I am sure in the absence of any rumours that Charlton supporters are allowed to remember the best period in Charlton's history, Silent Addick :-)

The main point is that Scott Parker leaving undermined a potential best finish in the modern era in the Premiership. I agree with Razil on that. Any opinion on that Henry ? (or you just wanted to be precise on the best league finish ?)

I wonder how many Addicks fans still around / reading CL watched a few games of that season ? It would be great to hear from them.

    Best finish 1936 / 37

    Season L# Pos P W D L F A W D L F A Pt ±

    1938-1939 1 3 42 16 3 2 49 24 6 3 12 26 35 50
    1937-1938 1 4 42 14 5 2 43 14 2 9 10 22 37 46
    1936-1937 1 2 42 15 5 1 37 13 6 7 8 21 36 54

From 1936 to 1939, only 5 defeats, a truly remarkable record. This along with the two FA Cup finals immediately after the war only makes me think that we would have been a regular top four club if the war did not intervene...
Unfortunately it was just our away form that seemed to let us down even back then

    Good question. Why do you?

You know it's filled with everything but a proper rumour, right?

Has no-one told you two that it's rude to be sitting round the dinner table racing to see who can post the same thing on CL??

Apparently John Gregory had a chance to sign him last Tuesday but decided to delay it.

Re Tucadean..........People were getting excited over COG who had a similar goals to games ratio over his career and certainly had never played in the Europa League. And this guy is the same height as him. Good age, what's not to like? I don't hold not having heard of foreign signings against them. I am sure a standard liege dan wouldn't be wetting themselves over Chris O Grady either.

Doncaster must have been impressed with Evina during the away game in January

There also been rumours about player/players coming on loan from West Ham as part of the deal involving Poyet. David Sullivan has dismissed that rumour.

However he did say there WAS no real link until today so we'll find out soon,

To me that more or less says it's George Tucudean but again .. I'm in the dark with this one

    Thanks vff

Indeed Parker staying could have lead us to even greater heights - in europe and who knows what, not only did his refusal to play scupper that and in some ways could have been a turning point in our fortunes for the longer term and therefore possibly up there with the most significant moments in our history, but also arguably was the catalyst for us to plunge down through the leagues also just missing out on that enormous hike in premiership money.

So I wouldn't personally welcome him back mainly cos he refused to play for us..

what a slimy, distasteful serving of detritus the gold/sullivan gang are, in contrast roland, though not everyone's cup of tea, seems at least classier. (i await the anti rd comments...)

As far as I know RD has not made his fortune selling jizz mags and the 15" black mambo with 5 speed settings.

Gold and Sullivan are well suited to that mob, utter cnuts. I'll vote RD even if he is an evil genius/mastermind criminal and lives in a lair built in a long extinct Caribbean volcano stroking a large fluffy pussy...

Standard Liege Reserves rumoured to be in crisis talks due to alleged exodus of players to an un-named English Championship club located in south London near the Blackwall tunnel.

"We usually have an excess of crap players to try and fit in but this season is different" said coach Patrick Wanqueur who has just been sacked.
