Well I was just surveying the scene out of my bedroom window not being able to get any more sleep (at about half 6) and just after I had decided that given the wind direction there was only one tree that might cause us a problem (a massive oak in next door's), half of the bugger breaks off, flies just short of the window, clips the conservatory roof and lands through the brick wall and fence and squarely in the garden pond. I've since fled to the safety of the office!
Quiet night in Kent, no more calls than usual and I got a full nights sleep, round my village hardly and damage.
You're lucky then, because the part of Kent where I live (on top of the North Downs) has taken quite a battering. Nearly all fence panels are down and wrecked and the contents of my neighbour's shed are strewn across the adjacent field,

get some duck tape and fix it back on the tree
I might need a crane first, but that's not a bad suggestion for phase 2!
Dorset police saying over 100 trees on roads in the county this morning so maybe those Doritos are more powerful than they were given credit for.
Wandered to the top of the road last night and it was a bit lumpy but I've seen the sea a lot rougher and it didn't feel like the 99 mph they had at the Needles. Ironically had my best journey to work today since the summer holidays were on.

Same, once I had got out of the way of the stretch of line that had been closed, getting into Liverpool Street was Olympic-esque in terms of volume of people. I'd imagine half term has helped a lot as well.

Doesn't sound good. The fire service had hardly any calls across Kent, far fewer than you would expect. Luckily people seem to have escaped harm other than the bloke that was in the car that had a tree fall on it.
Thames Valley Police have their priorities right! Speed camera van active from 6.30 in my road while less than a mile away the main Ascot - Windsor road had one side blocked in two places by fallen trees. Traffic management? No way!
