Yeah - what a nightmare it would be having to spend time with law-abiding citizens. Much better to sort out all your own problems, especially since everyone is of equal physical prowess, has no qualms about physical violence and believes in 'an eye for an eye' rather than being, you know 'civilised' and all that.

Sorry SE10 but I'm not following the logic here. I agree with you that we should be concerned about "paedophiles, rapists, terrorists and burglars", but does that mean that we choose to ignore other crimes that we consider to be less important. Surely someone's either committed a criminal act or not. If they have, such as the violent assault in this case, they should be dealt with appropriately. And if people have information that will help catch them it should be reported to the authorities. Perhaps if everyone did that, it might free up some police time that could be used to help catch more serious criminals. I don't see this as an either/or scenario; the police are duty bound to deal with this bloke so congratulations to those that have helped make their job easier.
I don't know about wanting him to do "a 4 stretch", but I do want this guy punished and that punishment needs to be a step up from a banning order. He's been banned before, has broken bans before, and has not learned any lesson from that. It's not up to me to decide what that punishment should be, his case needs to be heard be a judge or magistrate and if found guilty (it's difficult to see how he wouldn't be) he should be punished in the most appropriate manner be that prison, a fine, community service or something else.
