Sangakarra was different class, but we should have been able to defend that total better. If rain holds off and we beat the kiwis, surely we are through regardless...? or are you just after the England game to be at the Oval Riviera?
Captain Cook is not 'too disappointed' ... well he should be .. we now have to beat NZ to be sure of qualifying and they recently beat us on home turf in a 3 game series. Cook seems to be a nice guy, a very good orthodox batsman and an all round handsome pin up boy .. but he is not a good captain. England, just as is often the case in rugby, look as though they take the field with every detail of the game laid out beforehand, for example; each field placing for each batsman is pre ordained leaving little room for innovation or captaincy inspiration. Cook is too soft on his bowlers, they will need a right bollocking from time to time to keep them focussed and aggressive. Cook's batting with Bell and Trott at the top of the order is too pedestrian placing too much pressure on the less experienced middle/late order batsmen. All three are terrific test players, but far too orthodox and slow scoring for the 50 over game. Trott is quite a heavy scorer and is improving his scoring rate, but he still scores his runs too slowly especially when Bell is pottering about at the other end. Treadwell needs to be in the side as the pace bowlers are too expensive. Bresnan, lovely guy, whole hearted and a good cricketer. He should be dropped and Treadwell brought in, especially as theoretically, England now have batsmen as low as number 7. The thing is, we need to beat the Black Caps, otherwise it's back to the gym and the drawing board for the England elite

Sure if we win we're through, but yes I am hoping to see England on Wednesday.

Both Agnew and Tufnell agreed that pre DRS Cook wouldn't even have been appealed against let alone given out.
I hope Bairstow replaces Morgan on Sunday.
I was there for the 2nd half last night, good atmosphere.
We need to beat the Kiwis and hope Aussie beat Sri Lanka (both seem unlikely) to get us into Wednesdays semi at the Oval. I've got tickets for that.

SA 122-1 after 17 overs.
WI are stuck on 190-6 from 26.1 overs because the rain is back. If they can't resume, it will be a tie on D/L and SA progress because of a better NRR.
India are group winners, SA finish 2nd.
India got to win it now
Pak 88-3 after 22 overs.
62-1 from 11 overs.
39 runs from 63 balls... hm. Think India will want it over ASAP before the rain comes back.
NZ won toss & bowl.
