Dean Kiely, Sidcup sorting office around 2005 . Bizarrely I was picking up some signed Dean Kiely gloves that a friend had bought in a charity auction for me and I’d gotten Peter Varney to get signed by Deano . By the time i got the story of the coincidence out to Deano his eyes had glazed over and he was totally bored
Most of the squad in Mahikis nightclub uptown just after we’d stayed up in 2014 ... I’d got the tip off they were going in there by a friends friend who was a manager in there (what a stalker) Bought them a surfboard of shots later on in the evening and got introduced to them Had already spoken to Callum Harriot who got me to big him up as a footballer to a bird he was banter , Sordell was a bit quiet. Bought the squad a surfboard of shots later on in the evening and by that time everyone was battered . Got introduced by the manager to a couple of the players . Some proper pissed wallys (as one I know one) but standout nice ones and super friendly Lawrie Wilson , Richard Wood and Andy Hughes

YOU bought THEM, that should have been the other way round.
Whilst selling my previous drum I had Langford Russell agents come round to value the place. I had some Charlton stuff on the walls and the agent kept name dropping Eddie Youds(he was the manager of the Beckenham branch).
Dean Kiely just as he was leaving us for West Brom, when i worked for a hire company, his wife hired and drove a van from us and he was was outside in his car waiting for her when she returned it, went had a quick chat with him and wished him luck etc

Saw Andy Hughes leaving his blackheath property near the duck pond one early morning
Another Deano story (didn’t involve me) - a friend of my wife took her daughter to a kiddies party, said there were bouncy castles and all sorts of things for the kids, and best of all a bar set up for the mums and dads. She said to one of the other mums “this must be costing a packet”, the other lady said something like they can afford it, her dad is Dean Kiely....to which she replied “who’s Dean Kiely?” This was swiftly followed by a roar of laughter from the great man who was standing behind her with a tray of drinks in his hand :-)
I once saw Steve Brown doing the dutiful husband bit by accompanying his missus as she browsed the women's section of Next in Bluewater. Naturally, he did appear less than impressed with being there.
Was Brownie commentating?
"That's poor decision making there. When you've already got 4 red blouses, you need to be disciplined, and concentrate on your task which is to find a blue jumper."
Stuart Balmer on the M5 services northbound near Birmingham. He was in a mini-bus full of Wigan players going back up from the Cheltenham races so at least 20 years ago now. Couldn't resist grabbing a word and he was nice as pie as well as being a bit drunk. Can't remember how it came up but he was less than complimentary about Millwall.......!
Andy Todd at Manchester airport with his Mrs and had a chat.....then when I took my seat on the plane, Andy was across the isle from me so we chatted pretty much all the way to Gatwick. Nice guy and his Mrs was chatty too.
Holland and Ambrose at a Blackpool hotel, Matt was polite but Ambrose was a bit of a dick.
Pardew in same hotel.....shame I didnt see him the next morning.
Brian Kinsey a few times as he coached one of my sons. Sat next to Hales at a game.....they say you should never meet your heroes.....so true.
Graham Stuart at an accountants we both used.
Saw John Robinson on the way to the Valley on the M25 more than once in a Ford Escort, one occasion he was bopping away at some song looked over and laughed when he saw me.
Solly at Starbucks (Strood, not Bluewater) not long before he left us. Saw Albie Morgan, still in training gear, leaving M&S in Strood right before the start of this season. Wished him luck, feels like I cursed him now!
I used to manage a farm shop opposite Ruxley Manor,Dean Keily bought a load of pots and Claus Jensen bought a Christmas tree, both guys very happy to talk about Charlton. Also met Gary Nelson at Le Touquet golf centre ,,told us some great stories about his time in football.
