Cycle to work scheme guys. Did it last year after being fed up with Southeastern and don't regret it at all. May change my mind once flattened by a HGV but so far so good.
Yeah I am the same, best change I've made even though cycling through Lewisham and New Cross can be a bit hairy at times.
It would take me 3hours 15 to cycle the 34 miles from chatham to Westminster. I'll give that a miss...
Takes me an hour and 25 to cycle 32 miles from Leyland to Rochdale. Pedal faster.
That long? You need to ditch the hybrid and get a road bike!
Don't usually feel sorry for people at hither green but at 6.55am when you can't actually get on a train as they are too full there is something seriously wrong.
Edit to say that was actually Lee (my mistake). HG folk got no chance. The driver is muttering something about moving down but can't really hear him. No apologies. People running past to the back to find any space.
Good luck today folks. I've baled and am working from home. I'm lucky to have that option and a considerate employer. I feel for those who who have neither.
Some of you need to be more grateful by the way, some of us don't even have trains and haven't since Saturday, and won't until Friday.
Are you still expected to get in using buses. DLR etc ?
I was, but I quit my job yesterday so today I'm putting my feet up. Wasn't too bad though, I don't live too far from North Greenwich but I hate the tube I really do. Used to get the train to Cannon street and walk 30 mins to work in Clerkenwell. That was lovely

Bloody hell, you must really hate the tube if you quit work after two days using it!

If you could walk for 30 mins surely the walk over London Bridge wouldn't have killed you!
Anyone that gets a train to cannon st that can't cope with 4 days of walking from London Bridge is why we have obesity! Also why when we have a tube strike 8 billion people hit the city looking like they've just landed from another planet.
if travelling to charing cross to come home, jump on district line 4 stops to victoria never usually any problems and emptier trains. i left work at 5 last night was in by 6.30, freind was stuck at charing cross for nigh on 2 hours.

But I can't get a train to London Bridge... I have to go via North Greenwich. And don't get me wrong I walked from home to North Greenwich which is a nice 30 minute walk too. I love a walk in the morning!
I think people's problem with tube strikes is that they have a lack of geographical and transport sense of London. Basically they know their route to work and all of a sudden have to find another one, as creatures of habit, that is very stressful.

Same here, I've opted to avoid the mess. I'll still be submitting delay repay claims for every day this week.
Third day in a row of delays getting into London Bridge. Things were better when the station was shut!
Looking forward to the announcement tomorrow that "Due to over-running engineering works there are no trains to Cannon St today, and the promised extra replacement services are still to turn up" . How SE can morally defend charging for their service this week is beyond me.

There are no trains at all from stops between Charlton and Deptford this week.
There are replacement bus services and I actually saw one this morning.
I have been using DLR, bus and tube. Tonight going to take the boat home, can drink on the boat.
Couldn't even get a seat at Petts Wood this morning and was utterly crushed by the time it got to Grove Park...
It's almost like removing a train from the timetable which gets to Charing Cross just before 9 (when probably most start work) and forces 2 lots of people to get the same earlier train, at the same time as starting to stop this train at London Bridge where even more people would use it is a bad idea.
Broken down train on Bexleyheath line - stuck and seriously fucked off once again....couldn't make this shit up......
Yep, I was stuck behind that one too. 35 minutes late on a 28 minute journey. Hey, at least I get my £1.30 compensation! Yayyyyyy!!!!! Maybe I should not bother buying a ticket and then when they try to fine me twice the single fare I pay them £2.60. I'm sure they'd accept that.

God bless you Southeastern. Consistent as always.
No worries go to bank/monument get the DLR. Unfoetunately not working due to random trespassers on the line between Canary Wharf and lewisham.
Take the tube one stop northern line from bank to London Bridge, jubilee line to North Greenwich.
Busses from North Greenwich cues absolutely rammed at 7.30 tonight.
Walk home, takes 25 minutes walking.
Got to go in tomorrow. Going to public transport in and uber-can home if I can get the boss to sign off on that.
