Best final I have seen. Not usually as entertaining as that, with such a big prize at stake. Great flowing & hard rugby. Such a slow start from the Aussies made it difficult for them, but a great fightback with the man advantage.
New Zealand showing again though why they are such a great team. Ran the first half, soaked up the fightback and then just stepped up a gear again at the end to pull away.
Terrific game won by a superb team against a very brave and committed one .. the best (rugby) final I have seen .. I look forward to seeing how a NZ team gets on without McCaw, Nonu and Carter, although the ABs churn out quality rugby players like Argentina and Brazil turn out class footballers ..
.. an enjoyable tournament that has shown that several countries have made quantum advances and that England and France have slipped a long way down the ladder.
Agreed @Lincsaddick and I would add some great crowds & atmosphere and really well organised.
A small gripe...some ticket prices were over the top, particularly in the group games. I suspect we'll find out soon enough that this tournament was the biggest grossing so far & just think £250 for a group game was too much.
Overall, great tournament & the right team won. Sounded like McCaw wasn't quite ready to call it a day though...he'll be nearly 39 by the time Japan comes around...too old?

McCaw will probably join the coaching set up (Sign him up England) .. I agree about the ticket prices, especially when the RFU waste bundles on rubbish coaches (I will say no more about Lancaster and the muppets) and on useless experimental gimmicks like the Burgess fiasco .. anyway, enuf of the whinging, just marvel at the way the Antipodeans play the game

Supply and demand I guess. Got three pairs of tickets at £15 per person for group matches and delighted with those.
I know that the profits from this tournament will filter down to grass roots - unlike football.

Some of the ticket prices were a bit steep, but full grounds at nearly every game says it all
A pleasure to watch what, for me, are the greatest All Blacks team I have witnessed in my many, many years of watching rugby.
Really pleased for Dan Carter, having missed out 4 years ago. Although difficult to quantify as the roles in a rugby team are so specialised, I would agree with those who say that Richie Macaw is the greatest rugby player who ever played the game.

I know @killerandflash we had 4 tickets for Ireland v Romania @ £50 each, which was ok. Other games had reasonable prices & there was a great take up all round the country. For some group games though, 4 tickets @ £250 each just wasn't doable (for me anyway).
Interesting the number of people who decide to claim victory through some great-aunt who once visited Wellington today, even though they have had 1459 days to declare any sort of allegiance to New Zealand.
Putting it out there. That All Blacks team are the greatest team to ever play any major sport.
What's your definition of a "major sport" ?
I have to say I'm not a huge rugby fan but enjoyed the tournament, NZ decimating France was one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen in sport and the final was really enjoyable too.
Never really watched rugby apart from the occasional 6 nations game but felt obliged to watch the RWC as we were hosting and i am so glad i did. From the japs beating SA right up to the final i loved every minute. I also watched the documentary on Nigel Owens the other night who has become one of my heroes! Did you see the clip of the all black giving his medal away to a kid too?
Rugby World Cup 2015: RFU to get £15m benefit from tournament
English rugby union's governing body will benefit by £15m from the surplus made by the 2015 World Cup. The competition exceeded its revenue target of £250m, with around 2.47m tickets sold for the tournament. That income covered the £80m that must be paid to World Rugby, leaving an extra £15m for the Rugby Football Union, said Stephen Brown, managing director of organiser England 2015. "From England 2015's perspective, this had been a huge success," said Brown. Brown said the event, which ended on Saturday with New Zealand defeating Australia 34-17 in the final, had attracted record attendances and sell-out matches, with 98% of available tickets sold. Several football grounds were used for matches, including Newcastle's St James' Park, Aston Villa's Villa Park and Leeds United's Elland Road. "Wembley Stadium twice broke the record for the biggest ever Rugby World Cup attendance," he added. "Our football venues were a huge success and packed for every match." World Rugby's chief executive Brett Gosper said England's failure to advance from the pool stage "didn't make a dent" on the success of the tournament. "It broke every record on every metric we've got - viewing audiences, number of tickets sold, commercial values, sponsorship," Gosper told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek. Gosper addressed World Rugby's decision to issue a statement declaring referee Craig Joubert was guilty of an incorrect call at the end of Scotland's quarter-final defeat to Australia. "If there's any regret, it's the perception we threw him under a bus, which certainly wasn't the case," he added.
If you look at the players who contested this, the Rugby World Cup, the epitome of, probably, the most physically grueling sport on the planet. Supremely fit human beings at the pinnacle of their profession. Fascinating.
£250 wasn't the cheapest seat available at the first ballot though?
No, it wasn't, but we were only lucky with the one game. I sit with a lad in work who plays and is a huge fan. He spent close on £2k on tickets, watching games all over the country, including all England's games. He did well as a club member as well, but still hacked off with the RFU at some of the prices after the emphasis they placed on making it affordable.

Obviously massively open to interpretation, but I can't think of many teams with a record even close to theirs. In between winning back to back world cups, they've lost 3 games. That's ridiculous.
That income covered the £80m that must be paid to World Rugby
That's the thing, hold major sporting events in England, and you'll guarantee they'll run smoothly, there were be massive crowds and lots of money will be raised for the governing body. Hence why England won the football World Cup bid for 2018, er...
Brilliant final, Fantastic spectacle a game played by men not overpaid posers, in a great spirit I love watching this level of Rugby even though I have never played the game myself. New Zealand are at a different level and whilst they have three key players retiring you can bet that they will be there again in 2019. By the way if you wanted to hold a role model up to any kid you wouldn't go far wrong with Dan Carter, brilliant at the game but modest and approachable a genuine nice guy.

Yup it's scary how much talent they've got coming through to replace some of the guys bowing out.
Sam Cane, Beauden Barrett, Sonny Bill and Fekitoa would certainly walk into most northern hemisphere sides.

New Zealand showing again though why they are such a great team. Ran the first half, soaked up the fightback and then just stepped up a gear again at the end to pull away.
Best of luck in the sour grapes competition though. Reckon you're nailed on pal!!

Good game yesterday.
Looking forward to the Six Nations too - England with a point to prove, Scotland looking better than recent years, France being rubbish....
