Pathetic this morning - barely averaged 20mph. Still, if I'd driven it, it would have been about the same speed, as the M61 was wrapped up for ten miles.jamescafc said:
That long? You need to ditch the hybrid and get a road bike!Leroy Ambrose said:
Takes me an hour and 25 to cycle 32 miles from Leyland to Rochdale. Pedal faster.cantersaddick said:
It would take me 3hours 15 to cycle the 34 miles from chatham to Westminster. I'll give that a miss...FishCostaFortune said:
Yeah I am the same, best change I've made even though cycling through Lewisham and New Cross can be a bit hairy at times.jamescafc said:Cycle to work scheme guys. Did it last year after being fed up with Southeastern and don't regret it at all. May change my mind once flattened by a HGV but so far so good.
You lot moaning about the trains down there would have a field day up here. They're only just electrifying the main route from the West coast into Manchester and most of the trains are (literally) coaches on train wheels

Had a glorious drive in this morning at 6 slight traffic at blackwall tunnel but was in by 6:40 might fuck the trains off altogether and stick to this, air conditioning, music and a fag, what dreams are made of.0

On for a commuting hat trick tonight, DLR, train and bus.
Crazy times0 -
I worked from home today, are they still Donald ducked?0
-
Walked along the cliffs with a Spitefire and ME 109 doing a dog fight over head for 15 mins --- got home did a bit in the garden --- had a beer ---- watched another Spitefire in DDay markings doing a barrel roll----- read this thread and thought " yep --- did the right thing son--- get out while you can"5
-
Got home fine tonight0
-
Me too. Some trains were delayed by a couple of minutes but got through London Bridge fine. Train wasn't too packed and got a free bottle of water at Charing Cross and some poor bloke in pink high vis tabard at new eltham offering water to passengers.0
-
Bloody typical! The day I stay at home the trains go back to normal!! Pleased for you all nevertheless. :-)
Actually the train I would have caught this morning took an hour and a half!1 -

Why the fuck are these useless morons getting £20m of public money to help improve services? They're a private company, just cancel their contract and get someone else in.

Got pissed after work so thought it best not to cycle back. Checked the train times on the internet and saw that there were delays through Lewisham - now worried that it was not a risk worth taking.0
-
Took ages to get home but that was mainly as a result of walking from the Gherkin to Tower pier, having a beer on the boat, very bumpy today, and then walking down to the Theatre of Wine, missing a bus and deciding to walk home (three buses passed me that would have made it quicker, the one I nearly took would have taken me the wrong way so a net win)0

In an absolutely shocking turn of events this morning, Cannon St was actually open as planned and my train was only 5 minutes late getting in. First time all week I've not been late for work!0
-
SE website said all morning that there was disruption on the line, yet all trains ran on time. Boss was in shock when I actually arrived on time for work.1

Working from home - but just woken up.

Meanwhile Go Ahead which owns 65% of Southeastern and Southern reports a bumper increase in profits
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37253789
But its Chief Executive has decided to forego an increase in his salary and a bonus because of the poor service. Given his basic is £2.1m a year I'm sure we can all feel his pain.
I strongly recommend everyone signs the following petition so as to put an end to this racket.

Because it had to be given quickly before they announced their profits the next day"! Who said the "Thick of It" wasn't a documentary?Off_it said:

This just never ends. All back to normal this morning I thought. Yippee. Train delayed by 14 mins, warning of points/signalling issues ahead and heating on full blast. I'm beyond anger now. In that resigned benign helpless stage. Goodness knows what will happen when winter sets in.0

You know what happens..the heating is turned off to save money and instead of over heated singnals and warped tracks you will have frozen and flooded ones...oh and your fares go up in JanuarySillybilly said:This just never ends. So now it seems the Cannon Street trains are formed of less carriages just because no longer stopping at London Bridge. There ain't fewer people starting the journey home at Cannon Street !!!!
Too much to expect Southeastern to actually do something about it.

If anything there are more people traveling from Cannon Street as some of the LDN bridge commuters walking up to get a seat at Cannon Streetvalleynick66 said:So now it seems the Cannon Street trains are formed of less carriages just because no longer stopping at London Bridge. But that's what us Charing Cross-ers have had for the last 18 months or so. 4 carriage trains during rush hour! Moving to south west London on Saturday so won't ever have to take southeastern trains to work anymore! I mean southern trains can't possibly be as bad as southeastern can it?! Ha ha, ha ha, ha...
*gulp*3 -
At least you missed the strike this week!
Got a seat today and the seat next to me. 5.43 train.0 -
Southern are bloody awful. Far worse then SE in my opinion. Having lived and grown up in Welling/Bexleyheath I suffered connex and SE. Now living in Edenbridge and only having southern it has made me realise that they are worse. This year has been a nightmare. How they havnt had the Franchise taken off them I don't know.0

Absolute joke today... Bloody glad I only have 2 more days of this shit before I'm done with work and back to uni! Can't wait!!!0
-
Canters don't you go from Chatham? Other than pikey schoolkids it's pretty sensible today. Having said that I'm not on the train yet!0
-
Well, my 0821 has left on time but what a change from the last few months. Until last week it was the 0820, 8 carriages and got busy at Blackheath. Today it's 10 carriages and is rammo by bexleyheath. At least the heating is off today for the first time this week. Just pulled into welling and lots of "what the f..." expressions on faces on the platform as the full carriages pull in.0
-
I do. My 7:43 train from chatham arrived with 8 coaches instead of 11. Rammo and boiling. No explanation given. No seats before it even got to Chatham and being a short arse I am squashed in someone's armpit!Carter said:Canters don't you go from Chatham? Other than pikey schoolkids it's pretty sensible today.
