  • I just re read your post. You said " Barking and yelping" the barking would tell me the foxes maybe winding him up. Yelping/crying would indicate seperation issues especially if Ian's away. Bailey kips wherever he chooses at night he has the run of the house he will always sleep downstairs, when I'm away he sleeps outside our bedroom door and looks after Lynne.

We're doing a radio day today with Alan Parton & EJ. For those who don't know the story, check out Endals wiki page. Quite a moving tale.
Being made in to a movie with Colin Firth & Kate Winslet.

Looks another tearjerker like Haatchi (sp)

  • I moved his basket from kitchen to the living room about 1am (without losing any fingers) and so he settled down then. Till he went to the bottom of the stairs at 5 to say hello ie bark his nut off. And as he won't come up the stairs I had to go and get him. Why won't he go up house stairs?? Little nutter.

    Ian's back his turn tonight.

My mate is telling me remedy rescue works!

He's only little you might find its the coming down that worry's him, so he wont go up there.
Rescue Remedy...........Not a fan of pumping things into my dogs and try to stay with natural products, but I have heard good things about those defuser type things that puff out those smells that have a calming effect on dogs rather than the so called tonics.
We are having fun with Xena at the moment she is at those teenage months and is constantly challenging Bailey for his spot in the hierarchy, she attacked him again wednesday and is really pushing her luck with him she bit through his lip, blood was everywhere I had to get in there or he'd have killed her, I now walk them one either side of me to keep them apart and to me a dog on my right dont feel correct....
  • Ooh sounds nasty and also very brave or silly on Zenas part!
  • Ray back up and running on pc so the pics will be up soon

Zena must be nuts , bailey must be fuming aswell

Lola def pushing the hierarchy challenge had to be quite strict with her this week
  • Look forward seeing them.
Yes, Xena is a bit mad, that has been said in this many a time in this house. But takes a lot to knock him out of his stride, some of his good looks have taken a knock with a fat lip and a couple of cuts to his face. Xena has a sore ar5e where he bit her, but fortunately he was just seeing her off and didnt break the skin.
  • Sort of mates again, earlier todayimage
  • here you go mate Scarlett asks if ever GSD is like bailey and can she cuddle them, gets upset when I say no

Rufus found a bird that had fallen out of its nest. He brought it to us to make it better, then watched over it until it flew away. This is the third injured creature he's brought to us in his mouth but never harmed.
  • First trip to the seaside.
  • He likes to sit up rather than lay down.
  • Great photo's and I love the 3rd one.............. :)

    Half Wolf, half Meerkat :-)

  • My Parsons Jack Russell Bitch rescue bit me yesterday, facing a real dilemma now.
I am her third owner and she has previous for turning.
Wont make a quick decision but have to take all things into account.
    Not easy!
  • Sorry to hear that, having a rescue dog as I know only too well has its own problems and the biggest one is not knowing the dogs history.
The decision to return her to the rescue would be very difficult one to make and only you can make that call, so I wish you luck in that one.
What were the circumstances when she bit you?
  • TCE,
This is actually the third time she has bitten in 3 years.
We have no history but have deduced, rightly or wrongly, that she was originally an elderly ladies dog.
She has a great affinity with my elderly female neighbor who was patting my girl when I was trying to put her lead on.
Obviously thought I was a threat and went into attack mode, not once but twice, left a nasty wound literally on the hand that feeds her.
Trying to manage the problem and will see how it goes, but hoping for the best.
  • One thing I would say is, she is has almost certainly an affinity with older people and she thought you were a threat to her or the lady. Try to avoid bending over you dog when putting a lead on (difficult especially with small dogs) making direct eye contact also would be considered a threat. I dont know how local you are to me, maybe I could help.
  • A mate just sent me this. Her Shep with his mate and yes, the rabbit does bite. ;)

  • worried as my boy had a blood test last week and his kidney and liver counts were elevated. he sees the specialist on tuesday, i don't like the sound of their talk, he's only 13.

Good luck with the tests, Baileys back in on Saturday for his check up and I can see the changes in him he tires easily, carrying his head very low generally getting old before his time. He's very stiff at the backend although if you manipulate his legs it doesn't cause any pain, everything is so much of an effort for the boy that it breaks your heart.

Good looking dog. I'm sure he'll be OK.

I've just moved buildings at work, and we have a Lab guide dog in the new office. She's made her home under my desk. Can't see much work getting done for a few weeks.
  • it does break your heart, always the sadness of having a special relationship with an animal, is times like these when they worry you to death but hey here am i talking as if he's gone already.

i'll take a leaf out of your book man_at_millets and of course he'll be ok. thanks guys.

    Good stuff.
We had a Border Collie when the kids were young, and she was a fine extension to the family, just couldn't get on with other dogs off the lead. But hey ho, she made up for it in plenty of other ways. I bought her from a farm near Longfield.

We took her on holiday one year to a working farm, and the farmer was happy for me to let her run with the cattle in the fields, and her instincts kicked in immediately, and without a word from anybody she was rounding them up. She loved it.
