Colly has scored has scored 70 runs in 5 innings, he is very lucky to still be in this side, would love to see Morgan playing but chances are they will keep the current team for the 5th test.
Looking to the future there are a number of reasons to now "rest" Colly. He is not just totally out of form but, keeping him in the side, prevents Bell's development.
In addition, it would give the opportunity for Morgan to come in and to use him as the "finisher". Our tail hasn't realy wagged in the series (mostly because they haven't had to) and Morgan's variety of shots and temperament is ideal for that job at 6.

There's no way colly will be dropped and nor should he be. Strauss will allow him to play himself back into form. I do agree that bell should be pushed up to 5 though.

Nothing to be proud of. Travel thousands of miles, sitting in 30c heat in Melbourne, out on an all dayer, will be in the pubs/beach by lunch ready to crack on with drunken brits or tanned slim aussies.....yet that morning you decided to wear a polyester Charlton replica shirt rather than your smart designer shirt or t shirt.
Stick to showing your "colours" on a St George flag hanging over the side, not wearing a replica shirt.

Agreed but the team has to evolve too and there is little or no room for sentiment. If Colly gets a ton in the fianl Test against a defeated second rate Test side what will that achieve? It will keep him in the side for another series when he will probably do the same again.
Colly has also been, for the last decade, one of the best two or three fielders in the world and whilst he will still pick up great catches time will also catch up with him on that aspect of the game. That is if it han't started to already, given his two drops right at the start of this Test which, against a batting side like India for example, could have cost us.

I agree to an extent, yes a lot of the recent success has been around a settled side however you can't keep someone in who continues to fail. Looking at his knocks for 2010 and there are some very ordinary scores in there, against SA it was ok at best, followed by a 145 against Bangladesh then a 3 and a 0.
Against Pakistan started well with an 82 followed by only 37 more runs in 5 innings. And then onto this series where again he has done nothing. I have always liked him, some superb knocks in his time and add some outstanding fielding into it but the time has come for him to go. I'm all for if it aint broke don't fix it, well the machine isn't broke but one of the cogs isn't functioning correctly and needs replacing.
He dropped one catch - in the first over which had it stuck would have been catch of the series. The other drop was down to KP shelling one at point in the third over.
Collingwood is considered England's talisman and I think this will be his last Test series, he's 34 and failing more often than not, we haven't missed his runs but that's because Strauss, Cook, KP, Trott and Bell have all been in good form. However next season is another year and while continuity is a virtue there is the risk that the England team will look like an exclusive club.
I'm not totally convinced by Eoin Morgan, he can bat in ODIs and T20 as well as anyone, but Test cricket is a different kettle of fish, at any rate he's the next cab on the rank so to speak, but there's also Gale, Hildreth and Lyth who have a good shout and could do a job. England's weakness is that there is no one in the top six who can bowl - Colly and KP are no better than fill in bowlers. That means if Prior bats at seven that England are putting all the bowling on the shoulders of three seamers and one spinner, which works if the wicket is green or taking spin, but on flat tracks or if one of that quartet gets injured mid-Test then we have a problem.
Sydney is not the Bunsen it once was, so no need for two spinners. England will go in unchanged. There is no way the modern Team England will drop Colly for the final Test, however I would not be surprised if it was his last Test for England.
Still waiting for OooohArrrr or Addict to call Siddle Dilley!
I think Prior should be given the responsibilty of No.6 next summer. With the likes of Swan, Broad and Bresnan at 7,8 + 9 the tail is not that long. If we continue playing 6 specialist batsmen I'd rather Bopara had another go before Morgan. We'll miss Collys overs and Bopara is a useful 5th bowler.

So are you saying we need Broad to become a genuine all rounder, push Prior to 6 or Broad at 6, with him bowling along with Anderson, Tremlett, Finn & Swann for example?

Should Colly have pouched either of the two misses in the last 20 minutes?

Wasn't Trott used as a "fill in" bowler when he first cam into the side? KP, Colly, Bell and Trott were all "all rounders" at one time but the bowling aspect of these batsmen always seems to get lost over time. KP could have been as good a back up spinner as the likes of North or Dumigny are for their countries imo.
Prior isn't a natural number six, that's been tried and it just doesn't work and weakens the batting/lengthens the tail. Broad at six is a non-starter too.
I'd like a batsman who could bowl a bit more than a few overs here and there, something along the lines of the job that Jacques Kallis or Shane Watson do for SA and Australia. Morgan doesn't fill that requirement, then again Andrew Gale, James Hildreth and Adam Lyth have no known bowling skills either.

Even Australia would drop a batsman with a record of three scores over 11 from 13 Innings!
Or Hamiltons ;-)
