Given the person involved is a longstanding and well-known Charlton supporter helping out, as he has often done in the past, I guess it would.

Any views on muldoon, glad he is still here, I have a feeling he will come good for us.

As for Saturdays friendly, is it at Sparrows lane and can I get in? Depending on time it would be good to take my little boy for his first CAFC experience.

I assume Robinson was number 10 in centre mid. I was impressed with him. Ditto Tucudean and Gomez, who I was watching for the first time and was as good as everyone says he us. Good to see Solly his usual self.

No-one else really played particularly well IMO.

Remember guys the players don't actually train with eachother on a daily basis between matches, they just doss about at home all week and only ever meet on the pitch, so how can they possibly know eachother? How can they possibly play together as a team? PEETERS OUT

Can't believe people thought George had a good game. Couple of nice touches but very lazy. Hope it's a one off, if not we won't be seeing much of him this season.

Whoever wrote it just doesn't have the experience. I wonder if they will be involved in writing the team sheets at Peterborough and Portsmouth. Either way I fear for them at Brentford. They just won't be ready in time. Does our manager know what he's doing? Honestly, does he?

Reckon we need to organise a few more Friendlies for him to practice... Else we dont stand a chance when the Championship season starts

He's looked good in other matches and scored a few goals. I imagine he can be sure of a squad place and was pretty much making up the numbers and it was the kids who had to prove themselves. There's no point our one (comparatively) proven target man busting a nut vs Ebbsfleet and getting injured close to the season's start - Moussa seemed to have a fairly innocuous injury but it's kept him out for a while now.

Also a pisstake was you are allowed to take your Plastic beer cup from the clubhouse round to the stand for their games but their stewards had been told to stop people doing it tonight.

As for Church, people can defend him thats fair enough. But at the end of the day he had one real half chance and he cleared the top of the stand

I went and thought first half he was our threat, he had a couple of opportunities which other than an angled shot and a well saved header, he mostly missed the target. However his shooting seems to have discovered some power, but at the loss of some accuracy.

I was very impressed by Church clearing the stand with a shot. That’s definite progress.

Have we signed Robinson or is he on trial ?

Surprisingly this was my first time at Stonebridge Road , apart from the game what it brought home to me is the massive potential that Fleet have and how this could affect us in the future if they surged through the leagues. I live in East London and Ebbsfleet International was only a 10 minute walk from the ground . The rail connections to all parts of Kent are much better than from Charlton and going in the opposite direction to Stratford I was home indoors just before 10.30 which is slightly quicker than when I go to the Valley .

IMO West Ham are a much bigger threat because of the same train connection. It's actually made Arsenal more accessible than The Valley to places served by HS1.

I am very surprised they put a reserve team out surely this new team needs time to gel and games to gel. This would have been a good test. I am also surprised that he sees solly and cousins as part of a 2nd string.

A few thoughts on last night...

Even in a game like this Solly is just so much better than most around him - I so hope his knees allow him to play a good chunk of the season. Ahead of him Nego looked much better suited to a more attacking role; has the tricks to beat players and conceding possession further up isn't usually as costly. George clearly has a good touch but certainly wasn't putting himself out, hopefully under instruction. I thought Thomas did well at CB, as did Holmes-Dennis at LB. As is too often the case though, all the best performances seemed to be in our half.

This was of course largely the kids but even with the senior players available (and Moussa injured) someone with the vision to create unexpected openings in the centre would be welcomed. Jordan's got the legs to get forward but after spending his early years as a defender is understandably limited when he gets there. He's learning all the time and adding more to his game but it's a big conversion. I understand Buyens' biggest strengths are also in winning the ball back etc. Nice to have more options now in wide positions but that can sometimes become too predictable / defendable against experienced coaches.

Was that Nego's 2nd outing at right mid now this pre-season?

At least - he was there for at least part of the Welling game. Don't know about the tour games.

He made a few decent runs and beat a couple of people, but blimey he is lightweight, would struggle mixing it in the Championship I think.

Agree, and distribution was somewhat wayward. Guess for now he just gives us another midfield option that was so lacking last season but I wouldn't trust him too much at RB. It would appear Peeters agrees.

Also the way he lost it on the edge of their area at a corner and allowed to break would have put me off my beer in a league game.....or made me drink more.

If Charlton were relegated twice and Ebbsfleet promoted then we play each other but that isn't their fault is it?!
Some time back we debated the epicentre of the Charlton fanbase and concluded it was somewhere between Bexleyheath and Dartford. I assume many Charlton "families" start off in an SE post code and move out over time. For CAFC to compete with London premier clubs there is one simple solution - get into the top six and win the play-offs. That will fill the Valley again and we can worry about how we handle that rather than be rattled by non league clubs in the area!
Where London Premier league clubs really hurt us is player recruitment and retention and that has nothing to do with stadia capacity and transport links. We have won through in this area in the past and we must win again!

Then anyone who didn't spell check Logic Negro amongst the host of other mistakes needs the mother of all bollockings, whether at Charlton or Gravesend

That's what happens when you get Luis Suarez to write the teamsheet...

I agree with that , especially if the Porn Barons can drop prices to £20 per game . As a casual I could even be tempted by that when we are away rather than my trips to Orient or sometimes Barnet .

I still maintain the Fleet could be a massive threat to us if they got into the league . Until last night I hadn't realised just how close Stonebridge Road was to the International Station . Peter Varney always talked about the potential of the Thames Gateway when he was at Charlton . It looks like he is geographically in a excellent position to exploit it for the Fleet .

I guess it makes the Valley Express and the work you did in setting it up even more crucial to the future . Although the rail links to the Valley from Kent are awful , we are well situated for the A2 . The key as always is pricing . Arsenal might be more accessible in terms of journey time ,but at £60 a game and £49 just to be on the priority ticket scheme people will look for value for money .

I'd alter "somewhat wayward" to "shit". He's also got to learn not to tackle himself. More than one occassion when he attempted some fancy footwork, but his head didn't seem to be in tune with his feet. Hoping for improvement before seeing him in the 1st team squad..........

I thought Nego was absolutely shocking and I hope he is nowhere near the first team. shocking distribution, not tricks, couldn't beat anyone. No wonder Powell preferred to play Morro at RB. I thought Tucudean looked a decent player, but he, like a lot of the spectators lost interest in the end. I think when he has better players around him, he could be useful. I felt we had a lot of players out of position, munns wide left for example,
