I think this might be a permanent move. He only joined Oldham in October and was only contracted until January. We must have offered to pay his contract for the month.

He played for them in the JPT the other night . Let's hope he never has to take a penalty for us.

Interesting how he's thanked the Oldham fans for the support they gave him at the club, makes it sound like he will be joining us perm in January
As he only signed for Oldham on a short deal until December 30th, and now on loan to us for the same time, obviously he will be looking for a new contract somewhere from January 1st

plan might be to loan pope out to a league one team when henderson gets back from his lay off.

Or loan Etheridge out but sign him on a perm . I feel happier with 3 established keepers on the books.

I hope Dillon Phillips gets a loan as well.

I thought he was the OLD fella that played for a number of clubs in midfield - so who was that then ??

As underwhelmed as the definition of the word itself..
  • Options
If he ends up not playing, will he be the first player to have signed twice but never make an appearance?
  • Options
Pointless. As we will be if he plays.

Maybe he will be our number one or number two to Pope when we sell Henderson for £10 million in January.

That might pxxx the Hammers off.

reading Ben Roberts' programme interview a few weeks back , he keeps a list of players who he thinks/knows would do the job and make the step up - Henderson was on it and that lead to us signing him in the summer..
I would guess that Etheridge is on that list after spending time here before so I believe Roberts continues to think that Neil can do the job in any capacity.

Who is Neil Etherington?? Or do you mean Matthew Etherington? In which case, how the hell did you get those two confused?!

Guess Pope is no.1 for now? What must Dillon think? And I suppose it is too soon for Mitov?

Dillon is not ready from what I have witnessed of the U21s. Mitov is defo one for the future.

Think this might end up turning into a full season. A few weeks back on 1905 Pope said he wanted to play league football and Roberts said they would look at it in Jan as he does need to be playing at this stage.

Can see Pope playing while Henderson is out and then to be loaned to a league 1 side to play with Neil number 2 to Henderson.

Welcome back to your spiritual home, Neil.

They say never go back, but this time it just feels different.

Couldn't agree more.. from that interview and others I got the Impression that popey was gonna get a loan at some point and possibly Phillips too.. and that would free up the wages to bring in a number two..

Expect that to happen when hendo has recovered...

So after Peeters built Pope up publically a week or so ago, you want him dropped at the first poor game?

    That would be great management.

Hendo brings the defence a hell of a lot more confidence and I'm sure our results show that, Bikey & TBH are less erratic with him inbetween the sticks. Once fit it HAS to be Hendo in goal, Pope's got a lot to learn still.. and it's no time to chuck another new guy in

but if he costs us points again next week, is that good management, if any other player cost a team points fans would want him dropped, but goalkeepers get special treatment why?

his confidence will be really down after 2 big mistakes today, that could effect him next week
  • Options
Yep you're right Pauline it could have an effect, like inspiring him to play better next week just like after his last poor game.

Sadly a defender can be saved more easily after a mistake, than when a keeper makes one.
  • Options
Drop him, not up to it!!! Can't keep playing someone to spare their feelings
  • Options
It's a shame that he couldn't put in a performance like he did last weekend at Forest. He looks assured, commanding and a good Championship keeper. Today was a nightmare.
  • Options
Don't understand how anyone is confident with him in goal
  • Options

Would like to see him against Blackburn

What are you basing that on? How many times have you seen him play?
