lennon
Crouch - 2 - Couple of touches but no chance for an impact
Judas - 3 - looked more lively than Rooney but no real opportunities

Man of The Match - Magic - 9 Thought he was real quality.

    Sort it out Capello.

Team for next match lined up like this 4-1-1-3-1

    James

    Johnson Terry Dawson A Cole

    Barry

    Carrick

    Wright-Phillips Gerrard J Cole

    Rooney

Trying to predict the Sun front page headline. And who will be the target. Rooney? Lampard? Gerard? Hesky? Cappello? I think it will be Cappello.
  • it doesn't matter how much they are paid if they aren't up to it they aren't up to it .....
if it was that simple the FA would pay em a shed load and we'd win the World Cup!
  • Rooney is unfit I think. Even in the warm-up when he was taking off his sweater he looked like he was in pain. His first touch was OK but his second woeful. By time it got to the 80th minute I just wanted the game to end. I figured that we had to take the draw because there was only one team going to win that.

Adrian Chiles said that we never get any luck. Wrong.
That disallowed goal for USA is the best bit of luck we could have hoped for.

Now we just need the team that qualified to turn up, instead of that rubbish lot we saw tonight.
  • [cite]Posted By: JorgeCosta[/cite]Boo! Parky Capello out!

    Sorry wrong thread.

Why don't Charlton England play with any passion? It's not like the days of Rufus Pearce Kinsella Gasgoine and Mendonca Shearer where the players would die for the shirt. This Charlton England team are a load of overrated, overpaid mercenaries who couldn't care less about their club country. They continuously play boring long ball football whilst the likes of Leeds France and Millwall Germany beat everyone out of sight every game whilst playing like Barcelona. We have absolutely no chance of ever being promoted winning the world cup without a couple of 20 goal-a-season strikers. If fact it doesn't matter if you're a pish team like Swindon Uruguay as long as you have strikers that meet that arbitrary target. Goals from midfield from the likes of Bailey Gerrard don't count. Parky Capello did well at first, but this bunch of players should be waltzing to the title simply by being on the team sheet. It's a piece of piss to win your first 6/7 competitive games and probably sheer luck on Parky's Capello's part.

    PARKY CAPELLO OUT!
  • My dad has said for as long as u can remember, at least 30 years that watching England is like watching charlton, just used to ignore him for years
but for the last 10 I can honestly see it.
  • [cite]Posted By: Addick Hig[/cite]If i was there i would have booed.

I would have stayed in the bar at half time.

We are so predictable; a few square a passes then one forward to the oppo's or lump up to the big fella who thinks hes a striker.
    At least we're not French.
  • If Capello is the hardnut that he is supposed to be then he has no choice but to drop that Scouse twat Rooney for the next game. How he stayed on the field I have no idea, he was worse than Bradley Allen.
  • So France, Spain and Germany have all lost whilst the mighty England remain unbeaten! Keep the faith! Rule Britannia!

    ;-)
  • I would rather us go out in a blaze of glory than having to witness that tripe again. When my wife turned to me after about half an hour and said "They are playing just like France did the other night", I knew I should have just effed off home.

Also for all Capello's bluster he has basically just picked the old guard, players on form, no favourites? My arse!
