Powell has really turned things round at Huddersfield.

I'd would be really happy if we signed Holt and Poyet.

Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell :-0

I wanted Grant Holt at the Valley before Powell got him... :-(

Bloody hell. That's a superb signing for them. Where's the knobhead Huddersfield fan who was labelling Powell the worst manager they've ever had, after about two games?

Yeah just think. If he hadn't taken the 'gamble' to multiply his wages and have the chance to play at a higher level when his contract had ended with us, he could've now been attracting the attentions of a league one club who can't match our valuation.

Spoke to someone at West Ham a couple of weeks ago. They were very disappointed with his progress but apparently Big Sam didn't want him in the first place. Bilic however will play whoever he is told to play, so Gold and Sullivan will make sure he gets some game time ( apparently ) ..

Considering he has only played a handful of games since leaving Charlton, I imagine it will be hard to judge how much he has developed in pure footballing terms.

Another classic example of a young player breaking into first team football and being very badly advised. I'm thinking that if he had remained at The Valley for just last season he would now have seventy odd games behind him and I don't doubt that he would have progressed. Instead he's now classed as "a disappointment" and his career has stalled. Not much chance of another PL team being interested so he's going to loaned to a championship club again and in all probability will end up signing for a championship team full time to rebuild his reputation.

    Grab the money son.

Which England age group squad would he qualify to play for, next season?

Another backward step, if he isn't playing.

Good. I can't help but feel a little smug after his games on Twitter, no doubt ignoring the advice of everyone within the club, and leaving through the back door at The Valley. This was always going to happen. **** him.

He's a grandad compared to the 16 year old he played alongside last night, Reece Oxford, the youngest ever player to play for the Hammers.

I only saw him only a few times. A couple live and a one or two on TV. I was immensely disappointed every time given the hype about him I use to read on here. Reminded me a lot of Josh Wright. Looked good but when you analysed it rarely good in a way that hurt the opposing team like a Parker or Coquelin. Playing in a free deep role always asking for a short pass from the defender when he had no opponent within 20 yards and then 9 times out of 10 strolling side ways and making an easy square pass around the half way line. He just seemed completely ineffectual to me.

Anyone that thought he would walk into the team is mental, judge him at the end of this season. The time at Liverpool not playing didn't seem to do Jonjo any harm

I think it was us that grabbed the money for Gomez.
  • I actually think he'll play 20+ games next season for the hammers.

He'll then start the season after that as first choice.

Some people on here are very precious!

Some on here seemingly forget that he is only 20 years old. Still has time to get himself involved on a more regular basis, and infact I hope he does just to shut up some of the 'told you so' merchants on here who still haven't moved on.

Just so I am on the right page, dont want to boo the wrong players next time I see them

Poyets contract ends and he leaves = bad.

Gomez fucks off half way through his contract = not too bad.

Church kicked out by club at end of his contract = good.

When he broke into the team he was mostly the best player we had. I of course accept that you may have seen only a couple of poorer performances but on the whole he was a revelation. Player of the year in fact.

Had he remained and got games in the championship last season I don't doubt he would now be the subject of much PL transfer speculation and for a very decent fee and wages greater than he achieved last year.

I don't generally blame players from making the jump onto PL when they get the chance. Very often life changing financially. But so so many of thes lads make that choice one season too soon. In Poyets case I doubt he was in desperate need of the money anyway.

His career has hit a wall. His stock is now less than it was a year ago. Nothing will convince me that he wasn't badly advised.

The fact he showed zero loyalty irks me a bit also.

I happen to think he can pull his career back because I think he's actually a real talent but he would have been better to remain with us.

Compère his departure with that of Shelvey and Gomez. They showed class and loyalty and consequently have the affection and good wishes of all Charlton supporters.

We are a fickle lot I know but I think my assessment is pretty widely agreed with.
