Well, my 0821 has left on time but what a change from the last few months. Until last week it was the 0820, 8 carriages and got busy at Blackheath. Today it's 10 carriages and is rammo by bexleyheath. At least the heating is off today for the first time this week. Just pulled into welling and lots of "what the f..." expressions on faces on the platform as the full carriages pull in.

Is that a Charing X or Cannon St train?

That feel when everything's so delayed that you end up getting the train that was scheduled 20 minutes before and end up at work on time anyway

That's pretty much like the Cannon St trains have been on my line for the last 18 months. Sickening to see two half empty Charing X trains go past and know that when the Cannon St train arrives it will be standing room only.

Taking forever to get through London Bridge at the moment. I swear these fuck nuggets wait till it's over 25c before really going full tits up mode.

Intermittent platform closures due to overcrowding at LB.

They've hired the old rent a mob security guards to stand at bottom of escalators and stairs to deal with overheated and pissed off commuters...

This has taught me for being smug and grateful about my 'free' Costa gift card that I redeemed this morning at 6.30am as I walked into work. They gave them out last week at London Bridge as an apology for cocking up so massively last week.

Heating is on on this train I'm on that's currently being overtaken by everything whilst at a standstill at Waterloo east and currently running about 25 minutes later than scheduled......

You can't apply online for a refund when you have an oyster travel card either so it'll cost me ink, paper and a stamp to get a shitty £3.50 south eastern refund.

Plus I have no proof of my usual journey as I go a variety of ways to and from work to avoid standing around and I don't need to tap in and out at every station if barriers are open.

I don't know whether to scream or cry I'm so frustrated.

You can get a refund online Suzi, I have but it's a pittance of the cost of the annual oyster/Travelcard

Amazing. Close most of it off to increase capacity and after a week it's already exceeded it. Classic

Thanks just tried doing it online uploading a picture of my oyster statement although the monthly statement I just got doesn't even cover the purchase of said travel card! No idea why not as I've not gone without?! Will see anyway.

Taken me an hour and 40 minutes from Charing Cross to Hayes, fucking joke. Train is a sauna aswell, gasping
  • One of the last nice evenings of the summer and these wankers cost me half an hour of my life. People not doing their job properly again.

Just to piss you off even more, I had a meeting in Manchester today, got home early and missed the disruption. Am now tucking into another beer and the bbq is lit.

2000 at charing cross. Fucking chaos. I despair. Couldn't run a farting party in a bean factory.

Funny enough, I had a site visit and took the JLE to North Greenwich.
Couple of pints in the rose of Denmark, and as luck would have it, my mate was just driving through black wall tunnel when I called him.
A couple more pints in the Woodman, and home safe and sound.

0800 dartford to Charing Cross. Beautiful late summer morning. Heating on full blast. Fortunately not in every carriage (which I thought was impossible) so I've found one that is merely hot. Good luck to those who join further down the line and have no choice.

Returned to commuting last year after eight years of doing other things. Nearly posted something before about my reflections on the changes over that period (FWIW they are essentially about the enormous rises in bike usage and smartphones). I would have said that the commute was, generally, a more pleasant experience than before with less busy and more reliable trains. I now realise that was all a temporary state of affairs due to the London Bridge works. This week with mobbed unreliable trains is how I remember it from before. Oh well, it was good (in relative terms) while it lasted.

Pretty sure I'm on that train, it's running on time and is actually pretty pleasant in the carriage I'm in.

Would still prefer to cycle, but to fat and unfit to do three days in a row at the moment.

Yup. Pleasant where I am too. Now late though after a delay at London Bridge.

I'm going to bite the bullet next month and give up my gold card and get a yearly oyster. Be damned the extra expense as DLR far more reliable.

Just left Hither Green and I can hear a row in the next carriage. 'What you looking at me like a c**t for I just said there's no room as there isn't any.

There is also a dog sitting down (not a guide) taking up the standing space for at least 3 people. Lots of tutting.

    Happy Friday. Heating is on.
  • Last day of the commute before I retilurn to uni. A miracle the train is on time (well within 5 mins of when it was supposed to leave) but what's that? Seats? You'd like a seat? No chance of that....

Surely a dog takes up less room sitting down than it does standing up.

Guess what readers?! The day ends in a "y" and you know what the means - the trains have gone to shit again! 23 minutes to get from Charing Cross to Waterloo East.

    Utter, utter, useless c#=;s!

Because it's all so predictable (he writes in quite a frustrated manner from platform 7 at London Bridge)
